Uber are to take over as the city's official airport taxi operator. This should put paid to the rogue drivers who think nothing of quoting in excess of 1500CzK for the trip to the city centre. With Uber it should be around 350-400CzK.

However, the usual advice (and I'll be doing this myself when I go back in a couple of weeks), if you only have cabin baggage use the bus/metro for 40CzK. I'd only use the Uber if you have a load of bulky luggage.

If anyone is going and is over 60 the travel tickets are half price.

The transport system is so well run and easily affordable. Roughly under £5 for a 24 hour ticket and under £2.50 if you are over 60.

I would have been annoyed of course but as VAR goes in terms of  decisions it's pretty low from what I have seen this season in Scottish football. Of course it being  in extra time in a semi final would make it hurt more for you. I don't blame Collum either for a change as it's whoever was in  charge of VAR who has all the tools to come to the right conclusion. There's far more to it than a comment Ange made a week ago and it goes further up than Scottish football.

You didn't need VAR to see it was a penalty, that alone is on Collum. VAR should have come to his rescue but how a 'supposed top referee" cannot see that is a penalty is beyond me.   He was staring right at it.

TBH it's what we have just come to accept in Scottish football as it panders to 2 teams, hence why I stopped going to Ibrox and Parkhead for years.

Postecoglu has just turned out like every previous bitter Celtic manager  - great when winning, but moans repeatedly when things go against him.  I honestly thought he was better than people like O'Neil, Rodgers & co, but sadly not.

It's really not as I have explained why. A stonewaller would suggest it's a penalty that is nearly always given however for whatever reason Referees often choose not to give them at all levels. There has been a slight drop in man handling at corners etc from VAR but it still goes on in most games with very little penalties given to it in proportion to how much you see it. All of this suggests not getting a penalty yesterday was not a massive injustice or a stonewaller.

I wish they did though as it's a cynical part of the game that would soon be nearly eradicated of if they did.

Of course you would have accepted that logic if the roles had been reversed.

It was a stone wall penalty and Collum shat it because he didn't want the abuse/criticism from Ange and co. for giving a penalty so late in the game against Celtic.

Th better team won in the end but that should not have been at the expense of honest refereeing.

Quite sure of eleven of them.

    1. Hampden
    2. Firhill
    3. Shielfield
    4. Easter Road
    5. Rugby Pk?
    6. East End
    7. Tannadice
    8. Tynecastle
    9. Celtic Pk
    10. Fir Pk
    11. Pittodrie
    12. Ibrox

Don't believe 5 is Rugby Park - our ground was oval shaped originally. I actually haven't a clue where it is.

I wondered whether 8 was Firhill, but then saw number 2 was Firhill.

I would avoid taxis altogether for your trip, they can be a rip off. Use Uber if you need a car during your stay.

The bus stop is located directly outside the airport arrivals terminal & will take you to a metro stop in about 20 minutes. Your destination for this hotel is 'Malostranska' metro station, a 10/15 minute journey. Once you exit Malostranska station, look uphill to to left & you'll see the Hoffmeister.

That's very handy, as i'm off there on Sunday afternoon for 4 nights.

As mentioned above, walking across Golden Gate Bridge is a must.

We hired bikes and cycled across the bridge and on into Sausolito, stayed there for a few hours then got the ferry back to SF.

We also went to the baseball one night as well, which was enjoyable.

HK Blues covers the best things to do n his post yesterday..

Criminal, lol, I think your idea of something that is criminal and mines are a bit different. The differences if this was a crime then, DONT GO, as you can sit at home and watch it for free live on TV as it happens.

You are correct 100% that its a six tier side but it aint a league match, its a Scottish cup fourth round tie against the fourth team strongest in the Premier league as of Monday 3rd jan and at home and I do believe Darvel fancy their chances.  £22 In todays current situation with inflation and type of game etc...you could argue for its too high but also argue it's the right price.  If you were going to ask for a dream draw outside the old firm then Aberdeen or Hearts would be next and on current form, Aberdeen not doing to well so I'm sure many Darvel fans will be excited. This type of game for them may never happen again.

If only 10 people turn up paying £22 then Darvel know they were wrong, if its a sell out at £22 then Darvel did the right thing with the pricing for this particular match.
This is a once in a lifetime draw for the team, could be more in the future but you never know if or when the money leaves but right now they are a WOSFL premier team against a Premier team and I will be rooting for them against Aberdeen, the same as I would root for , Auchinleck, Pollok, Irvine Meadow, Cunmock etc... against any SPFL side.

I'm looking forward to the game and I will be watching it on TV, yes I do expect Aberdeen to win but we all enjoy football, as ever no hopers against a top team still have  a chance.

P.s. also, this game has been one of four games picked out of 18 ties and the BBC see this game as a boxseller, thinking they will have an audience watching it on TV because they believe lots of people want to watch it, so pricing wise, yeah £22 I think is acceptable.

