  1. That means the Chief Exec has to be next. She knew this was happening. Absolutely fucking shambolic from the board yet again.
  2. Totally agree. We might disagree on whether McGlynn should stay or not but what is now unfolding is absolutely shambolic. I do think there are some good options out there that would take us forward but I have zero faith in our board to make the right call.
  3. Matt Elder now running the story https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/john-mcglynn-set-to-be-appointed-falkirk-manager-and-raith-rovers-players-could-be-joining-him-3678409
  4. Where has the McPake rumour come from? Given our board didn't have enough foresight to offer a manager who they wanted to stay a new deal early enough do we really think that they have some sort of target already.
  5. But he's not really the chairman. Sim might not be it on paper but he's still the one in charge. Whatever your thoughts on McGlynn are, the fact it's come down to this is an absolute shambles. It also will suggest that the club have zero plans for in place for any replacement. If the board wanted him to stay then why not offer a contract ages ago. Another example of sheer incompetence by a group on individuals who quite clearly don't have a bloody clue what they are doing. There's been no mention of Paul Smith yet and nothing to suggest he will go as well. However if he did then surely that would make our Chief Executive's position untenable as well given there is no way she wouldn't have known what was happening.
  6. Seriously some folk need to calm down. Going absolutely mental cause McGlynn is leaving when he will have chosen to do so. I highly doubt McGlynn has been offered less terms than he was on and therefore if he's chosen to leave us and go to them then why aren't folk questioning him. If the messiah eats, breathes and skirts Raith Rovers then being offered slightly more money shouldn't come down to it.
  7. What I hope this does is, if he does go, put an end the nonsense that a manager "bleeds" for any club. Unless you are a lifelong fan who played for a club for years then a formal manager is just like any other job role. McGlynn here has been offered more money and clearly sees Falkirk as a better opportunity for him to end his management career. Who can really blame him. Even at our best of times we can barely muster 2000 fans yet Falkirk can get double that in League 1. As for who could replace him I honestly don't think it'll be Berra. He already spoke about how much he liked being about to play this season and I'm not sure if he'd go for a player manager role. Maybe a player assistant role though. Laurie Ellis would be the completely wrong option and based on nothing but him being another "Rovers Man" despite him leaving us before to join McKinnon at Dundee United. James McPake would be a horrendous appointment.
  8. If it's reached the point whereby we lose McGlynn and the club goes into free fall then we really are in an almighty mess. McGlynn was never going to be the manager forever. The reaction to him leaving from some on here is hysterical.
  9. Honestly the standard of debate on here sometimes is just superb. Intellectual as always. So let me reply. Based on his performances since January I wouldn't have him back in next season. Bar the Hamilton match I don't believe he carried anywhere near enough influence in any game and for his position that's something he needs to be doing. The argument of him being a Scotland (under 21) international is flawed in many respects. How many players have played at that level and done absolutely nothing else in their career and we've had several of them on loan with us in the past. Varian is an under 21 for Ireland but I bet you don't think we should have him back. Williamson may turn out to be a really good player but based on what I've seen this season with his performances for us I do not think that we should bring him back next season. I think that's a fair argument and I've given a reasonable reply to you as to why.
  10. If we have any ambition Mackie shouldn't be anywhere near our squad next season. Tried hard but not up the standard needed to take us forward. Same goes for Williamson. I think he does actually have quality but in his position you need to get a lot more from him and a couple of decent performances late in the season shouldn't change that. He was liked at Arbroath last season but still think that is Campbell thought he was going to improve them then they would have gone back in for him.
