  1. Kreuziger had a decent go at it and caused some minor panic among the GC contenders as he had enough of a lead at one point to go up to second on GC. Noticed the last few days that the motorbikes have taken a more proactive approach to getting in between the riders and any arsehole fans on the climbs. I do wonder at times how they decide what sections to fence off, there were long parts of the descent fenced off during the TT the other day but only a handful of fans at them, while it was the usual free for all on the climb.
  2. Given some of the decisions so far, it's absolutely horseshit that Adam Yates has been given a 10 second penalty for accepting a handsling yesterday after he had to change bikes. Quintana getting a tow from a service moto was conveniently glossed over. Rain forecast for later today, the final descent into Morzine could be a bit hairy.
  3. Yep, shows again the importance of Cook and Root being on form, nobody else is producing runs at the moment.
  4. I know you don't like him or Sky but maybe it was because he had clattered his knee off the road and was in a bit of pain? A few heavy falls today, Pierre Rolland went sliding off the road and Mollema only just avoided going right into the trees at a roundabout. Biggest casualty was Tom Dumoulin who broke his wrist after crashing and had to abandon, and his Olympic TT hopes look in serious doubt now.
  5. Like many others the only thing he ever tested positive for was salbutamol, it's amazing how many top cyclists have asthma.
  6. Indurain? Never seemed to be in any trouble when he won 5 in a row.
  7. Porte looking the strongest of the rest with Aru also looking decent. Could see those two ending up on the podium on Sunday.
  8. It's not rocket science that if your own team is struggling then you sit on Froome's wheel and at some point try and launch an attack, but Quintana, Nibali etc haven't been able to try and claw anything back into Froome's lead. Good to see Porte at least having a go.
  9. You can blame Sky for many things, but it's not their fault that so many of the other supposed GC contenders are miles off the pace.
  10. Roy Orbison - It's Over Btw, spell check changes Orbison to Ormiston, what a stage name that would be.
  11. Confirmed by Cavendish on Facebook that he won't be starting in the Tour tomorrow.
  12. Brilliant finish today, belter of a climb just before the finish with Sagan edging out Kristoff by a bawhair on the line.
  13. But it's worth remembering that he didn't bestow that status upon himself, the UCI and others were guilty of that. Yes, he absolutely treated others like shite, especially the likes of Emma O'Reilly and Betsy Andreu, but that doesn't make him any more of a cheat than Riis or Vinokourov, it just makes him an utter c**t.
  14. I agree with the last part, but as mentioned why only him? Why does Armstrong have "no place in cycling" when other cheats are welcome?
  15. Definitely some double standards have been applied. E.g. Armstrong was stripped of all his Tour wins but Ullrich and others placings still stand, Ulrich was stripped of his results from 2005 when he was almost certainly doping for as long as Armstrong did. How they can expect people to believe that the sport has been cleaned up when the guys you named are still running teams defies all logic to me.
  16. I think most normal people would think that when you reach the point that you have to sleep with a heart monitor and a supply of Warfarin ready to inject then maybe you have gone a wee bit too far. As Armstrong said though in relation to what he took, he didn't even consider that he was cheating because everyone else was doing it too, that attitude still prevails with a lot of folk.
  17. That's bizarre, I know there are a lot of gantries and stuff that hang down from the Hydro roof but they look well over 12m off the deck to me.
  18. Just noticed that Ward and Tipsarevic played out the dead rubber with Tipsarevic winning 2-1.
