  1. Shout out to the miserable b*****ds that sit behind me in the Geo Fox lower who moaned about United for the full 90 minutes, even when we were three nil up and they’d watched Tony Watt bag a hatrick. God loves you but I do not. Perhaps we can have moaning section next to the singing section, as a kind of ying-yang type of experiment? Aside from that, enjoyed the game, Fotheringham really developing game by game. Sibald put in another great shift.
  2. Fair play to Morton, they had a game plan to be physical and get in our faces and it certainly worked in the second half. We had good composure in the first, but the second it didn’t click, and with all the nonsense happening in the penalty box, we lost the head and got a man sent off. It’ says something when Goodwin is telling them to calm down. Also conceded a comedy goal. Must work harder to kill of games and be more ruthless. Positives - great ball in and finish for our goal. More of that please.
  3. Excellent advice all round there. Ta. I’ll try to get there really early and pick up some smokies as well. maybe a fish supper before the game too. All the delights that Arbroath can offer. Still fancy a United win.
  4. Looking forward to this where’s best to park ? Was disinterested in the cup games, for me it’s all about promotion. Lots of encouraging chat about an actual team of footballers working together so fingers crossed it’s United that do that and not Arbroath. 2-1 United.
  5. I’d say more frustration and anger than apathy. There’s massive pressure on the manager and the team already. No real sense that we have a finished product yet and that progress is being made. Can’t see who is going to step up and be a big player for us this season.
  6. There’s also the issue that a number of players have just shat it. Not up for the fight and unable to deal with the situation that hey have created for themselves. Poor leadership on the field and no one wanting to take responsibility. A worse squad than the one that got us relegated last time?
  7. A must not lose game for United. Anything we get from this will help us. High tempo and focus from the get go.
  8. Giving Niskanen more game time to help improve his chances at scoring sitters? Worth a try.
  9. Liam Fox’s tactics of don’t blame the players, blame me, clearly didn’t work with regards to motivation, so I think Goodwin should do the opposite and name and shame the wanks that aren’t pulling their weight. He has nothing to loose and any player with an ounce of professionalism will get their act together to avoid the public shame . The others can get benched and booed at half time when they warm up.
  10. An experienced manager who is credible and has a record of success would be able to facedown the shite bags in the squad. Who has that pedigree that would also want to work under Ashgar? Can’t see it happening. suspect it will be Mulgrew.
  11. The defence don’t trust the keeper/s to do their job and vice a versa. Massive issue, to be added to the list of all the other issues we have at the mo.
  12. No chance pal, you’re not strategic enough in your strategy. Dundee United - only for those with an MBA
  13. Changing the mood a little , re Ogren getting his money back. Over a few years (2011- 2015, I think ) we sold Russell £750k Goodwillie £2million Armstrong can’t remember Mackay-Stevens can’t remember Chifci £1 m? Gauld £2 million ? Robertson £ 2 million ? The later with ad ons Can’t be arsed looking up the exact figures but you get my point. It can be done.
  14. Say he manages only 5 points from the opening 9 matches. I imagine we’d be stuck at the bottom of the table, and the owners would be flying in for crisis talks. Not unrealistic, as that performance is what got McNamara the sack. Who knows? Hopefully he’ll mastermind a decent start which will settle all of our nerves.
  15. Yeah , I should have said “in the short term”. The buck now stops with Ashghar. His man, his plan. Huge amount of pressure and expectation on him to make this work, not just from the fans but from the owners.
  16. This certainly consolidates Ashgars position in the club, and will re-assure the Ogrens that the young lads will be played with a view to developing the next Andy Robertson. That’s a great plan and you can imagine the PowerPoint presentations, but it all goes out the window if the results don’t come in. ( in what is being billed as being the most competitive leagues to come in some years) Where will courts credibility with the players and the fans come from if we get off to a sticky start? What experience will he draw on ? Hopefully he will have developed excellent relationships, with the squad that will put a shift in for him. If he hasn’t then we will have a new manager by November.
  17. Lol, well quite. My Dee pals recon he’s done f**k all, but now they’re up, I’m sure they will change their tune.
  18. I think this is really important. You want a manager that instils the right attitude and belief in the team, and who players will go the extra mile for. Accountability and responsibility to each other. It’s easy to do well with a decent squad (McNamara), much more difficult with an average squad, which is what we have. Getting them to perform at a higher level will only come if they know the manager is the ultimate decision maker. As for a director of football. Isn’t that what Strachan is meant to be doing at Funland? Questionable what impact he’s had ?
  19. God the state of that display ! Seriously camp. I fancy A sneaky 1-0 win for United.
  20. My fault, sorry lads. Just all that chat about Mellon being a bad manager and then being asked the question, I thought I’d put it out there. Shankland will be hungry AF for for more goals, Saturday will have done his and the teams confidence no end of good.
  21. Houston a good shout, for the cup alone. It does kind of highlight the job Tommy `Wright did at St Johnstone. Laszlo was special in all the wrong ways.
  22. On the subject of managers, who’s been our best manager in the last 10 years? I was asked by my Dad, and struggled to find a good candidate.
  23. Sad day for the club and everyone who cheered his teams on to such amazing achievements. Our , and arguably one of Scottish footballs greatest managers. We will never see his like again.
