  1. No matter how Utd try to sell this appointment it is the cheap option and a massive gamble. If we get off to a poor start i expect the supporters will make their feelings clear very quickly and i would expect most of the anger if this happens to be towards Asghar and not the management team
  2. His team is listed as Rangers so clearly not Tam but in fact big Tony.
  3. Hate to say it but congratulations St Johnstone, cup double is a fantastic achievement
  4. Fuchs showed tonight he is far better playing central than to the right of a 3 as he has recently. Getting Fuchs in Butchers spot and bring in a midfielder capable of playing forward passes would be a big step in the right direction for next season.
  5. Killie in the bottom 2 and no injuries picked up the only positives to take from todays shitshow
  6. United players not giving a f**k today, embarrassing performance
  7. Brilliant today, not let down by a single player. Would love to see more of the Harkes and McNulty we saw today and what a big player Edwards has become, big man wins everything.
  8. Pawletts new deal better be on hugely reduced terms. So far this season we have seen new contracts for Connolly, Harkes, Clark, Smith & now Pawlett, with Smith being the only one that most would agree on (Clarks new deal would be acceptable if he was being played as a forward). These deals are a bit concerning for me if the club truly wish to progress as we should surely be looking at improving & replacing a large amount of the first team but that isn’t looking like the case.
  9. Given both teams situations and our starting lineup the result was no great shock but the biggest worry for me was some of our worst performers tonight were players who are likely to be involved at the weekend (Robson, Deniz & Sporle).
  10. If you have 7 or 8 quality experienced players playing most weeks then it’s easier to integrate 2 or 3 youngsters into the starting 11 but currently we don’t have the quality to do that and if Mellon had filled the team with kids just to please the higher uppers then I’m pretty sure our return to the top flight would have been a short one. I would like nothing better than to see several academy players in the starting lineup but it has to be beneficial to the overall game plan and not just a case of look at us we give young players a chance. Edit to add I think Chalmers would have had more games had he not been injured and putting Neilson out on loan was 100% the right thing to do as he clearly still needs to work on the defensive side of his game.
  11. Agree with this but the problem is Mellon has stopped playing him in this role and moved him to the right side of a midfield 3 or diamond recently which has seen Fuchs worst run of performances since joining. The squad is incredibly limited but playing players in their most suited position would surely improve us (Fuchs cm, Clark cf, McNulty cf), Mellon persistence with playing players out of position is starting to become very frustrating. Personally I think Mellon has done well to get us where we are in the league and deserves the chance to build his own squad and bring in players taylor made to suit the formation he wants to play but if he does get that opportunity he needs to improve the quality of football on display as with fans back in grounds next season people won’t be long in voicing their opinion. The Forfar game made me think Mellon won’t be here next season as I’ve never seen him so passive, normally very animated barking instructions at players all game but that wasn’t there on Friday. A recent interview also suggested things weren’t 100% behind the scenes along with various rumours about disagreements over the greater use of youth players. The club had to get it right with Mellons appointment as staying up this season was critical for the future of the club and if Mellon is away then once again the next appointment is going to be crucial.
  12. Booing during the minutes silence while sitting in my living room just won’t have the same effect
  13. Forfar away next round, happy with that Aberdeen or Livvy away if we beat Forfar
  14. Poor performance today with some truly shocking passing and the defence a bit of a shambles despite looking more solid recently. Mellon persistently playing McNulty wide is absolutely baffling to me, offers nothing from there and doesn’t look particularly interested. Fully expect to see the same formation/lineup next week despite the shit show today but would love to see straight forward 4-4-2 with Chalmers right, Sporle left, Butch and Fuchs central and Clark/Appere alongside Shankland. The main objective this season was safety and now that it’s pretty much achieved let’s see if we can get the most out of Shankland in the remaining games which in my opinion means giving him a strike partner instead of the isolated lone striker role he is playing at the moment.
  15. The rep are to be streaming an online showing of Smile, well worth a watch for any Arabs who didn’t get the chance to see it
  16. Benji Smith Edwards Reynolds Robson Fuchs Butcher McNulty Harkes Sporle Shankland how I guess we are lining up from our starting lineup. McNulty wide is a waste of time, offers nothing there
  17. It’s no coincidence that our upturn in form has coincided with Fuchs and Butcher returning to the team. Not convinced either are 100% fit yet but with both available maybe MM feels more comfortable trying a back 4 knowing they will get some support from midfield, not something Harkes and Clark will do.
