We desperately needed any body at LB and he filled in OK there last season so that’s a decent pick up. We need forwards and some pace/guile in this team pronto tho. The real test comes now however, the resignings and the Duffyite signatures are now complete. How we fill the rest of this squad will determine where this season heads. If we’re hoping it’s this and five/six jobbers from the exit trials, then buckle up.

I quite liked Cusack, but most of the names there are back in shudder territory. I’m going for Scott Findlay John Kane, Craig Tully, Mark Casey, Andrew Traub Paul Slane, Nicki Paterson, Kevin Finlayson, Conn Boyle Adam Coakley, Mark Archdeacon, Rob Jones (maybe not fair in this company but genuinely couldn’t stand him). There are likely worse players but these stand out in my head.

He was one I hoped would sign on, thought he improved at the tail end of the season and is the sort of young player that we can develop in L2 fingers crossed.

Good European representation at the top of the board with Hatton, Fleetwood and Rose so that bodes well. The top eight of the Europe RC team actually looks pretty good - Rahm, Rory, Hovland, Fitzpatrick, Rose, Fleetwood, Hatton and Lowry (although his form hasn’t been the best). It’s the other four that the US will have a real edge, there aren’t any LIV players that will really change that from the Euro perspective. It will actually make them stronger with DJ, Koepka and possibly Reed.

These signings don’t sound overly hopeful for resigning Sula who was a player I was really keen on retaining for next year

If anyone was under any doubt Duffy is signing the players, then Ross Forbes’ arrival will confirm that completely. It doesn’t feel like the Mortimer/Page/Big Rob Jones signing day yet, but I’m hardly breaking out the bunting here
