  1. What surprised me about the set list once the tour hit Europe was that they dropped a lot of The River album, which they had been playing in it's entirety on the US leg. Not complaining though because if they had then a lot of the best songs from last night would have been dropped. I'd been watching a lot of YouTube vids beforehand including Danny Federici's last ever performance of Sandy, not ashamed to say I was very misty eyed when they played it last night. That last hour or so was the best I've had at a gig anywhere, the time flew in. Sad f**k that I am, I sat at work last night and looked back at the playlists from the 3 gigs I've seen. 64 different songs, and only Badlands, Promised Land, Born to Run and Dancing in the Dark were played at all 3.
  2. The whole place was done up with a grant that was based on it being an athletics stadium, and that's where the council's problem lies. I'm sure that they will be studying all the legalities involved in the grant and what the likelihood of them being asked to repay the money would be if athletics was no longer the primary use.
  3. I wonder who pissed in Tom's cornflakes that morning?
  4. I was amazed at the amount of latecomers, even though the ticket said show at 6.30 there were loads of folk around me who didn't take their seats until well into the show. Special mention to the 3 in the row in front who finally showed up at about 8.15.
  5. It was superb, never thought I would hear that tonight along with a few others. Sandy was another I didn't expect, thank you to whoever had those two on their cards. 3rd time I've seen him and that was the best yet, sound wasn't perfect where I was sitting in the early parts of the show but they seemed to get it sorted but took a while. Happened to be walking past as his motorcade left from under the north stand with Bruce sitting right up front waving to all and sundry.
  6. Can't understand how people can work up such a seethe about a TV show. Watched it with an open mind after reading reviews on here and elsewhere. Was it as good as Top Gear was at it's best 4/5/6 years ago? No. Was it noticeably worse than the last couple of series? No, imo. Evans admitted on radio last week that one mistake they had made was seriously underestimating the time required to record the studio segments, so I think that ended up a bit hurried and didn't help. It was also LeBlanc's first shot in a presenter role, I think he'll be OK once he settles into it. They had already recorded episode 2 prior to the first one being aired, so any changes that are made from the feedback they get won't be seen until the third one. Imo Evans was trying too hard to be like Clarkson, and I had thought we would have seen more of the other presenters. I did like the new track with the off road sections.
  7. Cook gets the 5 runs he needed, youngest player to reach 10,000 test runs.
  8. Didn't see any of Sri Lanka's second innings but very surprised they have gone over 300. Saw a stat that they were the first test team since 1958 to score less than 120 in 3 consecutive innings.
  9. Wow. 8/10. Embarrassingly got the flag one wrong along with Idi Amin. Couple of right lucky guesses (border and young Australian), it can (and will) only go downhill from here.
  10. Sri Lanka need 397 to make England bat again, I wouldn't even back them to get 97, never mind the rest.
  11. It won't help Cook regain his form if he keeps only getting one shot at batting, and on the whole England won't have learned a lot from this series so far. Been a few decent performers but they haven't had to be anywhere near their best against what has been a very poor Sri Lankan side. Hales has certainly staked a claim to be the opener long term.
  12. Great fightback but ultimately gave Saracens too much of a start. Alex Goode scored late on to seal the win at 28-20. Mystifying how Mike Brown gets picked before him. Itoje is going to be some player.
  13. Saracens lead Exeter 23-6 at half time in the Premiership final, Chiefs kicking far too much possession away. Scotland centre Duncan Taylor scored a good try.
  14. And the fielders were spread out like vomit, very easy to just nudge it about and keep the scoreboard ticking. England declared on 498-9.
  15. Haven't a clue tbh. Dropping/missing some decent chances this morning obviously wasn't part of the plan though. Unless the plan is for another innings defeat.
  16. What time did he start? Need to plan what time to get there for on Wednesday.
  17. Zakarin seems to have got away with a broken collarbone, bad enough but could have been a lot worse.
  18. Exactly, he looked gubbed in all the previous mountain stages so to say that today's performance was a shock is an understatement.
  19. Yep, definitely joking. Two poor dismissals so far this series, but plenty of time left to get into form for the rest of the summer.
  20. If Cook keeps getting out as cheaply as he has in these two matches they'll be looking for another one!
  21. Remarkable return to form today for Nibali, reminiscent of Armstrong on Mont Ventoux in 2009....
