Perhaps I'm being a bit biased, what with my choice being the most memorable. Red numbers on the back too.

Also interesting that both clubs have occasionally gone for the hoops, as shown here, though Ayr have often gone for just the plain white:

I reckon vertical stripes is and should be a thing for us from now on.

Agreed, although for my 60th last year my daughters bought me the hoops strip with the Tourhill Joinery logo - I had it years ago, but didn't really like it that much but actually now really it - think it is to do with the quality of the strip.

    Ha!

Just been poured a right antique Bhunnhabain from the auld man. It's been in his hoose for so many decades there was thick stoor on it.

Probably sell for a mighty fortune on the Royal Mile.

    Tae yer health!

    My favourite Scotch whisky

I've just had a few Jura's to celebrate seeing Killie win twice at Somerset for the 2nd time in my 55+ years following Killie

    Cheers

Well spotted Otis. The Killie derby is St. Mirren. Ayr are so rarely in the same division as us that they don’t qualify as a derby.

No it's not.  Ayr is our man derby game.

I have lived 2 miles from Paisley since 1961, went to school in Paisley for 3 years, love to beat St Mirren, but the big game is always against Ayr.

St Mirren goalkeeper Dennis Connaghan pictured in the mid 1960's.  He would later have spells at Morton and Celtic.

Pretty sure this isn't Love Street as the stand at St Mirren's old ground was quite small and didn't run the entire length of the pitch, im thinking it's either Tynecastle or Brockville.

Edit, Firhill could be a shout as well.

Denis Connaghan is still involved with football, via being on the committee of Neilston FC.

Despite his later involvement with Neilston he played with Arthurlie for a while, including the season they got to the final (1980/81) , only to lose to Pollok.  That included an amazing semi final against Bo'ness United Brockville - what a night that was during and after the game.

  5. Got what we deserved - nothing.   Ayr were easily the better team, with McInroy outstanding, especially in the 2nd half.   Adeloye also made a difference to them when he came on.

As for us, I don't understand McIness taking off the 2 full backs.   That's 2 games in a row he's taken Haunstrup off and we have looked worse both times.

I'll be amazed if we make any impact on the play-offs, if we even qualify.   This team is going nowhere fast and I think McInnes will have another major rebuild to do come the end of May, whatever league we are in.

Could Killie manage to come up through the play offs?

Hopefully and possibly, but I very doubt it.

I don't think any of the 3 Championship teams that make the play offs will be good enough to beat whoever is in 11th place in the Premiership.

The standard of teams in the Championship is very poor IMO, and we're very much included in that group.

On the red card, I don't like that it's a red mainly because he's (as far as I could see) lunging for a relatively free ball (McKenzie isn't in possession of it) to poke it through to a teammate. He "follows through" because that's just physics. What else does he do? Not go for a ball that is essentially a 70-30? I see why he's given it but it looks more like an accidental collision. I get that in modern football that's a red, but it seems very harsh.

    Agree 100%

Anyhow. Ollie Shaw is a League 1 level striker at best,

He's absolutely useless.  He's not strong enough to play football at this level, and too scared to tackle opposition players.

IMO he'd struggle in the level that used to be called 'The Juniors"

  8. Better team deservedly won, although Hemming f*cked up again - although that's 9 points he's caused us this season he's still a decent keeper.  Unfortunately these points have all been lost against teams near/at the top of the league.

Best player on the pitch again was Low - why did McInnes not go for him?  Probably a financial decision.   O'Brien was also superb - brilliant positional play.

I honestly can't see us winning the league now (hopefully we'll gel more as the season continues) and if we don't thenI hope to God that Arbroath go on and win it.

Disappointed before the game I couldn't go (Covid in the house) but am glad now I don''t have to make the trip back home, as it's a long way back after losing up there.

He was in no way responsible for us losing but FFS where on earth do they get these officials from - that guy was abslolutey clueless tonight.    The red card was never a red card IMO - football is physical game and every time someone went to ground that clown gave a foul.

