2 Days in Toronto in June?  There are likely some festivals going on and there is plenty to eat.  The CN tower may be cliché but it's worth doing once in your lifetime, especially if it's a clear day.  I'm a big fan of walking around Toronto's Chinatown and Kensington Market (which are next to one another), there are always cool sights and tons of interesting places to get a bite to eat or a drink.

If the weather's decent I thought taking the ferry over to the nearby islands gave some decent sights, nothing too exciting over there but if the suns out its a pretty pleasant place to explore.

Some decent bars along the main waterfront. We took in a Blue jays game as well, more to see the Rogers Centre than anything.

    Thanks guys, that's helpful.

We've already booked for a Blue Jays game the first full day there, which I'm looking forward to against the SF Giants.

  2. Does anyone have any suggestions what is worth doing in Toronto.  We have 2 days there in June then head for Niagara Falls.

I was just a wean but eventually managed to convince my dad to take me. He was right pissed at having to travel to Perth as we had all hoped the game would, and should, have been in Glasgow.

I remember being gutted at losing, but the fighting was something to behold and some of the best I have witnessed over the years. I was scared shitless mind.

Also went to the final with a Celtic supporting friend and had a great day out. It was my first cup final experience and, foolishly believing I would be back soon with Killie. Unfortunately the horrendous decline had already begun, our league winning team was gradually breaking up and part time football beckoned.

It was the same at Fir Park in the Quarter Final. My dad took me home at half time because of it.

We took our chance rather than chances with the aptly named 'Cup-tie' McKay scoring one of only four goals in his Aberdeen career, all scored in that seasons Scottish Cup from the quarter-final onwards...

    21-02-1970 Falkirk 0-1 Aberdeen (McKay 66) 13,500

14-03-1970 Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock (McKay 21) 25,812 at Muriton Park

    11-04-1970 Aberdeen 3-1 Celtic (Harper 27 (pen), McKay 83, Lennox 89, McKay 90) 108,434

I didn't realise Tommy McLean was still at Killie in 1970 so that makes it sweeter

Was any of our more mature contributers at Muriton Park on 14-03-1970?

I was tempted to say chance instead of chances but didn't want to be disrespectful 😀

Amazed that a Celtic fan who wasn't even born at the time harbours a grudge about a match played 53 years ago.

And no, Celtic did not have a perfectly good goal chalked off, nor denied a stonewall penalty and all the Dons' goals were perfectly valid.

I saw it, not read about it.

I love listening to the paranoia of these clowns.

Wonder what I could complain about after you beat us in the semi final - not a lot, you took your chances, we didn't.

But what he says is still correct regarding the incident though.  He explained clearly each step of why it was a red and why Beaton would have been wrong to keep it yellow.  Which part do you disagree with?

Ex ref and a current ref at my work said exactly the same.  It might be harsh and it's pretty universally agreed there was no malice but the guy got a face full of studs and that's dangerous play.

    Are Kilmarnock challenging it?

    Yes, and rightly so.

If McInnes keeps a Killie side with that squad up then it'll be his greatest ever managerial achievement IMO.

They'd better hope Armstrong doesn't get injured.

I don't disagree with you too much there, although I wasn't overly impressed with Dundee Utd last night (albeit they had 3 good chances in the last 15 minutes).

I was of the opinion that we were doomed to go don, however when you see the way we played against Aberdeen and Dundee Utd we're as good as they are, however we need to start taking our chances more often.

I don't know who will go down as teams start winning games you don't expect them to win when relegation becomes a serious reality.

If I was a Motherwell fan though I would be extremely worried as they have been poor now for months, worse than us.

We will be strong favourites after that shitshow of a window 😫

I'd say we are certainties now.   I thought before the season began we'd go down as McInnes had not strengthened the team as much as I was expecting, and by the end of August there was little improvement.

I honestly thought he'd have had at least 3 players ready to come in at the beginning of January, especially after getting his recruitment manager in place.  To be worse off up in the forward area than we were at the beginning of the month is completely negligent from all involved.  McInnes has been banging on for months about bringing extra pace into the team and again does absolutely zero about it.

After this month's shambles maybe the problem previously was not James Fowler, like a lot of folk suggested, and there are bigger issues at play.

Anyway we have to forget about it tonight and focus on winning (I don't think we will TBH) and hopefully get some sort of run going.

I'm surprised how bad this season has been as I was expecting far more from McInnes when we employed him but I can't say I have enjoyed watching his teams that much.  I have been to the least number of away games the season (2 so far) since the mid-70s.

Unfortunately we are stuck with McInnes and co. as there is no way we can afford to pay off another load of management and coaches, however we also can't afford to go down, so Bowie is in a quandry.

And that’s what it’s all about , is the old boy ok who fell yesterday ok ? He went down with some clatter

I only heard about after the game as I was at the opposite end from where the goals were scored and haven't heard anything else.

I believe your physio helped him so well done.

I was at the Pollok game a couple of weeks ago and an old boy fell back then too.

How many Darvel fans followed the history makers to Barrhead yesterday?

I was surprised how many they brought up yesterday, certainly more than DL suggests.  I'd say at least double.

Most were easy to spot with their Darvel jackets and blue hats😀

There were also many more people from Barrhead there who don't normally go along to Dunterlie, obviously interested after Monday night's result.  Hopefully some of them will come back to watch Arthurlie more often.

Seriously Darvel legend u have said things in the past about Darvel and how u were put out of the club but u stuck to ur guns and still supported them regardless yes the Aberdeen result was good but don't start going ur old way cause u got beat today the Scottish Cup is a bonus the league is what ur after but no need to call someone a idiot cause all ur doing is making it worse for yourself but if ur players can't get themselves up for today's game that's upto ur team but keep going in the Scottish cause u will lose the league that's for sure mind u you could be 3rd soon then it will be oh how the mighty have fallen

I don't think the Darvel players had any problem motivating themselves for yesterday' game, they were in control of the game until Arthurlie scored their first goal.

After that Arthurlie got a massive lift and put Darvel on the back foot for 10-15 minutes when they scored another twice.

After that Darvel tried very hard to get an equaliser and Arthurlie defended their lead with the same determination that Darvel defended their lead last Monday night.

Darvel 2-0 up ht arthurlie 1 attempt at goal miles out the game . Darvel missed 1/1 to make it 3/0 arthurlie long ball up park make it 2/1 and game on.
2 goals conceded shortly after to cause a fair shock .

must say darvel left back can’t defend any high ball played over him in any game Iv ever watched he’s a weak link gets wrong side of players and is weak.

The game changed in 20 seconds with the 1 on 1 miss then Arthurlie scoring and Darvel lost the game IMO as the left back left Simeon far too much space, which he exploited.

    Great result for Arthurlie.

I believe the first demolition in the area took place in 1988. I don' t know specifically when the buildings on the stadium footprint went, but I would imagine it was by the mid 1990s.

The top picture is cropped. The original covers a much bigger area and if you click the fullscreen option on it you can really zoom in and get great detail.

    Original is here: https://canmore.org.uk/collection/1269096

Cheers, that's a great photo.   I see what I presume is the old St James railway station buildings.

I played football near there in the 70s several times and have no recollection at all of these flats.

Aye on  a technicality due to the West pyramid only starting last season!

Yip, but currently they are level 6 so on paper they are at a lower level than Brora were against Hearts.

Either way Aberdeen have been shocking so far.
