I don't mind the traditional shiteholes of Scotland. The Methils, Lochgilpheads and Cumnocks. It's places that rake in the money and still manage to be shiteholes that get me. Fort William is the shining example. Brodick and Kirkwall are right up there too. The first time I went to Arran I thought Brodick was going to be a great wee town with nice beer gardens and the like. It was shite.

Yes do it that way. The Ptarmigan path starts just past the Youth Hostel on the West Highland Way. You'll see the Ardess Ranger centre then a house with a big gate to your right. Cross the stream right next to the house and a path leads from there up the Ptarmigan.

I'm planning on doing the Cape Wrath Trail later this year. Is Glenfiinnan to A'Chuil and then onto Inverie fairly doable in two days with full kit? Also what are the river crossings like?
