Fuzzy, what's this "probably" nonsense. I already have my post match analysis for our trip to Tranent drafted.
    Highlights will include :-
Poor ref, stonewall penalty, abusive Tranent fans and dodgy bridies !!

    Saturdays Menu

Tranent v BU's the Alex Jack Cup

Match Officials ; Kevin Lindsay - Ref ; AR's Iain Gallacher & Ben Gannon (nickname Loose}.

    Weather decent

No news on the half time delicasies. Although a previous post suggested an oven has been bought. May have come with a starter pack of said food.

Dave for the benefit of Fuzzy your impartial match reports are legendary. Last week was fake news.

2-0 FT. Boness had a fair number of chances but Kilbride goalie had some good saves. Two referee blunders led to the goals. Absolute feckin homer.

The Ref who handled last years Hurlford game. Probably EK shaded it but some of  his decisions were strange. As for the stand side linesman he needs reprogamming handn't a fecking clue what do with his flag. DD it was never a penalty.

I reckon the phrase "Downie looked poor" is a bit of an understatement.   Jambo'ness being kind to Darren.

Totally agree though that Zander Miller and Kieran Anderson should have stayed at the BU's.      Although Zander has had a fairly barren run against the BU's he is a good striker with a good scoring  record who has improved his overall game.   As for Kieran he  can do stuff on the pitch that other forwards can't. Yes he can be frustrating to watch at times with offside rulings and shooting when he should pass but that's why he plays at this level and not higher.

Downie probably lacked confidence. Miller and Anderson have proved themselves since they left but what's the point of always raking up the past.

I honestly don't think big Alan wants to play centre forward. Does he prefer playing out wide against full backs who as a rule are smaller and less physical than him or is it a case that out wide he thinks there is less pressure on him to score goals.

Big Alan has the pace, skills and power to get past centrehalfs but has he the hunger and self belief to do it ?

Alan needs more support we don't react quick enough and get into the box when he has the ball.

We are also slow at moving the ball around, we take an extra touch and then lose it, or it's a hoof up the park which become a 50/50, What we need is a player of Shirra's calibre who can see a pass and use the ball.

Could our game management be better?

BD shit happens. Unfortunately we are woefully short of strikers with both Wright and Keast out for a few weeks add in Jacobs and Gray and it's a tad unfortunate. We are grinding out results and whilst I love us to win in style winning is winning in however you do it.

The young guy who came on almost scored with his first touch and displayed a lot of energy but FFS he should have started if you want him to show his capabilities.

Just a dig at the Rose about their underhand approach for our Physio - who will join them when we find a replacement- fecking disgraceful.

Wonder who they are tapping up to replace Bradley as his jaickit is almost aff the wa'. His job must be on the line.

    IMHO McKenzie MOTM.

I received terrific help on the Junior forum that gave me the forenames of all 30 Bo'ness United players who played for Junior Scotland. However, another match and the 31st player has recently emerged! Can anyone help me with a forename of a player named McKie who played in 1949?

    Thank you.

Johnny is the name your looking for. Just got the answer from a man who saw him play.

No Dev?? Probably be the first or second name on my team-sheet.

Totally agree. MF trio of Gemmell, Morgan & Jacobs. Just a wee word on Gemmell worked a late shift - he's a fireman - no sleep and turned in his usual top performance. That's committment.

  8. Now I know that both Wright and McKenzie were absent today - both at weddings - why wasn't Rintoul given a chance. Keast was then injured taking the penalty and had to go off- why wasn't Snowdon given the chance to atone for his last penalty miss? - and we replace him with a defensive midfielder and still no Rintoul. He then substitutes Prentice for Watt - who IMO did not look fit - still no Rintoul. Now I don't know if Jacobs had taken a knock but to substitute him for Gray was IMO a poor move as the guy is not fit.

Rintoul has bags of energy and would have been an ideal target for an out ball but no he brings on two unfit players in Watt and Gray. If we were 4 or 5 up yes but hanging on 2-1 it was madness.

My MOTM split between Gemmell and Morgan. As Sheep says 3 pts and I agree but the man management in that game was terrible.

    Hunter6 where are you?

I think it just underlines how short of bodies we are up front.  Injuries & unavailability are always going to mean you need good back-up.  The idea of playing Campbell or Hunter up front just doesn't work.  We've tried it late on in matches we've been behind to no result.  Their scoring worth comes from dead-ball situations only.

We really need to get another body in soon.  A great pity it isn't likely to be Kelly.

Can play a trialist of course. Recent paper talk is that a good number of players from the SFL are still without clubs.

How is there no cash to bring players in ?

C'mon Sheep there has been a shed load of cash invested in the ground recently.

Surely they budgeted for strengthening the squad when they did their sums?

Of course what you can’t see is the squad being depleted by injuries.

Your sponsors will rally round and see you alright in the end.

After conceding 7 midweek, they were never going to be as soft a touch this time.

The injuries to Morgan & Wright are a real concern.  The lack of dead-ball delivery was evident after Morgan went off.  For all his other attributes, Dev is not a dead-ball expert.

The most depressing part of yesterday was when it was announced extra-time was to be played.  A palpable sigh could be heard as shoulders slumped around the ground.  At least Keasty made it worthwhile!

Two of the subs, Prentice & Rintoul, added a fair bit of spark when they entered the fray but for me MacKenzie was MOTM, showing guts after a nasty head wound, he tormented them constantly and was extremely unlucky with a screamer heading for the top corner until the 'keeper tipped it over.

Just a quick word about the enclosure side official.  Oh dear!  Inept doesn't begin to cover it.  Summed up by the farcical situation of her raising her flag for a throw, realising it was the wrong way and changing it, then appearing to gesture for the ref to come to her, then changing her mind amid flags pointing here there and everywhere.

    Prefer extra time to penalties.

Yes, not too difficult to signal the correct way for a throw in. Forgot to mention the blatant push on Campbell which was a clear penalty and Smith had a full on view.

McKenzie does put in a shift in but sometimes over does it when a pass would be better but terracing football is easy.

You play on a hired park.

A club who has not a single tangible asset of their own.

We will improve and where will you be?

The deflection goes on and onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. :bounce3:bounce3

To hire means to pay. United don't have to pay to use Newtown, yet.

    Correct

Currently you are a shambles so your right you can only improve.

Hard fought victory today against a well organised team we seemed lack ideas when Morgan went off but through to the next round  MOTM  will snowden

All credit to Crossgates they defended well especially their No4. They didn't carry a goal threat I think probably a couple of chances. For us, Hunter had a chance to emulate Campbell with 4 clear cut chances and we were over elaborate and their defence was well organised. Their keeper had two top class saves - just doing his job.

Oh! forgot to mention the referee it was of course Duncan Smith ably assisted by two young ladies. He as usual lived up to his reputation of being the worst referee in the East if not the North, South and West as well.

Extra time saw us through with a  Keasty special. However, on the downside the injuries to Morgan and Wright took a bit of the gloss of the victory.
