  1. #Yeardle #356 https://histordle.com/yeardle/ Last ditch save, but stuffed my first guess average, out by 630 years.
  2. #Yeardle #349.04166666667 https://histordle.com/yeardle/ Yep, an easy one.
  3. I've figured it out. There is a Bitdefender extension called Anti-tracker. I have disabled it for P+B, and for another couple of sites I use frequently. Cheers for the help.
  4. I normally use Chrome and have just tried Edge. I didn't get the issue, but I got a message asking if I want to add an extension of my anti-virus software. When I added it, I got the same issue I was getting in Chrome. I've fairly recently changed my anti-virus to Bitdefender - are there any known issues with it? thanks
  5. For a few weeks I have been unable to view embedded tweets and You Tube videos, see example posts below. What is causing this and how can I fix it? Thanks.
  6. #Yeardle #345.04166666667 https://histordle.com/yeardle/ Damn, should have got that one. Beats 2 consecutive fails though.
  7. Genuine question: why do you say that? You obviously did want a relationship, otherwise you wouldn't have used those apps, so what changed your mind?
  8. There's a key distinction to be made here. Based on that quote, it's the character's racist view, not the author's (or strictly speaking, the 'narrator' of the book). Amending the language of characters in a book to appease a (to use a lazy phrase) 'woke' agenda is completely ludicrous and counterproductive. The language characters use informs us about them and their motivations. And how could authors, through their books, expose and challenge abhorrent views unless they are expressed in the first place? Changing the language of the Dahl books is different and more worthy of debate.
  9. The publisher has changed their mind: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-64759118 Remarkably, the article doesn't make it clear whether they will sell the original version instead of or as well as the updated versions.
  10. Both sound just the issue I had a couple of years ago where I'd wake up around 4-5am needing a piss, then I couldn't get back to sleep. I tried cutting out drinking anything after tea time, but it didn't work. Then I started drinking later (usually a cup of decaf tea about 9pm), which means I have to get up earlier in the night, around 2-3am. That means I'm still really tired and usually get back to sleep pretty quickly. Worth a try.
  11. Surely there can be both? The original versions clearly labelled as containing outdated language that may offend; the new versions labelled as updated and won't offend.
  12. First rubbish night's sleep in months last night. Wasn't feeling tired but decided to put the light out at 11.45. Took me ages to get to sleep, then woke at 2am. Took another 30 mins or so to get back to sleep, then woke at 5am. Was awake for ages, at least an hour, but must have drifted off as I remember dreaming just before checking the time at about 7am. Normally I would get up after 7, but I tried to get back to sleep and got another 30 min. Feeling exhausted now. Just like the bad old days. I blame this thread.
  13. Oh, one more - don't set an alarm. If there is one guaranteed way of waking up ridiculously early, it's knowing there will be an alarm waking me up if I don't.
  14. Sounds similar to me a few years ago. I looked into it, tried various different things and found I could improve my average sleeping time by about an hour by doing all of the below: Go to bed at roughly the same time every night. Don't go to bed to early - no point if you're not tired and will just stay awake for ages. Don't have caffeine after 5pm. Have a cup of decaf tea around 2 hours before going to bed - this will wake me up about 2am-3am, but that means I can get back to sleep fairly easily, far better then waking up at 5am. Brush my teeth at least 30 min before going to bed (electric toothbrushing is a sure fire way of waking myself up). Read in bed with just a low light on, ideally until I can't keep my eyes open. Don't look at your phone in bed. Wear ear plugs. Wear an eye mask. And most importantly all, don't have any other people in the same room I'm sleeping in. Everyone is different and these may or may not work for you. There's loads of other tips and techniques to try. Have you tried the Sleepio app? I found it a great way of kick starting better sleep over a couple of months. Good luck. I know how horrible it is to spend hours lying awake in the middle of the night.
  15. Hang on in there, there's still plenty of upside potential. The UK market is hugely undervalued compared to, for example, the US. *Posts by Gnash do not constitute financial advice*
  16. A bit more info on the Scotland 'world' on Zwift and it has been designed from scratch rather than based on actual roads, which is really disappointing. So in other words they could have swapped the highland cows for wagyu and Nessie for Mechagodzilla and called it Japan. Or, it would have made more sense to make it an extension of Watopia.
  17. Thanks, I see you can get spindle only Assioma, which may be a good compromise.
  18. More in hope than expectation... does anyone know anything about pedal power meters? I'm looking to get a duel sider that's Shimano SPD compatible, but the only one I can find that exists at all is the Garmin Rally RS / RK 200, which is close to £900. The Favero Assioma looks good and is £300 cheaper, but is only Look Keo compatible. I don't want to have to change my entire set up to go with Look Keo. Any thoughts?
  19. Just got an email about the new Scotland world in Zwift. Why do they think the Giant's Causeway is in Scotland?
  20. Food for thought. Thanks for the answers.
  21. Ok, good to know. The question was more about why some do, rather finding examples of those that didn't.
  22. Understandably, transgender people usually change their name when they transition. But why do they change their surname?
  23. Good news: #Yeardle #306.04166666667 https://histordle.com/yeardle/ Bad news: All stats reset!
  24. Presumably your bike has a cassette and you can use that. If you're going to use that bike just for the trainer then you don't need another. Even if you do decide to use to use the bike outside at some point you can remove the cassette from the trainer and put it back on the bike. A mere 2 hour job for an expert technician like me.
  25. #Yeardle #304.04166666667 https://histordle.com/yeardle/ 2020 years off with my first guess.
