  1. I do wonder what the morale is like at the moment? Robbie has brought in all this “quality’ , the existing squad will have had their feathers ruffled - and confidence shot ? Calling them out publicly hasn’t helped either. Not as disastrous as last January but we’ve made no headway with results. Next 4 weeks crucial.
  2. What’s his form been like with the other clubs he owns? If he buys, gets bored quickly then asset strips, we have a problem. If he takes a long view, invests appropriately and supports the manager then we may have reasonable grounds for optimism. I also don’t buy the whole merger scheme. Depending on how much it costs to run Tannadice vs rent on a new ground that may be tempting, but that’s only if we don’t get promoted.
  3. Thank f**k he did ! Cheers for that btw. On the other topic we’ve had the arabtrust for years as the quasi official fan group with real involvement in the club. Think there would need to be an amalgamation of all the different groups to increase confidence in a fan investment scheme.
  4. Anyone goto the Monday evening event with Neilson ? Any chat from that?
  5. The laszlo chapter in the “banter years” book closes in ignominy. Really thought he had the experience to do the business for us, but at no point in his tenure did it seem to click for him, with the old squad, his new squad this season, and in particular with the fans. Reminds me of Mixu in that it looked like he had a well thought out game plan in his mind, but was over complicated and too elaborate for the squad to deliver. A decent guy but wrong place, wrong time for him at United. Who next? Given how mentally weak our teams have been over that last few seasons, someone who is credible and the team believe in/ can get them believing in themselves is essential. Also someone who can get the team playing as a organised unit, where they all know what is expected of them, and can execute the basics. Neilson would be my pick, but ultimately some like like tommy wright would be ideal.
  6. A catastrophic defeat away to Falkirk would hasten his exit, but overall I recon it’ll be late October at the very earliest before Martin would push the button. He would be able to save face then , saving he earned to give him a chance with his new squad etc etc.
  7. A solid defender? That sort of talk just won’t be accepted. We’re in the banter years mate, and we don’t do solid defending.
  8. Great goal and what was interesting is we actually played some football in the lead up to it. Less lumping it up the park like last week, and more of that and we might do all right.
  9. Think you’re on the money re Laszlo. Unless we have a catastrophic series of results, we’re stuck with him until a take over. God knows what any potential new owner made of that today. We had a previous manager in Ray who refused to make a sub until it was far to late. Now we have a manager who makes a sub at exactly the wrong moment in a game. ( and arguably the wrong sub). Same thing happened in the Livingston game, iirc. Each previous season I have started thinking we have the quality in the team to win the league. This time I don’t think we have the quality or the right manager. Hope I’m wrong.
  10. It means we’re in for another bumpy ride this season - and I’m not talking about sex in the back of a moving car either.
  11. Thanks everyone that was great. Will one of the mods give us a “Jerry’s final thoughts “ type post or is there still more fuel in the tank?
  12. Re laszlo - he has nowhere to hide. No one left to throw under the bus , other then himself. There seems to be a plan with regards to recruitment is that gives hope that there’s a game plan too, and that laszlo is able to get the squad to gel and start working as a team. Maybe he’ll be better with the burger man beside him giving him the support he needs? Time will tell, but he won’t have a lot of that before he’s shown the door in October if the team isn’t delivering the business on the park. The clock is set at four minutes to midnight for laszlo on day one of the season.
  13. I prefer to think of it as us trying to recruit hard working players with the right attitude as opposed to wage thieves, but time will tell I guess? It’s a physically hard, high tempo league where every team puts in a shift against us - I’d be worried about the injury risk to anyone joining at the tail end of their career.
  14. I’d be more than happy if we sign a monster CB with an upside down pentangle on his forehead. But a bow tie? Wrong on so many levels. You took this picture in Carnoustie, right?
  15. It’s a thing to behold isn’t it? Sevconian seethe that he has come to us is astonishing, their hatred of United is another reason we need promoted as quickly as possible. They’d have seizures just thinking about the fixture.
  16. I think we’ll take a team of mediocre players that have a good attitude, work rate and play for one another. ( over and above the laszlo factor)
  17. Fantastic memories. Their poxy banner , wall of seethe at “zombie”, wild goal celebrations, and finally as you say, Nads rubbing salt into their wounds with that goal. Owned by Dundee United that day, at ibrox, pleasing.
  18. We’re not the funsters.........yet. You own that one, at least until our second admin.
  19. Eastern European monsters in defence, fancy dans in mid field, poaching b*****ds up front. That’ll do
