  1. Kyrgios 2 sets to one down against the guy from Lolita.
  2. Cheers. It was a good mix that was flung together by chance. One was scratch, one getting 8 shots, and me getting 15. The difference it made having a scratch player who hardy drops a shot was huge, and on the odd occasion he did make a horlicks of it one of the other two got a par at worst. We thought we were out of it at the turn as we were 31 (-5) at the turn, then didn't pick anything up in the next 3 holes either, but we were 7 under for the last 6, but disappointingly could only par the last. Did you get a nice sweep win? I got £48 the other week for winning division 3 in our stableford competition.
  3. Well done. Posted further up that we played a tri-am on Saturday and my team had a 59, which we didn't expect to be in the prizes. Turned out to be good enough for T3rd with only two 58s in front of us. As happy as I was that a couple of nett eagles and a few nett birdies I made contributed to the score, I'm still raging about the missed chance I had on 7 when I was putting for a nett eagle, but 3 jabbed it to walk off with a 5 for a nett par 4. 4. Fernandez Castano one of the 12 to make it through qualifying today. Detry was a couple of shots away from a playoff, Robert Rock another to miss out by a few shots.
  5. A stage win for Cavendish, not something I thought we would see at the Tour again.
  6. Pity. I was looking at the Ryder Cup standings, for months he was just outside the automatic qualifying spots on the world list, but since the double points period started he has fallen a fair bit behind. Victor Perez occupies the last automatic spot at the moment, Bob now has Lowry, Migliozzi, Wiesberger, Rose and Garcia to overhaul as well as Perez. He needs a good few weeks as he has also slipped to 51st on the OWGR from a high of 42nd after the Arnold Palmer.
  7. Gonzalo Fernandez Castano also tees it up tomorrow at St. Anne's Old, a 7 time winner on the European Tour. Jarmo Sandelin giving it a go at Princes.
  8. Bad news for the journalists going out to cover the Lions Tour. For 4 of the 6 weeks that they will be in SA the Lions will be based in Gauteng province, which is now accounting for 60% of the new Covid cases in the country.
  9. Don't know about "big" names, but there will certainly be a recognisable European tour player or two. Full lists aren't up yet, Lee Slattery is one that I've spotted. https://www.theopen.com/final-qualifying
  10. Regional qualifying done and dusted, with 207 players coming through. A field of 288 players goes out tomorrow spread over the same 4 venues, Princes, St. Anne's Old Links, Hollinwell and West Lancashire. 72 players at each venue playing 36 holes, with only the top 3 at each course booking a place in the open.
  11. Some finish by Bubba who was leading, playing the last 5 holes in 6 over par to finish 6 behind. The qualifier at St Annes is finally over.
  12. They finally called it a night at St Annes at about 10.30, 3 players coming back tomorrow at 8am to fight it out for the last spot in final qualifying.
  13. Bonkers to expect folk to play in that, they didn't even start at Princes as they knew the light was going fast with it being that bit further south.
  14. There are 9 going for 2 spots at Princes tomorrow morning, so probably some overnight camping in cars there. This isn't even for an Open spot, this is just to get in to final qualifying on Tuesdsy.
  15. Konta won the tourney at Nottingham a fortnight ago.
  16. Chilling after frenziedly chasing her toy mouse for 20 minutes or so.
  17. Saves her getting beat by some random jobber in Round 2.
  18. One or two in the kitchen depending on size? One chubby or two skinny folk?
  19. One of the T20 umpires has tested positive, meaning a change of officials for Tuesday's ODI. https://www.ecb.co.uk/news/2179623
  20. Bit of a strange article from Sarah Vine today about Hancock. You could easily be mistaken for thinking it might just be aimed at her husband, the lesser spotted Michael Gove.
