  1. There's more to the Ross Matthews situation and it's nothing to do with any supposed "fall out". Think more Michael Miller.
  2. Definitely the atmosphere to blame again. If only the fans sung more then we'd have won 5-1 tonight.
  3. I've not read all the posts today but can see that at last a few folk have finally started questioning Euan Murray. He's been awful for months now and not really sure what he does. He's not commanding, he doesn't win strength battles (as shown today by getting absolutely bullied again) and he's not a ball player....so what are we actually getting from him?!? Watson would come back in and sort it. He will talk at least which is something nobody else in the team seems to do. We seem to have "leaders" in the squad but nobody who actually wants to shout and command the rest during the 90. After the 3rd goal today everyone just put their heads down and nobody wanted to take ownership. Murray at least acknowledging that 3 at the back was poor but I disagree what others said. For me that wasn't the issue today. Murray on the first, Byrne on 2nd and the 3rd was a complete failure to compete by the team.
  4. Cammy Kerr should be nowhere near us. Only reason he was kept for countless managers was because he was considered a "diehard" fan. Would suspect he'll be on the move to the west of Fife instead.
  5. Oh agree a 1-0 scoreline every week would be uncomfortable unless you are in complete control of the games. The tactics are risky and if we scored with Vaughan in the 1st half yesterday then I don't think we lose that. Or if we go 2-1 up in the 2nd half. We've got an issue at the moment whereby we're suddenly not as clinical up top with a few players out of form coupled with a massive weakness at the back. Just got to hope that Murray can sort it out and we get some sort of additional cover at the back for next Saturday and beyond.
  6. Exactly this. It's also been interesting that the last few games when we were trying to get the equaliser that the players seemed to lack energy. It's only so long you can do what we were doing during the first half of the season. I'm not saying that this means it's all doom and gloom and we can't recover. There are definitely reasons behind the drop off, not least the loss of Stanton who's drive and energy in the middle of the pack cannot be matched by anyone else in the squad. But we need to find a way to be tighten up at the back and we massively need someone to be a commanding and leading presence. Yesterday we had a defence and keeper whereby only Millen wanted to shout commands at anyone.
  7. We're literally going up against a team who've only conceded 10 goals all season and 3 of them were in 1 game. Being solid at the back is the foundation for any successful team long term and unfortunately for us right now we are very soft.
  8. Folk need to calm down about Stanton. He's absolutely fine and will be back for either the Caley match or semi final against Airdrie.
  9. He's out for 4 weeks so will be back for early February. No but I really like the Verve. Ashcroft is some singer...
  10. Really poor today and Airdrie fully deserved the win. Could have played for another 90 and we still wouldn't have had a proper shot on goal far less actually scoring a goal. Players need to take this as a proper wake up call and forget the hype as this result has been coming the way we've been playing recently. As for Millen, for me that's an automatic fine. Unacceptable and puts us in a difficult position now next week.
  11. Shame that Brad is away but wasn't unexpected. He's from the west coast and suspect he'll have something lined up over there. Always tried for the club so goes with my best wishes. With Matthews coming back we have a midfielder we didn't have last season plus Arnott, albeit he needs to show he can step up to this level still. Given we tried to keep him Spencer we'll be in for another midfielder now.
  12. Hearing Lang has rejected a new deal and is either going down south or to Premiership
  13. Lucky to get away with that point in the end. Murray again far far too late with his changes that the whole south stand could see were needed. We needed to stop their momentum but instead invited sustained pressure onto us. It'll probably turn out to be a good point in the end but tonight is probably the first time I've really started to question Murray.
  14. Connell offers absolutely nothing. I'm hoping he's only playing due to Gullan not being fit to start yet cause if not we're in trouble. He's simply not at this level. Today was exactly as expected. Good goals from Ayr's point of view but basic defensive errors again. More powderpuff stuff up front. We'll not go down but we are way off being able to challenge so will finish 6th, 7th or 8th. When do the clocks go forward???
