Follow Follow Rangers. Season 2023/24
Jinky67 replied to The_Kincardine's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
Mate like I said you have to apply context to numbers for them to make any sense a binary way of looking at things doesn’t work for me so I gave you my opinion already. And my bravado comes from the fact based on their relative performance with a similar squad there is a 1 point difference between Gio and Gerrard ( that’s without taking into account the impact of Rangers current injuries) and secondly it’s not an emotional Neil Lennon in charge of Celtic. So yeah I genuinely would love to see him back as again in my opinion it would be a disaster for Rangers -

Not really mate, in my opinion 4 points is pretty negligible in the grand scheme of things when it comes to performance especially when their is nothing to show for that and tbf the only thing you probably highlight is that Stevie G was underperforming at the time he left especially considering the previous season. Let me apply context to that for you though when Gerrard left you had 30 points after 13 games, Gio after 13 had 29? But yet Gio is considered to be massively underperforming yet Gerrard was “outperforming” Ange. Feel free to take it as a win as I know they are hard to come by just now but it certainly isn’t the win you think it is -

Ok I take it all back I didn’t realise the gap was so huge. Now I know Celtic only had their worst start since the Lou Macari days and were rebuilding pretty much an entire squad so were pretty threadbare but that should not detract from that level of higher performance. Genuinely a miracle we were able to close that gap at all. -

Without Michael Beale who well all know is one of the biggest reasons as to why he was successful further underpinned by how much of a shit show Villa became once he went to QPR. Furthermore he isn’t popular with all Rangers fans in the same BR is to Celtic fans, he left you for more money and the club as a consequence lost the league and significant ground on Celtic. And how do you measure out performing as it seems to be Ange has won double the trophies Stevie G has and done so in a single season either way I hope you get him -

Swiss Ramble doing his piece in Celtic this morning. Really good reading showing just how well we are being run. 6 of the last 7 seasons where made profit and that 1 due to Covid and 1 of the only 4 of leading European clubs to make some sort of profit. -
But it wasn’t a big dirty foul was it? Maybe you should go look up what the different phases of play are and when VAR steps in for yourself and that way avoid looking a bit silly
-
For a goal VAR only checks the attacking phase. The attacking phase only begins once Turnbull gets the ball and looks to attack. I thought this was common knowledge, guess not.

Something has to spook us as it isn’t going to come from Govan by the looks of it -
VAR in Scottish Football

Agreed someone needs to get them across the law and have them apply it consistently. I can only comment on our games however comparing the one we didn’t get against you and the one given agains let us yesterday are very similar yet the decision and use of VAR are very different, you could even throw the one we got against Livi into the mix. None are penalties imo if you correctly apply the IFAB handball rule but 2 are given. -

And the inconsistency of its application how this one is given as a penalty and the Michael Smith one wasn’t is inexplicable. -

Yeah he needs to be at least 0.0685436 seconds quicker. I’ll be sure to pass on the feedback. I concur, Haksabanovics close control for the winner was expertly done. Boys a player. -

There was a 9 point swing in our favour last Jan/Feb when all signs were pointing to Rangers winning the league. They bin GVB now, get players fit and give a new guy this month to work with them and recruit in Jan then who knows. How likely that is I don’t know but what no one at Celtic including fans should get complacent -

Nick Walsh wasn’t the referee today and I assume you think that was a legitimate handball then? -

I suppose that depends on the volume and frequency of posts but you are a qualified as me to make that assessment since you are on Celtic match threads just as often as I am -

Coming from a guy watching and commenting on a Celtic game at the same time his “team” is playing at home Oh no I love when opposition fans have issue with football fans celebrating. What the f**k do they want us to do or is their entire football experience that soulless? Glad mines isn’t, almost put my back out when the winner went in. -
I don’t see any Celtic fan on here arguing vehemently that the decision was wrong unlike the wrong decision not to send your player off, just that the tinpot view shown at the time doesn’t really do anything to prove it is or it isn’t and the time it takes to make a lot of decisions is a bit silly. If you are a fan of it fair enough but it’s not for me
-
It’s not about the system being against us as few people are actually complaining about the offside decision itself it’s about paying £200k a season that has shown so far that it can take too long and those operating it are making too many errors and refs seem to want to abdicate responsibility for decision making to it. Its shit, get it in the fucking bin as we are no better off with it than without it
-
It wasn’t headed to Turnbull, Haksabanovic had zero clue the ball was being thrown at him and he made zero attempt to play the ball so it was deflected off him, it’s a subtle but important detail however it’s not something VAR would look at, they would only look at it from the moment Turnbull picks up the ball not how it arrived at him hence why the media haven’t mentioned it. And by griping about it the way you are makes you a bit of a moaning c**t too
-
Then what is the point of having VAR if you cannot definitively tell what is and isn’t onside?
-
Another quick VAR decision
