  1. The two Opens can't really claim to be "open" if they bump guys just for playing at LIV. It's only a handful of guys who have long term exemptions for some of the majors. It would be incredibly petty imo if they stopped those exemptions, it's not as if the majority will get anywhere near troubling the engraver. Poulter and Westwood put a temporary halt to their slide down the rankings by picking up points at the Open. Others like Garcia, Grace, Oosthuizen all continue to slide.
  2. Worth remembering that Stenson got absolutely rinsed by Allen Stanford's ponzi scheme, rumours were he lost about 8 million. LIV will no doubt be handing it back to him.
  3. LIV at present hardly meets any of the OWGR criteria, size of field and number of events being the main 2. They are supposed to fulfil all the criteria for 12 months before they would be accepted on to the OWGR. They are planning an increase to the minimum 14 events next year, but if the owgr rules are applied to the letter then it would be 2024 before they would get ranking points even if they change the other stuff.
  4. I sacked it when they still had about 6 holes left. It's a great result for Laird as it lifts him to 98th on the FedEx and all but guarantees him his card for next year.
  5. Smith has the benefit of having a 5 year exemption for all the majors, I'm not sure any of them will change their entry criteria, bit will just rely on the LIV guys sliding down the OWGR and not qualifying. LIV are also getting close to the point where they either need to increase from 48 to 54 players, or they start to shed some bodies. Harding said at the Scottish last week that he hadn't signed a contract with LIV. There has to be a real fear though that with the majors done for the year then a fresh spate of defections could follow.

  7. 2 birdies in his last 3 holes has lifted Jamieson inside the top 20.
  8. Very much after the man event, but the final round of the Barracuda Championship is underway at Tahoe. It's a modified stableford system, 8 points for albatross, 5 points for eagle, 2 for birdie, 0 for par, -1 for bogey, -3 for double bogey or worse. Martin Laird currently 2nd, 5 points behind Chez Reavie. Scott Jamieson is T25th, another decent result for him.
  9. Ali Price not happy about getting a bit of stick.
  10. Hovland had never been better than T12 in a major before today, and I think it showed. He just never got going at all.
  11. And now Champion Golfer of the Year.
  12. As mentioned earlier, Rory and Hovland spurred each other on yesterday, with Hovland toiling today Rory seemed to slip into defensive mode.
  13. Paul McGinley right now.
  14. Rory needs a 2 on the last for a 68, he's given himself some chances today, but Smith gave himself better ones and holed the putts.
  15. Superb from Rory into 17, but means nothing if he doesn't hole it.
  16. Balls of steel from Smith. In other news, Garcia has quit the DP World Tour.
  17. Smith was about 2 clubs out there.
  18. That's 3 or 4 shots that Rory has pulled to the left today. You would think he has to hole that.
  19. How much easier would it be if you could drive it about 80% of their distance and straight?
  20. Tbf DJ plays a superb 3rd shot to have a chance of par.
  21. DJ hacking his way up 17.
  22. While Smith has holed just about everything. Cracking shot from Young on 15 and a great chance to go to 18 under.
