After the Petershill game was put off I went and met my uncle and his mate who have come up from Exeter for tonight's game. We were talking about the salary cap in England, it's getting cut from £6.5 million per year to £5m, which is going to have a huge impact on who the English clubs will be able to sign. They are allowed one marquee player that doesn’t count towards the cap, but with a squad of 45 or so then a saving of £1.5m will take a bit of doing. It might turn on to a big problem for England if players look to France for a big payday. As well as Skinner almost certainly Edinburgh bound, they reckon Johnny Gray will be leaving too. As much as they like him, he is an expensive asset who has only managed a couple of games this season.
