  1. A great first touch, a good protector of the ball and strong guy. Doesn't create, doesn't shoot. He'll sit in front of the defence and tidy up all day.

What should Stenhousemuir FC expect from Nat Wedderburn? I understand we're getting a lightening-fast midfielder with pace to burn, but what else will he bring to the table?
  2. The budget and the target set to the manager will be huge factors in the club deciding whether to keep Duffy or not. If it was stay in the league, he's done what was hoped for, if it was get into the top half for the league then that would be unrealistic with that budget.

I think what we've seen this year is a style of play intended to make us hard to beat. Duffys sacrificed entertainment for pragmatism. I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a new contract or him leaving due to concerns over the budget or a new signing policy brought in with the new owners.

I'm told the budget at DFC last season was the second lowest in the league and perhaps that was reflected in our squad selection, performances and final league position. It doesn't matter who is the manager next season, if we hope to finish higher, it will require more money.
  3. My reading of that is that it comes down to how the ground is structured and how the organisers can control the areas. I know everyone wants to blame the Govt here, but I feel that the clubs/SFA could do more.

Theres no reason I can think of to prevent a few hundred supporters getting in our ground. There's gates allowing access directly into the stand from outside and the teams could take the middle section of the stand for players etc. What might be an issue is whether the away team changes in the concourse under the home end or not, bearing in mind there's toilets there too.

If the 'safe' capacity for Hampden is deemed to be 600 then I reckon we might genuinely be in a situation where we're told we can 'safely' allow 60 fans to attend or something pathetic like that.

Howie out with a broken jaw and looking back at it, certainly looks like an arm is swung.

Hope he's fit again soon.   I think it was Omar that was involved in the challenge, just before he was subbed off.  Having only seen it once, I'm not sure what sort of contact there was.  It's a shame someone got injured because I think the tetchy nature of the game was one of the best parts of it.

  5. Does anyone have stats for the games that would detail average length of pass etc? I know that the long ball frustrates and is quite ineffective, but I wonder if part of our problem is that we want to play our way up the park, effectively filling the space and running out of room for shorter passes. Huntly sat off us in the first half and we then found spaces, but I felt Peterhead played differently.

I agree that Frizz and PJ need the ball at their feet, but they also need space to run into. Perhaps the front three could work, but with the two much wider?

  6. Define junkie please, that seems really unfair on the boy from what I've read.

So all these guys are looking to get out and kick a ball and keep themselves ticking over. Come on to f**k Jim, this should be the easiest window ever to get bodies in with everyone below League 2 not playing! Surely we're not gonna miss out on all the decent players at that level and be stuck with some dobbers and a junkie!
  7. All these junior players would be on good pay I would guess. We know that the likes of EK and Darvel are being heavily supported just now. I would also guess that there might be incentives, such as sign on fees, for those players to sign with senior teams.

Reading between the lines and giving Duffy some credit, maybe we dont have much or any transfer kitty to trade with?

Out of interest, does anyone have a list of Duffy signings?

  8. The Duffy kicking is getting a bit boring now guys, hopefully we get a good game on saturday and it cheers us all up.

I think Aitken had a much easier job attracting players and yet he still made some poor decisions. He would have had more money, a higher league and bigger teams to play against.

I dont know what Duffys budget is, but I guess he's shopping where he can. I think East Fife signed 3 kids on loan before Nathan Austin, perhaps they've put all their available money into that one signing?
