  1. What was the turnout for this vote though? Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the Spanish authorities current actions in any way.
  2. On the basis of a 42% turnout for an unofficial referendum? Could very well alienate more Catalans than support their cause. Wasn't there an official referendum in Catalonia a few years ago?
  3. I wasn't doubting that respect. Peoples motives for not bothering to vote however.......
  4. Would make sense if it was an unofficial referendum in many respects. Why would you bother otherwise?
  5. Saw a snake bathing in the sun on the road whilst I was out for a walk this morning. Turned out to be one of these little fuckers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhabdophis_tigrinus
  6. what was the turnout in the referendum?
  7. I'd expect that sort of behaviour on a building site not in an office!
  8. "Scotland failed to qualify for the World Cup because of bad genetics" G. Strachan
  9. It really is a great service but without trying to get political, you have to wonder how feasible it is in the long term given the costs highlighted.
  10. Not sure if this is the right place to post this but given I've used this thread to keep you informed of my daughters treatment..... I was going through the paperwork from Sakura's treatment and noticed that there was monthly costings within the information. I totted them up from her 1st treatment in December last year to her discharge from hospital in September. £131,000+! Now obviously we didn't have to pay any of that as children under 5 (15 in some Prefectures including this one) receive free health care but it makes you think about how the NHS manages. On a more important note, Sakura is doing well. fortnightly bloods continuing to go in the right direction plus shes growing and developing like any other 16 month old.
  11. I can understand the nostalgia about vinyl records as unlike today, you didn't have immediate access to listen to a song or an album unless it came on the radio or TV. Buying the vinyl in itself became a pastime in that you'd go down to the record shop on a Saturday and listen to loads of songs before deciding which one to buy. The artists would also be pretty creative with the sleeves of the vinyl which gave you something tangible. Probably the reason people from this era always remember their first record. It's just changing behaviour due to changing technology. Totally with you on shit like housework though.
  12. I once paid for 2 beef curries & chips with TC bottles. The owner of Watsons cafe chippy in Perth wasn't amused.
  13. With a diet of lucozade and Mars bars I'm surprised Ravel Morrison hasn't tried a move to Scotland....
  14. She's got forearms like a rugby league player!
  15. You have to admit that the tiara made all the difference.....
  16. Don't be naive. Raising awareness is every bit as good as raising money. Puerto Ricans will be rehydrated in the knowledge that James Cordon has posted a picture of his younger self in order to highlight their lack of running water and electricity. If only he'd "brave the shave" then he could add curing cancer to his impressive CV.
  17. Are the former Stasi favourites, Dynamo Dresden any closer to the Bundasliga these days?
  18. The year Paddy Winston was in charge might have been the time my old man was called into the squad.
  19. They probably see it as publicity and think it will help their falling sales figures.
