  1. I had the green album in my top 20 as well.
  2. Phenomenal album, glad to see it make the cut here. The Wrekked Train's monologue on the opening track is superb, and the beats throughout are tip-top. Love the follow-up EP The Ghostmutt EP as well, with the lead single The All, The All, but their second album - the one after The Wrekked Train left - is horrendous.
  3. The scenes where they were dropping Haley at college had me crying with laughter - Phil's t-shirt and his face after he took it off had me in stitches!
  4. Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Going to be a tough one!
  5. So by the criteria, I could probably include some of the later Massive Attack albums (Mezzanine onwards?) but not Blue Lines?
  6. It's All About You by McFly. Normally I hate everything about McFly - their name (tarnishing the legacy of an all-time great film), their smug little faces, their shitey music. But this tune is a belter.
  7. There's a lassie I went to school with who must spend all of her waking hours posting images on Facebook trying to get the "Sheeple" to "open their eyes". If you can name a pro-environmental, anti-government, anti-capitalism, Save the Children, Save the Whales, Shave the Wales campaign, she'll have posted an image and slogan about it, probably in the past five minutes. This past week we've had why flouride is a poison; what big corporations "secretly" own the food and drink you buy (Coca-Cola owns a company that makes bottled water. I nearly died with shock.); something about free-range chickens; a lot of stuff about trawlers killing dolphins; and how Diet Coke and other diet drinks cause brain haemorraghes and epilepsy. Last week, she announced that she and her husband weren't buying their two-year-old son any birthday presents, instead they had opened a charity donation page in his name to help African kids get clean water. I'm sure the wean will be over the moon at that. I should note that I do actually like the lassie, it's just her Facebook feed that blows my mind (and not in the way she's hoping).
  8. Something that really gets me annoyed twice a year - folk that think they're funny with shite like: "Just saw Carlos Tevez having a white pudding supper on the Gallowgate - must be in town to sign for Celtic" It was funny the first transfer window. It's not funny any more. Just f**k off.
  9. The Streets - Let's Push Things Forward
  10. Black Swan - Freakier than I expected, but I'm not really sure what point it was trying to make. Mila Kunis/Natalie Portman lesbian scenes though... 7/10
  11. I read that recently. The first half is as good as anything I've read over the past couple of years. The second half really disappointed me - the explanation of where the dome came from and what it was just felt like a cheap cop-out, like he couldn't be arsed coming up with a decent explanation. The characterisation in the first half is excellent though.
  12. That really bugs the f**k out of me on Union Street. Any time I try to walk along the Union Gardens side of the street at lunchtime, I end up having to elbow my way through three-deep piles of neds, munters and ald grannies.
  13. 2001: A Space Odyssey - 2/10 Watched this for the first time last night. It's one of my favourite books but I thought the movie was pish. Pretentious as hell, just a couple of hours of Kubrick wanking over his own 'genius'.
  14. I've got a train trip from Montrose to London coming up soon, and had planned to watch the whole first series of I'm Alan Partridge on DVD. But reading this thread reminds me why I can't - I'd be howling with laughter all the way!
  15. Aye, the guitar riff sounds like "Same Size Feet" from Word Gets Around. I think The Beta Band sued them for "Go Let It Out" sounding like "Dry The Rain" as well. And "(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady" is a blatant rip-off of Tommy Tucker's "Hi-Heel Sneakers".
  16. I may be wrong, but I think that's the reason Step Out wasn't on (What's The Story) Morning Glory. Creation were still waiting for the outcome of discussions with Stevie Wonder's publishing company on whether they could release the song at all, but they needed to release the album, so it got bumped in favour of something else. And I think Step Out is credited to Gallagher/Wonder.
  17. Is Sounds Perfect on St Andrews St still around? Not been down that way for a while, but they should be able to help if they're still open. Otherwise PC World or Curry's/Dixon's might be your best best. If you're prepared to travel a bit, Robert Ritchie in Montrose is one of the best hi-fi and AV dealers in Scotland. They'd definitely sort you out.
  18. I don't think I'm as bad as it makes out - I'm broad shouldered and have never been slim - but I'm definitely overweight (and I didn't need my BMI number to tell me that!) Shite time to be trying to lose weight though - heading towards winter with a pregnant wife who's about to start eating for two!
  19. My favourite Noel quote is (and I paraphrase it): "The reason Keane are shit is because the three biggest wankers in any band are the singer, the drummer and the keyboard player."
  20. According to the NHS and BBC websites, my BMI rating is now well into the overweight region, closer to obese than to ideal weight. So I need to go from just over 15 stone to around 13 stone. First steps are cutting out all the chocolate, crisps and ice cream etc. But I think my biggest problem is portion control - I'm hopeless at it! Also going to do more exercise. Last night I was playing fives in Brechin, so instead of driving from Montrose to Brechin, I cycled. Seven miles in just under an hour, arrived at fives with rock solid legs and an aching arse After an hour of fives, couldn't face the cycle back home, so stuck the bike in the back of my mate's car - still, it's a start!
  21. 60 Second Wipe Out by Atari Teenage Riot. Going through my iPod and listening to stuff I've never/hardly listened to. A bit shoutier than I would normally go for, but not bad. Hearing some similarities to Asian Dub Foundation.
  22. Currently reading Keith Richards' autobiography, Life, which is top notch - just tale after tale of life lived to excess for 50+ years. He makes no bones about the fact that his lifestyle should have killed him a long time ago, and he doesn't attempt to make it sound glamorous. But at the same time, he does show that he, personally, couldn't have lived any other way.
  23. When we had the bank holiday for the Queen's jubilee, I went golfing down near Glasgow with my dad, leaving my wife and one-year-old daughter at home. Dad and I had stopped for a bite to eat, so I checked my messages on my phone. One from the wife saying that she'd left our daughter in the play pen for 10 minutes while she went off to have a shower. Came back to find that daughter had filled her nappy, then managed to get the nappy off and smear shite all over the play pen, herself and her toys. Cue newly-washed wife picking up shite-covered child and transferring her to the bath to get hosed down. With the worst of the keich showered off, she decided just to give our daughter a bath. Ran the bath with daughter sitting in it. No sooner has she turned off the taps than daughter stands up and takes a massive piss in the clean bathwater Soooooo glad I wasn't home that morning. The wife ended up using a pressure washer on the play pen and toys