I'm also rooting for Linlithgow, Drumchapel and Uni of Stirling as well  in their Scottish Fourth round ties

I never had any intention of going as I don't support either team and certainly wouldn't pay £22 to see a team i don't support.   £15, which I think would be sufficient, is what I would have priced it at.

The TV thing has nothing to do with setting the price at £22 so I don't know why you are going down that route. BBC are left to pick up games after Viaplay have decided the games they want (inevitably the OF) so the BBC pick the side with the 3rd biggest support in the country to maximise their coverage. It will have nothing to do with Darvel.

I have just paid £25 to go and watch the 3rd side in the English Championship. You cannot tell me there is £3 of a difference between these games!! This should have been priced accordingly not based on who they are playing. The facilities (which are improved from many years ago) are not worth £22 to stand in on a cold Monday night. IMO the board will have sounded out Rugby Park and worked out roughly what the crowd would have been and will have reckoned this is the best way to make money but IMO it is still disrespectful to fans and if my club did it my reaction would be even harsher .

Is that why I didn't see you on Sunday?

Agree with you 100%.  I'm paying just £6 more for a cup semi final at Hampden next week, in what will be another 1 sided tie and probably a scudding for us.

I didn't even pay £22 for any Championship game last season and these teams were of a far higher standard than Darvel.

Great result last night for Darvel but you could have fitted the support into a phone box. There is no way they will sell out the Scottish cup tie.£22 a ticket on a Monday and on TV.Doubt if Aberdeen will bring 3k plus.

£22 is criminal for what is essentially a 6th tier side.

Hope it backfires on the Pieman and there are loads of tickets not sold.

    Pure greed

Great shout. Stevie Fulton was an excellent player and one of the most talented midfielder I’ve seen playing for Falkirk. His range of passing and vision to see a pass was fantastic.

The season he played fit us we had a brilliant team and finished 5th in the Premier League only 6 points off 2nd. We knocked Rangers out of the league cup at a Ibrox at a time when they were dominant domestically and his pass to Richie Cadette for the winning goal was sublime.

You are spot on about Billy McNeill’s comments. I’ve no doubt McNeill’s comments were intended as complimentary but ended up being a burden on the guy.

He did have a good career including captaining Hearts in a Scottish Cup final victory however I think he could have achieved more.

His father Norrie was a top junior player with Pollock in the 80’s and his 3 sons all played professional football with Jay still playing for Swansea.

Thanks for mentioning @Flybhoy mate - you’ve reminded me of some cracking memories of that season 👍.

Once Steve Fulton got up to speed, usually by the end of September, he was an excellent player for Kilmarnock.

His father was an excellent junior who unfortunately from my perspective scored the winner against Arthurlie in the 1981 Scottish Junior Cup Final at Hampden.

I last saw them in the 90s. Saw them twice, once at the McRobert in Stirling, and once at Falkirk Town Hall. Now they are playing much bigger venues!

That must be about 8th or 9th time I've seen them.  Britfloyd are also very good but they don't play Scotland too often from what I've seen.

Tickets for the Australian Pink Floyd Show booked - November 2023

I was there last Friday night and they were superb again.   I'll be going along again next November.

Sadly there were 3 pissheads in front of me who won't remember a thing about it.  I don't get why you spend money on something you won't remember the next day.

Saying he was a different level to anyone else in Scotland at the time doesn't mean he wasn't overhyped. It really is the faintest of praise. Most people wouldn't recognise Paul McStay from the hysterical nonsense you write. McStay stayed in Scotland because he wasn't good enough to play at a higher level, as demonstrated by a succession of non-descript performances in a Scotland shirt.

I agree with your comments on McStay - he had potential and never fully realised it.

I believe Ferguson was a far superior player.

  14. Saw First Aid Kit last night at the O2 and thought they were superb.

First time I have seen them and was not disappointed.   Great vocals, harmonies and backing band.

I don't particularly like the O2 but it was a superb venue for them.

Going to see The Proclaimers there tomorrow night and Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott at The Hydro on Friday and looking forward to both.

I know and I actually couldn't believe it either when he pulled that one back,  as said I don't like blaming ref's as it can often be used as deflection when our teams don't play so well , credit to him though for admitting the howler...

Out of interest what were your thoughts on the beith red card ? At the time I thought it was a huge over reaction from the ref and I've watched it back a few times and I'm just not feeling it at all but lots of people see things differently.

TBH I was standing in line with the 18 yard line where Arthurlie scored from when the sending off occurred and didn't get the best of views but from where I was it looked like his foot had gone in on the Arthurlie player.

I moved back round to the other end just after Beith equalised so saw the foul I referred to clearly.

Ooops he did it again.  Totally left Conor McGlinchey for dead,  suckered him with his nutmeg at the winning goal and what a composed finish. To be fair to the Beith defender, Aaron has embarrassed a lot better players than him.  We are going to miss this wee guy so much when he leaves.  He is a threat no matter where he gets on the ball.

He was the difference between the 2 teams on Saturday.   Need to get as many points as possible when he is still at Arthurlie as he'll be impossible to replace at this level.
