Am doing a bit of research into clubs with links to ICI (don't ask!). One of which, of course, was Ardeer Recreation, who folded in the late 1960s. Recreation initially played on Recreation Park. Is this still a a place? I know there is an Ardeer Recreation Bowling Club, with some football pitches next to it. But on another website, someone states: "Ardeer Recreation played at the Rec stadium which I remember as being in very good condition, the grandstand being over the wall from Higher Grade school." Was Recreation Park and, what is now, Ardeer Stadium one and the same place? Thanks Ian

I am assuming you mean St. Johnstone - because both they and Motherwell finished on two points and 5-5 goal record. Well - wouldn't you know it - the tie-breaker in such instances was the side which had scored earliest in their opening match would progress. Motherwell scored within the first minute of their match with St Mirren - whilst St Johnstone didn't open their account until two minutes plus v Rangers. So - to translate - we need to approach the matches against the teams seeded below us, with a balanced degrees of respect and confidence. Too often we have leatt too far in either direction.
