Storey, Keown and Barton could all have done a job for us in the Championship next season but I don't think for a moment that any one of the three will want to hang around Firhill any longer than was absolutely necessary. Leagues 1 or 2 in England will provide them with an equal or better income and shorter journey times to the bosom of their families.
Funny how Gary Miller's reputation has developed amongst Thistle posters on here since he left. I remember him as a decent enough, depenable if unspectacular full back/ centre back but certainly not someone whose presence in a rival's squad would give me cause to think they had the edge over us.
Exactly the sort of thing I would have posted last night if I hadn't been just a teensy bit pished. Sent from my SM-J510FN using Pie and Bovril mobile app
Seems to me it's just a guy trying to ingratiate himself with the supporters of his new club. I really don't get the current Ryan Edwards hate-in. He did the best he could while he was here and now he has quite legitimately got himself a better gig elsewhere. Good luck to the guy.
Not if you actually read the whole thing. He has a quick moan about the way he found found out he was being punted and was then very complimentary. I can't believe he used the word "gotten" though. Disgraceful behaviour.
There seems to be a lot of regret at the departure of Lawless but it's worth remembering that, apart from a few good performances at the tail end of the season, he's been as rank rotten as the rest of them. I don't think he made anymore of an impact over last season as a whole than the much maligned Blair Spittal.
Appointing a new manager is of course a risk as is keeping the current one. I don't mind either way but as someone pointed out earlier we are already weeks behind our competition in building a new squad. If we sack Archie tomorrow how long before a new man would be appointed? How long would it take him to appraise the current squad and identify signing targets? Unless of course we give Scott Paterson the gig. Hardly an exciting prospect but appointing the assistant seemed to work out well enough for St. Johnstone.
Let's not pretend he had a big fat budget either. I think overall he did well to keep us up as long as he did. I didn't think he was a great manager when we finished top 6 and I don't think he's a useless one now.
