  1. I expected Brechin to be better than they were and yet they were still comfortable winners in the end. Even if we manage to sort out the defence, there's absolutely nothing in that team that will win us a match. We dominated possession for the first 35 minutes of the match but were absolutely clueless about what to do with the ball. Scullion and Cuddihy as the two in front of a defence will never work because they're both incapable of taking the ball off a centreback in tight spaces. Forbes was ineffective with the ball bit at least gave them am option once he was moved to the centre. I'm hoping McCulloch is just having a rocky start but right now he's a downgrade on Ross Lyon which is saying something. Jon Craig's form dipped towards the end of last season and he's started this season worse. That's a real sign of some great coaching going on... I emailed the board to express my disgust with them when they reappointed Duffy & McLean and actually slightly regretted it later thinking I might have been harsh. In hindsight, I wasn't harsh enough. Not that I got a response anyway. Keeping a failed manager who's never been good at signing players as Director of Football, appointing a failed captain/coach as Head Coach, and then resigning a bunch of players who got us relegated is beyond unforgiveable. And not forgetting that the Gordon Thomson told us there's no issues with communication. It's hard to say accurately when you don't know all the ins and outs but, from the outside, Thomson could easily be the worst Chariman the club has had in my 30 years supporting Clyde.
  2. Very nice goal though the defence were just caught too high up the pitch and then simply outpaced.
  3. Going into a game with a central pair of Forbes and Cameron was never going to work out well, especially when they were playing about 40 yards away from each other. The change at half time to tuck Cuddihy and Scullion into a tighter three made us worse though and gave Hamilton even more space to play in. Dunachie did fairly well in meat & potatoes just get yourself in front of the ball/kick it whatever way you're facing kind of a way. Mulvanney worked hard, much harder than Rennie, but to little effect. Parry made some good saves but is still a shambles under crosses and his distribution kills us. Nice to have your expectations for the season lowered even further early doors.
  4. I'm not sure from 35 minutes onwards counts as late in the game.
  5. A shambles made more embarrassing by the fact they've announced this without even being able to show us the new kit. Surely it would have made sense to overrule the away kit vote and just go with whichever of the other kits came second. Some people would have moaned anyway but going with red and burgundy kits is a joke.
  6. My main query from skimming through the Crownpoint documents was how much scope will there be for the club itself to actually make money there. The idea in the past has always been if we had our own ground and could rent out the pitch and other facilities during the week we could make money from it. Clearly the bid from the Foundation was trying to make them sound like they would be best placed to run the whole site and that they would be keen to deal with all the current, past and potential users of Crownpoint. But with so many mentions of schools and clubs, including St Mungos IIRC having rights to use it essentially any time during school hours, how much scope will there really be for the club itself to make money from the site outside of normal football days, match day catering etc. Especially when the Foundation has to make enough money to maintain and improve the place. Maybe they will build in an agreement that certain areas of the site will be run by the club with them keeping the profits or maybe we will just take a small cut of sales but you can't imagine thar would be very much.
  7. Wales down to 10 men after Morrell catches someones thigh with his studs. Can’t have any complaints… so typically the co-commentator has done nothing but.
  8. I dont think Doherty is quite as bad as some of our support make out but he's an awkward player to know what to do with and certainly an odd signing, even if the transfer fee would have been minimal. He does run the channels well and enjoyed a physical battle but he's certainly not a winger. Neither does he look like he will ever be a natural goalscorer and there were plenty of times when he was playing as our only striker but, if we had the ball outwide, he'd want to linger around the edge of the box leaving the penalty area completely empty. I don't think he's as unfit as he looks but because he's a big guy he often struggled to win free kicks even when he was clearly being fouled. And he tends to pick up cheap bookings and can be a bit petulant.
  9. With the owners meeting tomorrow night hopefully they'll announce a few deals in the morning to try and put people in a better mood before it.
  10. McLean might well turn out to be a decent head coach and if another club had decided to take a chance on him then that's fair enough. However, after such an awful season I expect turnover in the managerial and playing staff, not just a reshuffling of positions. If we don't get off to a good start in the new season it just carries on the malaise from last season and becomes even harder to turn around.
