  1. At one point yesterday Stanger played a ball from the half way line over the head of Stokes and out for a bye kick,  Farrell turns around in frustration and shouts about passing the ball properly.  Stanger is a kid we've signed from the senior leagues because geggan failed and he lost confidence in Lynch.

You could argue he's misused his budget and then failed to get the best from, or improve the players.  We re at the arse end if the season and I cant think of a player who has got better over the season.

  2. Carsys not a shitebag, that much is evident having watched him today.  He's lost self control and that has become a recurring theme in our games with his being the 3rd unnecessary red in recent weeks.

Comments about McKee and Wylde not making tackles are spot on too, but Joe's picked by the gaffer to do a certain job.  Today it appeared to be to sit deep and help put crosses and forward balls into the box so our short strikers can compete for them in the hope that Carsy picks up a loose 2nd ball.  Paton was there to try and win the ball back, those were our tactics and the roles the players had.

  3. Carsys been a decent captain and is an important player when playing well.  Perhaps annoyingly for him today he seemed to be asked to play as an attacking midfielder with the instruction of getting close to our strikers and in the box.  That left paton to do all the dirty work and McKee to float around in midfield in an ineffective quarter back style playing long balls to short forwards.  I'd have got annoyed with that situation too after a while, the game seemed to need a creative midfielder but we kept ours on the bench and then brought him on at left mid.  I'd have got annoyed with that too.  The dissent was immediately after the ref let us play for a few seconds and then pulled the game for a foul against us, it was one of a few odd decisions from the ref.  Carswell shouldnt have acted that way and it's another stupid red to go with patons and mcleans.  It wasnt the only sign of frustration from our players, we also had Wilson wipe out the right back when we'd won a throw deep in their half and Duthie trying an overhead kick from the edge of the box when nothing was on.  Decision making and self control was terrible all over the place.

  4. Fair play to EF they turned up, played well and took their chances.  Looked like a good mix of young kids and some senior players making up their team, who together looked well drilled and confident.

We were an absolute rabble and I'm not convinced that the players are working for the gaffer anymore.  There's no longer competition from the bench and some of the starting eleven are so poor that it frustrates their team mates.  It's a honking situation to be in and we'll be lucky to stay up.

  5. I'm travelling through for this and looking forward to it.  Hopefully we get right in about it from the start in the same manner as the recent Clyde game.

A win and I think we're safe from 10th, a defeat and I think we'll end up there.  Pressure is on both teams, but more so EF I think.  I expect Paton will come straight back in, probably for McKee

  6. I think I'd take Faz to be honest.  The last 2 games have seen us have horrible starts and then scrap away to half time.  Both 2nd halves we've come out with 3 at the back and had a real go at the opposition.  I'd accept that we never got anything from either game, but I think Faz and Franko can put out a decent team, once on the park it's up to the players.

There's not much any manager can do when Paton gets lippy to a fussy ref and sent off, or when Joe McKee needs 3 touches to miss a chance.

  7. I've tended to give Fazz the benefit of the doubt, but I cant imagine any reason why we wouldn't have considered playing into a wind as strong as this and adapted our game to suit.  Last game here was into a wind tunnel and we've learned nothing from it.  That's on him.

That said, theres not been a good performance from any Sons player this far and everyone of them should have known what to expect from that ref.  No excuse for Paton either.

Fair play to Peterhead, they know the wind influences the game so they accept it and use it to their advantage.

  8. Interesting that we're looking at Boyle for fault in the 1st goal; he only went narrow because he was tracking Cawley.  If there's a midfielder or full back running to get on the end of a 40 or 50 yard pass and then cross, perhaps we should consider where our midfield had gone?  Im not convinced Hutchison or Bucky do enough to react to the ball coming in at the front post either.  Paton got tore into Boyle after it too, but it wasnt just him.

After their 2nd you could see Paton and Fazz shouting at each other.  On another pitch the pass from Paton is a reasonable one, but it was minutes after the Alloa goalie struggled with a pass back that led to a corner for us.

  9. I keep going back to Faz's comments when Gregg Wylde scored that worldy, it was along the lines of Gregg being a player that influences games.  I think he's been a first pick since then, other than the Dundee game when he was cup tied.  If Wilson, Orsi or McKee were to chap the gaffers door, it wouldn't be hard to show that Duthie and Wylde are picked because they make things happen.

  10. Ticket bought, bring it on!  We have been much more competitive recently and it's an encouraging sign.   I didn't see the Thistle game but would be happy with that team if Mclean and Paton come back in.

I travelled through for the 0-3 game at the start of the season and feel that might have flattered us a wee bit.  Clyde will be looking at the gap to 9th and might just fancy that they'd be safe from that if they can beat us, it should be a cracker.

My forecast is a Sons win; Josh and Bucky to score, 6 or 7 yellow cards.

Watching the Falkirk highlight, Eden Lynch was directly responsible for 3 of what must be up there with some of the most ridiculous goals I've seen us give away.

    Goals 1, 2 and 6

Goal 1 wasn't as bad as the other 2, but it was still horrendous defending and left his man free for a tap in.

Goal 1 when Ross McLean let's his man run off him while he tries to play offside and when good movement from Dowds makes the space?

If he was out of position ( and I'll take your word for it as I'm certainly not watching it again) that's likely because he wouldn't be anticipating our defence giving the ball away in such an easy fashion.

Need to be honest and admit I took the time to watch the highlights again; imo Patons one of the few who dont make a mistake to give up a chance at goal.  McLean, Lynch and Orsi all have poor touches/passes that lead to goals.

  13. Outplayed by Falkirk today with their passing and running off the ball, no complaints about the result.  However, 1st goal came about after a push on Cm playing CB and then a free shot at goal, 2nd pretty crudely from a corner and the 3rd after our CM playing CB tries to play his way out of defending a pretty standard long ball.  I thought Falkirk were the best team I've seen this year in terms of passing sequences and pulling players/defences out of shape, but we contributed hugely to that scoreline

The penalty was clumsy (for a second week in a row from Carsy)

Just seen the highlights and its Joe McKee that's pulling the player back that commits the penalty offence I think.

    He's never a wide midfielder.

I noticed after the 2nd goal that paddy and Bucky were asking the linesman which of the back 4 had played Queens onside, seems to have been Edin.

Stevie again picked quite a cautious line up with 4 centre mids, none of which would run at their opponent with the ball much.

Queens were really worth the victory and I thought Brown and Longridge were excellent again.

  15. I cant believe that the gaffer put Dumbarton out into the 1st half in such a passive and fearful manner.  There was no pressure or anything assertive and it let Cove get a foothold in the game with a good goal while we were playing defence v attack.

I thought most of the team done reasonably well once we got going and was pleased for Paton to play 90 decent minutes.