I had absolutely no idea that Eyemouth ever got near the QF of the Scottish Cup, quite an achievement. Just checked the record books and see that they lost 2-1 at home to eventual runners up Kilmarnock. Cant find any record of the crowd against Killie, would be interesting to find out if anyone has details

This poses a question of twins playing in Scottish football:

Suzanne and Shelley Grant both played for Scotland Women so may have played at the same time together

Dick and Ian Campbell played for Brechin City.

I can't think of any others but I'll raise my hat to Sandy and Jimmy, fans of Dunbar United, who are still shouting at refs in their late 80s!

Quite sure the Paixao twins played for Hamilton Accies

I remember driving back that night feeling certain we were going down. Totally scunnered!

The next game was the cup quarter final at Cappielow, we were out the night before literally flipping a coin to see if it was worth going. Fortunately we did and the rest is history 👍

I'd forgotten that was the next game.  Like you I thought we would be relegated that season after losing that game, however we put in a god performance against Morton in the cup (barring about  10-15 minute spell) and the rest of that season was great.

I recall the 92/93 season when the chant was “10 points behind us, you’re only 10 points behind us”.

We haven’t played a league game against Kilmarnock at Stark’s Park since 1997. That kind of shows where we’ve both been for the last 25 years. Such is life.

Brad Spencer going off injured at Arbroath means we are really struggling for midfielders. I wonder how John McGlynn will sort that out?

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways. 2-1 Rovers.

FFS - I was at that game, which we lost.   Can't believe that was over 24 years ago.

I thought his performance yesterday was one of the best individual performances I can remember from an AFC player. He was absolutely outstanding in the defensive midfield role and he didn't put a foot wrong yesterday and mopped up every loose ball, every 50/ 50 and tracked every run in his area. Absolutely superb.

As for the game itself - I think, for me, the full time whistle and scenes at the end of the game are one of the produest moments I've felt supporting the club. It's not just that we won away to top of the league Kilmarnock, it's the whole feeling surrounding it.

Yesterday was simply a standard, run of the mill league game for us. One of our hardest of the season, against a previously well established Premiership club, but it wasn't a big cup game, or a big end of season match, just a normal league game in November. For that to be the case and for us to be taking that size of support to a game south of Glasgow, to a 'big' ground and a team who get crowds 4/5 times the size of our own normally, and for everyone to think we had a chance of taking something prior to the game just sums up the superb feeling around the team/ club off the pitch at the moment amongst the support. We're at the stage where people don't want to miss any game, home or away, as there's always a good chance of us pulling off something sensational like yesterday as it's a regular occurance now.

On the pitch, there's nothing really to be said about how superb the team were yesterday as we all know it. Yet again another superb team performance, which brings me to the end of game scenes...... it is so, so good to see just how together as a group the entire staff are. All the players and management/ backroom staff together on the park, all acknowledging the fans, and all of the directors in the main stand left in a wee section in the middle clapping and cheering the team off as the 1500 home fans in the stand have suddenly disappeared. Those few minutes after the final whistle just summed up how together everyone is at the moment, on the pitch, in the stands and in the directors box.

You thoroughly deserved your win yesterday.  Dick Campbell is a very underrated manager, once again out-thinking the genius that is Tommy Wright.

I think you'll get a play off place at minimum this season, which would be a fantastic achievement.

The thought of those red and yellow strips at Rugby Park always fills me with dread.

Through the 70’s and 80’s we just knew we would lose to a late goal, be it Jimmy Bone, Doug Somner, Colin McAdam or that wee Shiite that could jump 7 feet high Johnston it was always probable.
possible  worst memory was the Cup tie that went to three games, and ended 1-0 to Thistle eventually if my memory serves me right.

So,,,,,,,, Thistle, just behave yourselves on Saturday, let us win and we promise to beat everyone else to help you get to the play offs. ..Deal!

Even worse, it went to 4 games - there were 3 replays.  I went to all 4 games.

Another bad time was the season 1979/80 when they beat us 1-0 3 times at Rugby Park, twice in the league and then again in the Scottish Cup.   From memory 2 of them were virtually last minute goals.