  11. That is extremely disappointing. After a truly terrible season we needed to refresh things but we've moved our failed manager to Director of Football and failed captain & coach to Head Coach. Our board's efforts are completely pathetic at times. We genuinely deserve to be fighting against relegation again next season.
  12. A small but nice distraction for the time being with an away kit vote. Green for me.
  13. In theory I don't mind the board trying to put out a vaguely balanced message before asking the members their opinion but that statement is just a rambling mess. They also forget that what a positive difference a strong, timely statement can make. If you go all the way back to Rangers going bust, for example. Rangers along with the league themselves, tried to bully other clubs to force Rangers back into tier 2 so they could be back in the top tier within a year. Clyde were one of the first clubs to come out with a very strong statement opposing that and got a lot of praise from both our own and other clubs fans for doing so. Whereas on the Conference league it's taken us weeks and weeks to say anything at all, and then when we do speak it's a meek, poorly worded statement that doesn't truely indicate the board's position. There was the making of a decent statement somewhere in there - like taking the smallest of swipes at the Lowland League for allowing B teams in and neglecting clubs trying to reach that level - but it's undermined by all the other waffle.
  14. To be fair, he only passed up about six chances to clear the ball before giving the ball away.
  15. I'm not at all surprised the board have decided to side step making an actual footballing decision. It's kind of an easy out for them to shift the responsibility for replacing Duffy onto the man himself. Duffy is probably more qualified than the current board to make football decisions but that still doesn't make him the right appointment. It also means Duffy is starting with zero breathing space, from fans anyway. He wasn't exactly popular as manager first time round, and opinions of him have only deteriorated this season. The board had a chance to refresh things by clearing out the failed recruitment and management teams but instead have tied the new "Head Coach" to Duffy. If next season doesn't start well, Duffy will (correctly) immediately receive criticism ahead of any new coach.
  16. At least we won't have to play against him again as even Goodwillie struggled against him.
  17. Duffy and Swift to go immediately please. I fear the board will keep Swift just to save them having to make an actual footballing decision. On the players... Keep: Mullen - not quite as good as some are making out and will likely have a shaky spell at some point next season but he's more than earned his chance. Salkeld - Can't see him staying though. Sula - I don't fancy us replacing an entire defence in one summer so someone has to stay. Sula has potential but it's a shame he's actually a 27 year old who still plays like an inexperienced 19 year old. Ray Grant - Been a good player previously and the fact he didn't exactly hit it off at Alloa or Stirling, plus his injury, should make him easier to keep a hold of. Maybe: Roberts - Hit good form for a while but ultimately has very little end product. Maybe shining at League 2 level would actually suit him better than being not bad at League 1 but he'll probably look for better options. Scullion - If he's dirt cheap. Thanks but no thanks: Cuddihy - Hasn't played consistently well since we got promoted and his injuries just seem to increase year on year. Maybe years of running constantly for the full 90 minutes in every single game has just caught up with him. McLean - Shown some flashes of his former talents but not enough and pretty poor as a leader considering his lengthy experience. Duthie - Has undoubted talent but unfortunately lacking the heart or commitment to match (maybe harsh and I'd happily be proven wrong). Loanees: McGeever - Contracted with Dumbarton next year but if for some stupid reason they wanted rid, I'd take him permanently and hope he stays fit. Goodbye: Everyone else (including those contracted ideally).
  18. Congratulations to Annan. The much more effective team and more than capable to putting the ball in the back of the net, unlike ourselves. We will deservedly become a League 2 team again but the club is such a shambles at the moment there's no guarantee that'll mean we actually win more games next season.
  19. That was probably the worst injury I've seen in 25+ years going to football. Our shape has obviously gone to pot now and any faint chance of a comeback is basically gone. No composure either which isnt helped when experienced players like McLean just shell it long half the time. Annan have done well to keep Roberts out the game but he needs to go looking for space. A bit of shame as Annan have offered nothing tonight, though that's not to say they wouldn't step it up if we did score. And they obviously earned the right to sit on their lead on Tuesday night.
  20. 2 goals down and not having extra balls out on the opposite side of the pitch is beyond amateurish.
  21. But posting cryptic messages is definitely part of the solution.
