  1. Didn't know that he had been there, albeit it was before my time.
  2. Cheers, I thought it might have been that place, but it's definitely in the 70s as some of the players there didn't play for Kilmarnock until the 70s. I suspect it's this game from November 1970
  3. Joe Gilroy - after coming back from managing Valur in Iceland around 1975, became a PE teacher at Paisley Grammar
  4. That's a fabulous strip, with stripes this year on the front and the back.
  5. We played at Dens on May 18th and I can assure you the pitch had grass on it that day
  6. I'm quite sure I saw Willie Hamilton 'guesting' for Ross County in a pre season friendly around 1971/72 in Dingwall.
  7. Think it was a Killie game but I don't remember who it was against - Motherwell away perhaps?
  8. Not the European Cup, but the Van der Kerkhof twins, René & Willy, both played at Twente Enschede & PSV Eindhoven, where they won the 1975, 1976 and 1978 championships, along with the 1978 Uefa Cup.
  9. Thanks GNU_Linex for all your weekly updates for all 5 leagues, it's very much appreciated by the likes of me who follows the goings on in the WOSFL with an outside interest (Arthurlie)
  10. That was the first international match my dad took me to - it was for my 8th birthday, which was close to that date. Coincidentally the last international match we went to together was Scotland v Cyprus March 2023 (54 years later) in the 1st qualifying game for this year's Euros in Germany. Sadly, he is no longer fit to go to Hampden and stand for the full game. I can still remember the booing when Gemmell took the penalty from the West Terracing.
  11. I was at that game - Ruud Gullitt scored for Feyenoord. I'm quite sure I remember the Feyenoord fans in the old Main Stand at Love Street.
  12. I realise that now. I thought when you mentioned the underpass leading to the Rugby Road gates it was the pass under the East Stand.
  13. Greg Taylor - Great tackle on Barton!! https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/517144/kilmarnocks-greg-taylor-reveals-rangers-flop-joey-barton-liked-the-horror-tackle-which-got-him-sent-off/
  14. It would be nice to ruin it for either of them. Europe will be a nice prize at the end of the season. Hopefully I can get to an away match this time. Couldn't get a ticket for Wales and had already booked for Belgrade before that game.
  15. I'm now dreading playing Celtic on the 15th May at Rugby Park when I think it is likely if they win they will then win the league that night, as I fully expect them to beat Rangers the previous weekend. Nothing worse than either of the bigots winning the league at your own ground.
  16. When I first started going in the 60s and up until the late 70s that's where I stood with my father and friends. It wasn't the away end until the fence went in in the early 80s.
  17. Before the ground was redeveloped the enclosure in front of the main stand went as far along as it could before it reached the bit you passed under next to the said stand. Once it was redeveloped I genuinely can no longer remember what happened and whether the stand came right down to the front in that area.
  18. What do you mean by cut out bit of the main stand? The stand Squirrelhumper is referring to is the East Stand, which is opposite the main stand.
  19. I was at that game, can't believe it was 44 years ago today, right behind the goals where Sombre scored the goal in your other posting.
  20. After an enjoyable afternoon in Perth I am hoping Arthurlie might make it a doubly good weekend for me. Hopefully a decent crowd and they try and keep it tight to remain in the tie after today. Come on the "Lie!!!
  21. I've seen them before and they are superb. Whereabouts did you see them?
