    If we're in there pitching the crowds should ease some of the concerns.

    Ferguson will do fine for us this season when required, bring in/punt too many and the camaraderie in the squad could evaporate. We've had quite a few from last season that have quite clearly improved, at least give the boy the chance to prove he's improving as well.

    I think it's a very good use of the word imminent, always hours of knicker-wetting excitement, better than just posting up the news immediately.

    Don't think the club would put out the imminent tweet for Shankland, could be the final piece of the jigsaw though.

    He was never really in control over 3 sets, pumped in the 1st, cruises back into contention then pumped in the 3rd.

    This Lawrence Shankland hasn't, just the same as the Scott McKenna we watched in an Ayr strip bears no relation to the one currently filling an Aberdeen & Scotland jersey.

    I'll relax when AYR mention after 5pm that they've not received an acceptable bid yet. Shankland' short term future is probably the biggest issue Ayr have faced in a very long time, that's including our 4 recent promotions.

    That's why I'm only scared of Hibs, they've got the cash from McGinn and they play the style of football that would enable Lawrence to shine.

    I'll certainly be breathing easier after 5pm, can't see a Scottish club splashing the cash required IIBH.

    If the right Scottish club came in with the cash he'll be away, don't see it myself, Celtic, Rangers and Hibs being the only ones I'd be scared of, as he's a blue nose, we're probably down to Hibs.

    Ayr's on the up again for nightlife, it's only clubs that are lacking.

    I don't remember us ever paying £150k for a player, I remember us getting about £70k + 2 players for Sproat, what a transfer that was for a keeper 40 years ago.

    Doc & Co are going to struggle to get into our starting 11 at the moment never mind the kids, hopefully one or 2 of the youngsters will still announce themselves this season.

    Tomorrow's going to be like us waiting for him to re-sign in the summer, could we not get our excitement spread out over many seasons rather than a handful of months.

    Agree with the jist of your post, if we sell Shankland and the worst case scenario happens, we will lose a lot of money year on year, what would be the point in turning up if we're never giving it a birl, I've not got lots of opportunities left to watch us properly competing at this level or higher.

    Worth more than £250k but not worth £1m at the moment, he's hardly started his football career.
