  1. Think you'll find those issues were actually dealt with by the LL board rather than by a vote of the member clubs.
  2. Bit early to write the obituaries but talk of handing unsold tickets back to Bonnyrigg was a bit of an eyeopener on how much people in Cowdenbeath even care at this point about having a league team.
  3. Has some benches now but they are not covered.
  4. A cup final is not a bad finale to the season after the ways things were looking after the heavy defeats to EK and Bonnyrigg.
  5. Carrying on from the other thread Mitchell and Skinner are in there but not Galbraith.
  6. Definitely two very conflicting narratives now on the Admiral Makarov: or Having had an irate officer of the Russian army yelling at me in Moscow for taking a picture of the hotel I was staying in which turned out to be owned by the MoD and hence technically a military installation, I'm skeptical it's easy to take a picture like that. When he realised I wasn't Russian he continued to go through the motions of fiercely berating me but was actually smiling as he did so. Didn't wind up in the Lubyanka or anything like that. Doubt he would have been so laid back during war oops I mean special military operation time.
  7. Doubt the SNP are thrilled at these results. Labour probably win a few more central belt seats on these sorts of trends and the rise of the Greens may be more problematic in a FPTP context in future than it has been in the past.
  8. Having Mitchell on board seemed to make the biggest difference to the overall fortunes of the team when available so suspect he's the most likely to be treated that way.
  9. The UUP definitely need to figure out why they even exist at this point. A bit of a CoI vs Presbyterian/Evangelical and social class based "decent people vote for the UUP" dynamic worked when the Alliance party was still on the fringes but not now that they have been eclipsed electorally by them and all they are doing is handing the first minister job to SF over relatively minor policy differences. The SDLP quickly went after they launched from being Gerry Fitt style Labour to a Christian Democrat style party with the RC hierarchy pulling the strings. They seem to be losing both those niches to PBP and Aontu now so really what's the point in being SF Lite with no carefully tucked away balaclavas?
  10. Something for people to ponder: The combined SDLP + SF vote has been in a holding pattern for almost 30 years despite all the hype about demographic shifts. A lot of the apparent electoral advances have revolved around coalescing behind one party while the Unionist vote has a greater tendency to fragment. Most of the Alliance party is really Faulknerite Unionist as Anna Lo soon found out when she went off message in that regard so a NI protocol that arguably gives NI the best of both worlds isn't necessarily the existential threat to the Union that a much harder Brexit could very easily have been and may continue to put wind in the sails of the Alliance party in the years ahead.
  11. https://nonleaguescotland.org.uk/carnoustie.html Major issues are no cover with hard standing, devils illumination installed for a small 3G training pitch nearby but not for the pitch they use for Midlands League games and questionable whether that pavillion is big enough to accomodate everything that needs to be in there. Looks like one that could take a few years depending on how much funding they can raise and/or attract.
  12. Oakley already have a set of training lights so they already have pylons so that probably makes sense.
  13. Great to see a Scottish club in a European final again. If they can beat Dortmund and Leipzig then Eintracht Frankfurt isn't mission impossible.
  14. That's ancient history. A genuine pyramid is in place now with the juniors on board. All that most of the founding clique of LL clubs are going to be remembered for in future where tier 5 is concerned is how they lingered there like a bad smell after refusing to do the decent thing on opening up relegation.
  15. They control most of the Donbas and are still advancing there albeit very slowly. As things stood they weren't getting to Lviv but a more limited set of objectives in the east and south of Ukraine was still doable. The reason people are expecting the boot to soon be on the other foot is that Ukraine is now expected to be the side with the more accurate longer range artillery and Russia's supply of tanks and other armoured vehicles is degrading away while Ukraine's is growing because they have all of NATO (OK maybe not Hungary) behind them.
  16. Two relatively strong opponents to round things off for them in the WoS so maybe best to wait a bit on the congratulations.
  17. Si Ferry has an interview technique that gets people in the game to come out of their shell in a big way. He's a former Celtic player so he can share insider anecdotes with them that prompt them to do likewise and speaking with a strong Dundonian accent you wouldn't hear in a normal TV interview also seems to help. It's mainly Old Firm orientated as people are describing but not always. Dick Campbell was interviewed at one point.
  18. Bear in mind the governing body had no problem licensing Edusport a few years back and plenty of posters on here were OK with it at the time as well. The LL has been an ongoing shambles since its launch in 2013 because of the lack of involvement of top junior clubs at the outset (plenty of people deserve a share of the blame for that) and it's only going to be corrected through many more seasons of pro/rel that will enable clubs to find their natural level.
  19. Is it not still useful combined with an infantry advance for the shells it can fire to take out enemy strong points and armour that would make things difficult for infantry alone? Never been in one so don't claim to be an expert. Argument seems to be that Russia units have been relying too much on trundling in a column of tanks and don't have enough infantry to prevent them from being sitting ducks by controlling the ground around the tank.
  20. So somebody with -enko or -chuk at the end of his name can't get close enough with an NLAW or a Javelin to turn it into a pressure cooker?
  21. Did they not address that with a new law recently that made it illegal to refuse an order to deploy to Ukraine? My understanding is that made the choice for soldiers on a contract either a trip to a brutal Russian jail with the label of being a traitor to the Motherland and all that would likely flow from that or a trip to Ukraine and a possible visit from a TB2 drone.
  22. Easy enough just to combine League One with League Two and expand the number of relegation and promotion playoff slots to keep the season interesting. Won't happen any time soon but eventually the lower division clubs might come around to the idea that it is in their interests to make it easier to bounce back.
  23. ...with the sole exception of Threave Rovers. If some of the Division 4 teams also get emptied for that reason at the end of next season, any danger of hitting 80 in numbers terms is probably well off into the future. Think the big attraction for some of these applicants and also some of last year's may be access to the U-20 setup more than the WoS itself.
