  1. Beyond trips to Campbeltown after moaning about Tweedmouth from that standpoint, finishing bottom of the WOS fourth division against former amateur and youth clubs: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021–22_West_of_Scotland_Football_League#League_table_5 may have provided a reality check on where they were going to fit in competitively in the west.
  2. We have the same close down nuclear as reliable baseload and back up windfarms with gas dynamic in Scotland because the SNP need the Greens to be able to win Holyrood elections and hold referenda. At least we have enough gas off our shores to justify that strategy though unlike the dynamic in Germany where even after the little green men made their appearance in Crimea in 2014 they still viewed Vlad as a reliable business partner on gas supply.
  3. Odds on the powers that be threw in the pyramid review angle because the colts team experiment was getting binned without that. That added wrinkle means it's not safe to assume previous voting patterns on this issue remained largely the same for this vote. Some clubs might now see the ongoing presence of colt teams as a price worth paying for prising open access to the SPFL, while others may fear what a sweeping review of the pyramid would do to their ability to remain at tier 5.
  4. Guess there will also be a couple of U-20 keepers on the books, so there should be no need for emergency loan type signings now. The new keeper is represented by an agent who also takes care of the contracts for a couple of Aston Villa's U-23 squad: https://www.transfermarkt.com/tim-pole/beraterfirma/berater/8800 so looks like he has ambitions to go higher in the game than the LL eventually.
  5. Transfer is already listed on transfermarkt: https://www.transfermarkt.com/musa-dibaga/profil/spieler/854537 so they are keeping an eye on EoS and LL related twitter.
  6. No rules were changed in that context so the highest placed non-colt team is declared champion.
  7. An NCL league officeholder has already posted on here to confirm that's not the case. Stranraer Reserves have already blocked possible playoff participation by licensed clubs in an SoS context.
  8. If colt teams pave the way to having at least two clubs relegated each season through the review of the pyramid those clubs will be flushed out of the LL more quickly. Would be ironic if it was their votes that secured that outcome, but getting reconstruction through the SPFL's voting system is close to mission impossible.
  9. ...who have Nairn and Clach colt teams playing in the NCL next season, which could prevent a licensed club being able to access the playoffs for promotion into the HL if one of them wins that league.
  10. Fielding a team as well but on a lower budget a bit further down the pecking order? Failing that a slight prize money percentages adjustment in their favour?
  11. More difficult to predict now as some clubs may have been swayed by the review of the pyramid angle. The three former SPFL clubs might see that as their possible path back depending on what the SFA and SPFL have in mind to get the concept of colt teams accepted by enough of the Leagues One & Two clubs to get a reconstruction plan through an SPFL AGM. Have to wonder also if the Brechin City to the LL angle will rear its head again.
  12. ...but maybe not for the same reasons you opposed it. CSS are very much in the bad guys camp where expanding relegation at the bottom of the LL is concerned. If the SFA and SPFL are now seriously exploring whether and how to further open up promotion opportunities into the SPFL the founding clique of former EoS/SoS/youth clubs won't be able to link a lack of progress on that issue to doing nothing where promotion for both the WoS and EoS champions is concermed.
  13. They also want Tiwi Daramola as well but may have been scared off by the transfer fee that was being asked for according to posts in their thread.
  14. He did a U-turn after that and sung a very different tune on his next appearance. Not sure if he still gets on TV there though.
  15. Given the two main roads into Lysychansk are within artillery range for the Russians at this point that was a very risky thing to do. Maybe necessary though to bolster morale.
  16. Interesting development if that was what was dangled before the LL clubs to get them to vote for it. Problem is getting it past League Two clubs given the SPFL's voting structure.
  17. Have read Bloodlands and I don't think a Hitler vs Stalin body count was Timothy Snyder's main conclusion because he viewed both as being very bad news and he was interested in the interplay between their systems in what he termed the Bloodlands in Eadtern Europe where both held sway for a bit between 1939-45. His approach avoided nationalist narratives and revolved around mass killings being particularly bad in areas where the rule of law provided by a state was dismantled and much of the local state apparatus then collaborated with invading armies two or maybe even three times in relatively quick succession. That would mean doing stuff like helping the einsatzgruppen as a way to keep themselves in paid employmemt. Getting back to Vlad's special military operation. From what I've read, I think one reason why things appear to be tilting slightly in Ukraine's favour again may be that a lot of the contracts signed on the Russian side in late Feb only ran for three months making it easier for some of the more experienced Russian soldiers to leave the battlefield at this point.
  18. There's Tayport, Lochee United, Golspie Sutherland and Fort William available for that now. Four years from now I suspect they will have been joined by Carnoustie Panmure, Broughty Athletic, North End, Blairgowrie and Dyce at a minimum and probably more. The Midlands League joining the north pyramid addressed what could have been a significant issue.
  19. Maybe I'm missing something but don't see anything in there that denies that the Nazi crimes happened and hence could reasonably be labelled full-blown revisionism. Definitely a bit crass to talk about crimes starting after the war like that but it's maybe worth bearing in mind that Estonia had a relatively small Jewish population because it was outside what had been the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. It's more Latvians, Lithuanians and Western Ukrainians that are remembered for active participation in the Holocaust.
  20. ...and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri. Good to see a fair sized crowd out for this one.
  21. When you read this the assumption would be that Russia doesn't need to worry about the longer range HIMARS capabilities: but maybe this is the way they will still arrive and this explains some of the semantic gymnastics that appear to be happening above:
  22. Lots on twitter at the moment about the apparent Ukrainian retreat in Severodonetsk actually having been a carefully set trap to lure Russian forces in. Didn't see that one coming if it turns out to be accurate.
  23. Forfar West End's EoS application (plus North End and Broughty if rumours are to be believed) definitely appeared to focus some minds in SJFA circles that had still been daydreaming about the east region being a tier 6 feeder to the LL. A couple of seasons earlier the northern portion of the pyramid was going nowhere fast but timing was perfect last year given the HL was actively sorting out what to do with the NCL and north region as feeders by that point. Maybe Cove Rangers getting promoted and doing so well at the League Two level shifted some of the old school attitudes. Don't think some of the HL clubs realised the full implications of what they signed off on because Tayside juniors are a different kettle of fish from what they have locally in the north region. If Tayport and presumably Lochee United were not licensed for 2022-23, the only clubs that would be a factor moving into next season would be Golspie and Fort William who are far from a lock on winning the NCL and probably could be beaten by the bottom placed HL club in the context of a playoff.
