  1. Definitely famous last words probably influenced by having been to Russia a few times and very much enjoying the experience, but once it kicked off I knew the Russians weren't going to win in three days despite what was being said on the TV news: six months on and the Ukrainians still hold Kramatorsk.
  2. Word was Gretna 2008 were actively angling for that last season behind the scenes. After it became a talking point on here they eventually tweeted that "as things stand" they would be relegated to the SoS. It should all be out in the open on league websites with no weasel words like that added to muddy the waters at the outset of every season.
  3. It's certainly potentially doable but something a mother would have her 12 year old daughter tag along for? Shows how motivated the Ukrainians are right now if the answer is yes. Think there might be something to this as an explanation: Suspect it could easily be a few years before we find out for sure what really happened.
  4. Estonia is a very long drive from Moscow and has recently stopped allowing Russian citizens in so she would need to have used a Ukrainian passport. Sounds like a very risky getaway plan but I know you are being sarcastic. What exactly is going on in Sevastopol today, if anything, is probably what's more interesting today though:
  5. Just to explain the background to this bizarre series of posts up until recently the idea that Gretna 2008 and Dalbeattie Star would be relegated into the SoS would have been reasonably clear cut but this season Threave Rovers are in the WoS. Castle Douglas where Threave Rovers play their home games is only five miles from Dalbeattie so there doesn't appear to be any clear geographical boundary between the WoS and SoS any more. Dalbeattie Star are the club who are most likely to be relegated from the LL by the looks of things right now so it would be good if there were complete transparency on this matter on league websites so there is crystal clear clarity for the clubs that are in the relegation zones of the various WoS divisions and just as importantly their supporters over what happens if Dalbeattie and Gretna are the bottom two clubs in the LL this season. Should be easy enough to do and not something anybody needs to be getting worked up over.
  6. Larne FC fined over pro-IRA slogan is up there on the list of things I never expected to read about on the BBC website.
  7. You are the one who is telling us that Dalbeattie and Gretna are both set for the South. Is this an assumption on your part or have you contacted league or club officeholders?
  8. ^^^if anyone actually does this there will probably be a call screener initially who will put you on hold after figuring out whether you are suitable to put through to the panel of celebrity halfwits. They will probably ask for your name, location, and what your planned question is going to be. Best to have your info inaccessible from your phone other than the number and make sure the number you are using doesn't pop up too easily on a google search. Say something like Billy fae Whitburn or Ronan fae Royston with the appropriate talking point for whatever that side of the OF is riled up about at that moment in time. Then once you are through change the subject to your desired topic and enjoy...
  9. ...what is the source of this information. Apparently doesn't really cut it.
  10. Another defunct club called Benarty had a ground called Dallas Doyle Park that was actually in Ballingry. The Midlands League would probably work better for a resurrected Bankfoot after what happened with Letham.
  11. Vaguely remember that EK OK was what the EK Thistle fans were singing at Ibrox when their club beat the BUs at Ibrox in the early 80s. Your club still has some way to go before it achieves anything like that with that kind of backing from the wider community. EK Thistle have been struggling for a while but that wasn't always the case and who knows what the future holds. Twenty years ago anyone suggesting your club would be where it is today would have been told they were totally deluded.
  12. Abbey Vale beating Newmains United maybe also rates a mention given how seldom SoS teams win away games against clubs in the central belt.
  13. Doubt too many people have from outside a 10 mile radius. One of West Lothian's smaller villages a wee bit south of Whitburn and Blackburn. My aunt was born there but I've never been. The junior team has never done much after being started up in the early 80s with a former Rangers player called Derek Strickland as player manager from what I remember. This is a bit like what losing to Steelend Vics would have been in Fife terms.
  14. This thread is about to get interesting I suspect:
  15. Same old same old of certain posters on here only being able to deal with a binary argument.
  16. ...which given the playoff had already been brought in and BoD could be relied on to win the North superleague was a way to guide them gently towards the exit with no scope for legal action.
  17. What I was pointing out was more that FW and Golspie would be the only licensed clubs at tier 6 right now with neither a sure thing to take out Strathspey Thistle or whoever even if they did win the NCL title. In other words there may be an element of truth to that suggestion even if it isn't the full story.
  18. ...and if the Midlands League hadn't emerged how likely was it to go further than that any time soon?
  19. ...with nobody ever pumping in silly amounts of money to make it happen. If the financial doping ever stops EK Thistle could wind up being the EK club with better long term propects again because the Showpark is a much better location for a football stadium. EK blew it big time in the penalty shootout against Cowdenbeath and have a very narrow window of opportunity before the LL starts to be a lot more competitive than it is now. Hopefully the BUs burst their bubble today.
  20. Is it just me or did some of those actually appear to be in North America rather than Russia? Think the main reason Russians have a lot of videos to share like that is that they are unusually keen on using dashcams more than their driving being unusually bad. If you want to witness some really mental driving Nairobi in rush hour is on a completely different level from Moscow. Looks like there may actually be Ukrainians drones going after the most distant portions of Crimea and it isn't just a case of nervous Russian soldiers taking out seagulls with very expensive air defence systems.
  21. Suspect it will turn out to be the last of those where the Belbek air base and Kerch bridge are concerned. Talk of drones being shot down but no footage of wreckage so far, also no satellite pictures of any damage inflicted.
  22. Close to Sevastopol apparently: where the Black Sea fleet is based.
