I’d certainly like to hear from United fans who were at the game about Watt (and I suppose Middleton).
Watt wasn’t great but he’s never a number 9 in that formation and that’s not being critical of Watt, he’s just not the right type of player for that role. A 9 as a lone striker needs to be able to hold the ball up and bring others into play and it’s vital we bring someone in capable of playing that role.
Middleton was fucking dreadful and looked completely uninterested. When he got moved to the left in the first half he was playing just in front of where we were standing and not once did he ask for the ball or make any sort of move to create space, the performance of an absolute imposter.

Could be simply that United are happy to keep him until someone buys him, or at least takes him off the wage bill without a fee. He'll be in the Levitt and Fletcher camp (we'd be happy for you to stay but you can go for a fee/no pay-off) rather than the Mulgrew, Birighitti camp (you're finished here, please go).
His reasons for not returning are not football related, one way or another he will be away.

Behich is 100% away. That Squad number is just stupid.
Could be a negotiation tactic from the club in trying to get a fee for him be claiming he’s still part of the first team squad, however given the reasons for his absence I don’t expect to see him back.

A fully fit properly motivated Tony Watt could be key to our league chances, agree with what others have said about him being man managed correctly but I’m sure Goodwin has a decent reputation in this respect.
There are still plans to bring in at least one more forward which will definitely be needed as should Watt get injured/take the huff, we are back to asking too much from young MacLeod.0 -
Let the club keep my money from the Covid season as this was totally outwith the clubs control but will not be letting them keep the additional money this time round as it is down to complete mismanagement on the clubs part. Had we tackled the glaring issues with our squad in January I would forego the rebate (although we may well have stayed up), but the failure to do so was sheer negligence on the clubs part and it shouldn't be the fans who once again are asked to pay especially when the club have offered this rebate as an acceptance of failure on its part.

Maybe the cleaner has had a busy day hoovering up all the biscuit crumbs and pizza crusts in Ashgar's old office.
That’s surely more than 1 days work.

How dare you suggest that, we'll decide that date.

Overall, how do Utd fans rate Behich?
Good going forward but a poor defender

Without knowing a single thing about him, I can confirm our new centre half Ollie Denham is a better goalie than Birighetti.

Without knowing a single thing about him, I can confirm that Walton is a huge improvement on Birighetti.

In talks with Fuchs, no defensive midfielder last season and now we have Docherty, Grimshaw and potentially Fuchs. The 2 pre season games have been 4-3-3 so don’t see how they fit into the team unless Grimshaw accepts playing at fullback.

Is anybody down South sniffing around? The fact Utd are looking at a fire sale deal with Hibs maybe means he's not in as much demand as was expected.
Cardiff and Wigan, one has a transfer embargo and the other has severe financial problems so there might be limited options. Dont know if Cardiffs transfer embargo stops them bringing in loan players so possibly a 6 month loan with an obligation to buy at next transfer window.

No way we should be reducing the amount we are after for Levitt by including Doidge as his transfer value to Hibs is very little. If we do really want to bring Doidge in then I'm sure by the end of the window he will be available on a free transfer/loan deal as he has no real future at Hibs.
With the quality Levitt has I would much rather see him punted down south with a sell on clause as with the crazy money down there all it takes is 1 good season in the championship and suddenly you are a multi million pound player. If its a choice of £200k from Hearts/Hibs or lose him for free at the end of the season I would be looking to keep him, especially now we have seem dig in the middle of the park which should help Levitts game massively.

St Johnstone player Elliot Parish?
Left them in the summer, was coach and backup keeper. Nothing official yet so maybe Goodwin has him in on a trial basis.

Seems Elliott Parish is new gk coach.

When are we signing a new first choice goalkeeper?
Apparently in talks with 2, of which our first choice is from an overseas league. The sooner the better.

I think we'll be lining up with Graham in the middle with Holt to his left and a new RCH in the back 3
If McMann is going to be lb/lwb then I’d much rather a back 4 as he is ok as a fullback but not enough of an attacking threat as a wingback. The other option is Niskanen plays as lwb.

Apparently we're signing Joe Lewis the keeper
Looked absolutely past it towards the end of his Aberdeen career, so a huge improvement on what we have.
In all seriousness I’m sure we can get someone younger and better than Lewis.1 -

Would use the next two dead rubber cup games to try a new system, back to a good old fashioned 4-4-2, 2 strikers being fed by 2 wide players with 2 solid midfielders sitting in front of the defence. Didn’t see the Partick game but wasn’t impressed with our new centre half pairing against Spartans, Denham looks like he’ll be bullied in this league (hopefully some coaching and match experience will change this) and Holt doesn’t look any better than Graham. Hopefully Moult isn’t the last signing as we still desperately lacking in certain areas.
As it stands my team would be
Walton
Grimshaw Denham Graham McMann
Niskanen Docherty Sibbald Fotheringham
Watt Moult