  11. The most interesting thing here is the Spencer comments. Not those of someone who's going to be leaving
  12. What you mean after getting his side promoted over us and super McGlynn and then staying in the league with a part time budget? Yes that Dick
  13. Why does nobody think there can't possibly be a better option that McGlynn out there? Remember when he originally came to us nobody knew who he was. I seem to recall a few years ago that folk laughted at the thought of Dick Campbell coming to us as he was a jobber who was passed it. In our league so called jobbers McCall and Dodds managed to get their teams to finish above us. I hate the argument that you can't change manager as "there's nobody better out there". It's very much a statement that holds no truth to it. For me McGlynn's time is done. We won a few games at the end of the season against a Partick team who are in free fall and Hamilton who then lost 4-0 last night. Hardly the sign that things have turned. Killie were on their holidays last night and yes we played well but as a team we failed to really kick a ball since November. Winning the diddy cup really papers over the cracks and cannot hide the fact that we were on the verge of going top 4 months ago and now finished 17 points off the top and conceded 17 more goals than Killie.
  14. I've never been more sure that we will lose today. It'll leave us with 2 horrible games left with a squad who gave up weeks ago so 6th or 7th place is almost a certainty now. Genuinely unthinkable that we arrived at Firhill in December on a superb unbeatable run with a great away crowd full of optimism. Can't wait for this season to be over. And that's something I never thought I'd say when we were stuck at home watching matches on a laptop. That's how bad this season has become.
  15. Just think about what Sim said today. He thought about closing the club because the fans didn't like his decision. Honestly if that isn't enough for us to seriously group together and look at what options we have I don't know what is. He has supported the club since he was a boy apparently yet was prepared to shut us down. That is no fan and not someone we should have as the owner of our club.
  16. It's absolutely clear that Sim is still the "real" chairman. No way does someone who still owns the club come out with an interview like that and at the same time giving up all power at the club. Stevie MacDonald is chairman in name only. The fans have simply been lied to for months now and until they all leave (Sim, Morgan, MacDonald, McGlynn, Smith and McCartney) nothing will ever change. They have treated the fans with contempt. The fact we have won ONE league match since December, not only thrown away the league but the playoffs and potentially will not finish 7th yet Sim, who's not the chairman yet wants to give the manager a new deal (no idea how that works if he's not in charge) sums up exactly where we are as a club. Shambolic!
  17. What the absolute..... So all the previous statements by the club were just nonsense then if this is what he actually thinks. The sooner that old p***k is away from OUR club the better. Wonder if he'll be telling us to go support one of the other 41 clubs when the season tickets go on sale.
  18. Many times I've said it. Nothing to do with us being unable to score goals this season. Our defending, bar a nice spell when Berra and Lang got a wee partnership going, all season has been embarrassing at times. Time and time again we've shown that we just can't deal with any pressure and our endings to games are poor. That comes down to management and it won't change until McGlynn and Smith are away.
  19. Great win for us. Yes we didn't play that well but given our squad today, our last 3 months and last week's performance in particular any win was needed today. The players stepped up and they all have to be given credit for that. Thought Stanton was excellent and if we get him playing in a confident team who play quick passing football then he'll really take us up a level. Poplatnik worked tirelessly today as well especially given his lack of game time this season. Special mention got the commentator today on QOTS TV who sounded like a fan who'd had a few pints pre match and then forgot he was streaming live. A shame as a remember the commentary before being decent. Loved how when the full time whistle went he just turned the mic off as well [emoji23]
  20. I'm another who had no idea our Chief Exec was married to Smith. It's an absolute crazy appointment that especially when you look at her history of employment which hardly screams "I should be running a football club".
  21. Was saying the same thing, the only reason I can think he never came on is that he wasn't ready but then why is he even on the bench in that case. It's another example of decisions McGlynn is making which really don't add up.
  22. Maybe part of our problem is we seem to have reverted to old school McGlynn and chucking balls up to strikers in the hope they will somehow win them or we get to the 2nd ball. Poplatnik played with his back to goal his whole game and we brought on Gullan and thought he was a 6ft5 striker again. We are so slow at moving the ball that teams can just sit in against us and we're left with no option but to play stupid chipped balls forward to strikers who want the ball on the ground. In that 2nd half yesterday we looked like a team with no idea what we were meant to be doing. As for McGlynn and Smith I'm fully of the belief that their time is up as we need to make the change now not least to try and stay at high in the league as possible for the prize money. However do we really expect our Chief Exec to sack her husband and his pal? That's the issue here and is another example of ridiculously poor governance at the club.
