Was anyone agitating for more centre backs to be brought in in the summer? My recollection is not.  Mulgrew, Edwards and Graham all played well last year and we were expecting to play 4 at the back this season under Ross.

It's unbelievable quite how much all three have fallen off a cliff this season. Nobody could've reasonably predicted this.

Maybe wasn’t seen as a problem position in the summer but it sure as f**k was glaringly obvious by the time the Xmas transfer window opened. As was the pish goalies, the still missing defensive midfield option and by the end of the window the lack of strikers.

  2. Wasn’t particularly enamoured with the appointment of Goodwin (partly due to hoping Levein was coming back to oversee mass changes at the club) but there was a definite improvement last night and I thought his post match interview was very good, a refreshingly honest assessment of individual mistakes costing us along with a lack of a killer touch in front of goal and I liked him saying that while you could see the effort the players put in he wouldn’t praise them for doing so as that should be an absolute minimum for any professional player.

Agree with others that his next team selection will be interesting but the problem there is we’re not blessed with many options thanks to a farcical transfer window which I believe will ultimately be responsible for our relegation. Edwards was appalling last night and looks absolutely shot of confidence but who replaces him, Smith who has been dreadful also recently or the 19 year old who had 30 minutes first team football and managed to get sent off in his first ever start at a professional level. In midfield if we take out Levitt for not tracking runners do we then bring in Djoum to not track runners and up front it’s clear that Fletcher would benefit from having a strike partner (Watt or Clark?) but the only options are a young prospect just turned 17 and a novice from Uganda.

Despite the above Motherwell have shown that a couple of good results make a huge difference and I have more faith in Goodwin getting something out of this team than I did under Fox bad sadly I fear we are doomed thanks to those in charge of player recruitment.

  3. This week so far

    Fox is sacked - bravo

    Asghar leaves - bravo

Local consortium lifelong fans considering buying club - bravo

Goodwin set to be appointed manager - bra..wait what, gtf

Just when the club offers some hope that it realises the shitstorm we are in and makes moves to fix things (Levein) and you start to feel positive about the club again then they go and wipe out the positivity just like that.

This is it for me. Folk talk about not making subs but even the best managers can be guilty of that.

It's the complete inability to affect the game in any way.

Yesterday we lined up differently, with a 451 and immediately we were getting some joy down the left with Behich linking up with Fotheringham to get in behind the fullbacks and we got a bunch of corners in the opening 10-15 minutes. Really basic fitba, play it out wide and get your fullback to overlap into the space available.

Once St Johnstone cottoned on to this and cut off the space there was out there, that was it, our attacking outlet was shut off.

Most teams can counteract this particular lack of space by having wide players that can create space for themselves, but we were playing Fotheringham and McGrath out wide - decent players, but clearly far more comfortable playing centrally.

Most teams have a gameplay other than, you guys are playing, go and play some fitba.

I haven't seen anything ever from Fox that shows he's capable of... anything.

Does Ogren have the fitba knowledge to realise he needs to get rid of his leadership team at the club? Doubtful.

We have to be the easiest team in the league to defend against.

Another thing that pissed me off yesterday (and again showed how clueless the management team is) was our corners, when you’re creating nothing set pieces are sometimes the best chance of a goal and we had McGrath taking inswinging corners and had no one standing on the keeper, absolute fucking basic stuff.

  5. Surely to f**k Ogren has to act now, get Asghar and Fox away to f**k, get Levein in as director of football and almost anyone else in as manager. Fox is so far out of his depth it’s frightening but this must come as a huge surprise to the club despite his only previous experience being a huge failure in league 1, how someone can be a total failure at Cowdenbeath and then get his next job at a top flight club is astonishing, might be a decent coach but clearly not cut out to be a manager. I can’t recall ever seeing a manager so poor at in game decisions and game management and who would have thought that having a 36 year old striker playing up on his own with no one within 20 yards of him would see us struggle to score goals and create chances.

The worry is that even if we do replace Fox (I don’t think we will) we are still stuck with the same shitty unbalanced squad which without question has some decent players but more importantly has some huge gaping holes which we have failed to address following yet another transfer window. If recruitment is down to Asghar then he has to go, the recent interview where he claims we didn’t land any targets as we were looking at a level of player that was probably out with our financial reach is a fucking incredible statement, how about looking at players we can afford and filling the massive gaps in our squad now. If it’s down to us overspending in the summer and having to pay off Ross then the club needs to say this but instead we get an interview which answers no questions and Tony just spouts utter bullshit.

We're presumably not alone, but the days of having some kind of idea what is happening with injured players seems to be long gone* (unless I'm looking in the wrong places). Anyone have any info on Pawlett, McGrath or Behich

*Assuming I'd be right in thinking its The Fat Controller's fault?

Pawlett, McGrath & Harkes all out with hamstring injuries, Behich reported as being back home due to a family issue.
