  1. Jim Ross has updated his blog at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights:

    * I read on line where WWE was kicking around the "War Games" theme for a possible return to PPV. I think that's a good idea as the traditional "War Games" concept was two teams of five and the bad guys winning every coin toss in existence which allowed them to always start with a 2 on 1 advantage. No, I don't endorse that "every match be a War Games match" but I do think that it makes for a cool theme name and having one "War Games" bout would be marketable if the table was set correctly with the right talents that all had organic reasons to be "teammates." Please read this carefully and don't go into business for yourself inasmuch as I'm saying that this is going to happen but that it was merely something that I read being discussed on line and we all know all those things can be at times.

  2. They would be pissing all over Punk if Taker now looses the title to Batista at Bragging Rights.

I saw the advert for Taker vs Punk in a casket match but it's not exactly a spoiler. Should Taker loose the title to Batista then it could simply be made non title.

  3. A great match that was as well, and made Ric Flair look like a million bucks. They also had a Last Man Standing match at Survivor Series a month later which was also a belter.

Was that the match where Triple H stabbed him in the heid with a screwdriver?

  4. Adding Sting to Vinces machine would have done huge business. He claims not to have signed because he feared how he would have been used. I actually reckon he would have been made to look shit hot instead of being squashed and buried like many others and I kinda think his reason for not signing is pretty stupid.

  5. Cheers! I'd have took a guess at that being Sting's reaction at that point in time, but he'd have been some coup for Vince if they'd managed to sign him earlier in his career.

I honestly think Sting would have been huge had he gone to work for Vince at the time.

  6. Just curious to know if the WWE has ever approached Sting over the years to join the company? I know he was a loyal and devoted servant to the WCW brand, and maybe the buyout of the company to Vince stuck in his throat. But surely the WWE would've made some sort of attempt to poach him away from WCW earlier in his career considering he's one of the biggest names in the wrestling buisness?

For me Sting is the biggest name never to have worked for Vince McMahon. When Vince first purchased he was keen on bringing in Sting for the Invasion story but he declined the offer as he felt that they weren't treating the old WCW guys with respect and were basically burying them with the exception of Booker T.

  7. Yeah, I'll give you that. Of Russo's new breed, he's the tried and tested guy, but I really think they should have given Hernandez or Morgan the belt ahead of him.

    Morgan - no

Hernandez - I think he will eventually but it is still a bit too soon, he just doesn't feel like championship material just yet. They'll need to keep building him up the way they have been for longer and eventually I can see him being the big star of TNA.

AJ was the safe choice for now with a pre written storyline for Bound for Glory.

  8. Thinking about it now it's pretty hard to believe that Morgan is a maineventer for the second most popular wrestling promotion in America. I don't quite get why? He can't wrestle and he has some of the most cringworthy promos today.

Glad to see Hernandez get a push, I'm a big fan and I'm actually uite gutted that his push means no more LAX.

AJ is the goto guy. Whenever they are not sure who to put the belt on just give it to AJ. Although he may not be a main event level player, as has been proved numerous times before, he can bring back credible wrestling to the title.

  9. Inever thought I'd say this but well done Vince Russo  . I guess it was his decision to remove Kurt from as TNA champ. Apparently he has decided that Morgan, Hernandez and AJ are "his" guys so I guess quite a lot of focus will be taken off Kurt and the MEM, infact I can see them breaking up the Mafia before much longer.

IF VINCE RUSSO READS P&B.......BRING BACK GOOFY KURT ANGLE

  10. And this is my arguement for anyone who thinks Kurt Angle is a great. He isn't. He's good, but he has absolutely no concept of what a finishing move is supposed to be. The Angle Slam means nothing. The Ankle Lock means nothing. Even the Ankle Lock with added grapevine now means nothing. It's just another trademark move he does which, maybe one time out of 10 attempts, actually does the job. Or if it's the Angle Slam, 0 times out of 10.

Nothing pissesme off more than watching an Angle match with half a dozen ankle locks in it. I've always liked him but he is by no means one of the greats. His gimmick annoys me too these days. I miss the days when he just started out where he played the coward.........it's true, it's true..............I do

  11. Weirdly enough I've been watching a shitload of old Austin stuff, mostly promos over the past week. His WHAT? promos used to annoy the shit out of me, but looking back on a lot of them they were fucking genius. I've never seen a promo which could grab the crowd like Austin.

  12. "The Butcher" Scott Renwick df. Liam Thompson, Darkside, William Grange and Kid Fite to win the Money in the Bank Match.

This begins the terrific second half in terrific fashion. The action in this one was absolutely fantastic, which it should be when you consider the talent that was in it. The timer going off for the 5 minutes to go mark seemed to take a lot of fans off guard. The crowd were megahot for Butcher, so it was a good idea having him come out first, which made the fans care about the entire match. Darkside was probably the highlight of the match actually. All five men were great though. Great match.

I knew this one would have been a belter, a but gutted I didn't go now.

"The Butcher" Scott Renwick df. Lionheart and Wolfgang to win the NWA Scottish Heavyweight Championship.

I really should have stuck to my convictions and said that Butcher was going to win the title. A deserved win, but I totally had the Lionheart win bought when he was going up for the Frog Splash and was totally deflated when he hit the knees. Why does he always do this to me in triple threat matches ? This was yet another corker of a match in the second half.

    OVERALL

    ********

A show of two halfs. That second half was probably worth the price of admission alone. A couple of genuine beauties in there. I don't think I've seen that many matches of that quality on one show for quite some time. I recommend getting a DVD if it gets released.

I'll be looking to get the DVD just to see this.

  13. Aye mate fair enough, I think I was being a bit too hard on punk mainly because I don't rate him but he does have some good skills! You do make some valid points, he is good with the crowd and makes no mistakes in the ring but for him to be a champion, I just can't see it! Of course the only reason he got that push was becuase Jeff was leaving and lets face it there is not really anyone else who fits the bill! Taker is back and with Batista going to SD I think Punk will be taking a back seat, hopefully....

A lot of people won't agree with me but I just don't rate him at all, He has nothing that little bit special about him, his ' go to sleep ' is a terrible finisher too.

    Blaaaahhhhh

Making who SmackDowns tp heel? Both Batista and Taker are face. Who does that leave? Dolph Ziggler?

Punk defintly deserves his main event spot. He gets great heat from the live audience and can work like hell. He can talk no problem, cuts great promos and the Straight Edge gimmick works. Finally, the GTS is a great move :P . But apart from all of that I agree with everything else.

  14. Teddy Hart is going to be at the 1PW 4th Year Anniversary show. There will be a bus running from Scotland to the show. Another big announcement made on the 26th of this month.

    Meh Teddy Hart.......I'm not fussed.

Any rumours on what the announcement will be?

And just a minute before I read this I got a random as f**k email from Lionheart who I've never spoke to in my life to tell me about the bus. I still dunno how he got my email address.
