Sadly not. I can see it from our hotel room window. It was only a 4 on the Japanese earthquake scale, so not that big. The entire hotel was shaking for about a minute though. A bit worrying when on the 9th floor!

I read an interesting book recently that mentioned. Israeli historian, Shlomo Sand's findings that questioned Palestine being the ancestral land of Jewish people. He points to Israeli geneticist, Eran Elhaik's research that traces the origins of the Ashkenazim Jews (Founding Jews) was actually in Northeast Turkey. The irony of ironies would be that the majority of Palestinians driven from their ancestral home over the last 100years were probably decedents of the original Jews that converted to Islam in the 7th century!