  15. The difference I'd say between last season and this is that at this point last season although we were picking up 1 or 3 points a game and not losing we were not playing great. Each game felt like a hard watch and you almost knew that as soon as we lost we might go on a bad run which eventually happened with the Patrick match. This season we look to be stronger mentally, now picking up form just at a crucial time of the season and getting players back from injury.
  16. It's on YouTube already. Very good interview again as usual now.
  17. Think a few others have mentioned it but that's exactly the type of game we'd have lost under McGlynn. Like last Saturday the 2nd half was excellent and a very professional performance. You can see the work Murray has put in with the squad is starting to pay off now. We won't play well every week and we will lose again but we're seeing a backbone to our team now. Again like others have said it was really hard to pick one player out today but I really want to mention Dick and Millen. Dick is like a man possessed at the moment and Millen looks a different player. Amazing what can happen when players get a bit of confidence. Brown in the middle was again outstanding. Him and Spencer just do the basics really well and that allows Stanton the freedom to play. Another good Saturday all round. Roll on next week!
  18. One of the most complete performances I've seen from us for a long time. First half was absolutely fantastic with great intensity. Second half was exactly what we needed to do and very professional. Liam Dick was excellent. Probably his best performance in a Rovers shirt. Also noticed him constantly taking to the other 3. He's really stepped up this season and I have to hold my hand up and say I never saw it coming. Millen as well had his best game. He's starting to do the basics really well and looking more confident. Having a settled and balanced back 4 is so important and it looks like we might have come across one. Again another one who I hope will prove me wrong for the rest of the season. We take to take the positives when they come and enjoy tonight. We'll lose again but no doubt we'll come back on moaning about Millen, Dick, Connell but we are a team in development and I'm liking the signs. I think with our squad fit we have the best midfield in the league and if we have a fit Vaughan probably the best striker. I had faith in Murray and really glad to see things might be starting to come together now as he puts his mark on the club.
  19. Imagine spending your Saturday night looking at the Pie and Bovril thread of Rovers v Partick
  20. Maybe I'm just wanting a better standard of a game but no matter what team it is I'm not seeing that as a penalty. Its contact sport. Just because you get a slight hand on you doesn't mean it's a foul and doesn't force you to ground.
  21. My worry is we seem to have nobody, bar Stanton, who seems to be able to drive us forward with a run. It's a lot of passing and sometimes we create something but we don't have a winger who wants to drive at the opposition. Even the full backs are naturally defensive. Its means unless our passing game is on top form, like Cove last week, then we are easy to defend against just now.
  22. That is a dive. Anyone saying otherwise it's fishing for catches. I really hate it in the game and can't stand it when our players do it. Zanatta was the worst and our fans would be the first to tell him to get back up. However we gave the ref a choice to make. He made the wrong one clearly and if he sticks to his guns and thinks that's still a pen then it sums up not only the standards of refereeing in Scotland but also the perceived arrogance that a lot of officials seem to have. The handball one is an absolute shocker. How he cannot see that is ridiculous. He had a great angle as well to see it. Another example of how poor the referring standards are. Think Murray at the end of his interview summed it up. It was a day where right from the start things didn't go right and just had that feel to it. Doesn't make it any easier to take though and means the next week is massive for us now.
  23. If we sacked a manager after losing to Caley then we'd have had about 25 managers in the last 20 years.
  24. We signed him to have a "different" option up front. He looked really short of match practice today and so that's why I think it's ridiculous for any of our fans to start moaning just now. If he's playing the same in 2 months then fair enough and he'd end up being Jon Daly mark 2. One of our biggest problems is the lack of supply. We have "creative" players who are not creating anything and full backs in Dick and Millen who aren't naturally attacking. Millen can't seem to even cross a ball. So even if you have a giant striker in the 6 yard box if you don't give him chances to score then he'd be as well having a 4ft boy instead.
