  1. Oooh. I know where I'm going at lunchtime! Did my morning run from Airdrie to Bathgate this morning, ditched some more guff from the bag and managed an average of 3:53 a mile. Quite an improvement for me. The only place left to shift any weight from now is my belly...
  2. 12 miles this morning, average time of 4 minutes a mile. A lot faster than usual, helped by the fact I wasn't cycling head into an east wind, and I ditched a lot of the junk I usually carry.
  3. You can only make people aware of the company and your dealings with them. Let them make up their own mind.
  4. Unfortunately it's to work. I used to work in Glasgow and headwind all the way there. Now I've moved to Edinburgh and the bloody wind has changed direction!
  5. This easterly wind is seriously starting to piss me off. Added about 10 minutes to my ride tonight. It's like cycling in syrup.
  6. Reminds me of a trip to Fife I had...
  7. She isn't keen on touring, and this allows her to return home at night to her family. Be grateful she's even playing!
  8. I spent more time spotting locations than anything else. I'd like to know where that bothy is. The beach scene was unsettling, and it has a few moments over the piece, but it's not great. 5/10.
  9. Got my Kate Bush tickets ordered this morning! London, here I come!
  10. Got two tickets this morning for 29th August! WOW!
  11. Been told to lay off the running for a while. I have been diagnosed with Patellofermoral disorder in my left leg.
  12. Have you tried facing the right way? You may go faster...
  13. I haven't done all of it, but have done a fair bit. For a few years I was the Sustrans Ranger on the Drumgelloch to Caldercruix section. A lot of it has been renewed, so give it a go. There are a fair few train stations along the route so a long cycle and a train journey back is a good option. In general go west to east. The wind is usually at your back.* *I say usually. It wasn't this morning and added 10 minutes to my journey...
  14. Give Carl at Bikelove in Glasgow a phone. Excellent service, really good workmanship and decent prices.
  15. The Wolf of Wall Street. A Martin Scorcese black comedy. Three hours just flew by. Jonah Hill and Leonardo Di Caprio are a fantastic double act. 9/10
  16. I kept thinking that the BBC adverts for the winter olympics were blody Guinness adverts. Black and white nonsense with over dramatic voiceover.
  17. American Hustle I too was mesmerised. By Christian Bale's hair... Great story, very funny in parts. 8/10.
  18. Saw a guy cycling along South Bridge in Edinburgh. Red light at the rear, red light at the front. What is that about?
  19. Saw Seth Lakeman at the O2 ABC in Glasgow as part of Celtic Connections. Fantastic stuff.
  20. Who On Earth Is Tom Baker? - Tom Baker Catholic guilt, boozing and shagging, and some of the funniest anecdotes I've read in a while. A really good read which made me laugh out loud often.* For Dr Who fans there isn't a lot of Doctor Who related stuff in it, but worth reading all the same. *Not suitable for reading on trains or at funerals.
  21. The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Saw this a few days ago. Having read a few reviews prior to its release I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be a wee gem. The locations really made it for me, Greenland and the Himalay were just stunning. Definitely one to see on a big screen. 8/10
  22. Use a screwdriver or lever and try and move the front derailleur out gently. It may just be jammed and need a bit of persuasion.
  23. I'm based at Waverley, so something I can do in under an hour is handy. Ideally in a location that doesn't involve weaving through tourists.
  24. I have had a lot of knee trouble recently, and have been struggling. I ran up between Salisbury Crags and Arthurs Seat yesterday, before coming down through the trees at the back of St Leonards along a muddy footpath. While doing so I disturbed two chaps who were in the process of pulling up their trousers. This leaves me wondering, is there anywhere a bit less hilly in Edinburgh suitable for running?
