  1. Aye, being a Tory is marginally worse than being a Par.
  2. It's an interesting choice as he's only been in charge at Ajax for a season. I also thought Dortmund typically promoted from within or recruited up and coming managers from smaller Bundesliga clubs.
  3. They're not seeded in the true sense of the word. It's the order they were pulled out the hat. Only ourselves and ICT were seeded.
  4. Last season our fixtures were: MD1 (Saturday): 4th seed (Away) MD2 (Tuesday): 5th seed (Home) MD3 (Saturday): 1st seed (Away) MD4 (Tuesday): Free MD5 (Saturday): 3rd seed (Home) If it's the same format, we'll have the following: MD1 (Saturday): Brechin (Away) MD2 (Tuesday): Forfar (Home) MD3 (Saturday): Inverness (Away) MD4 (Tuesday): Free MD5 (Saturday): Stirling (Home)
  5. Juve did this with Cuadrado too. You're probably on the money with it being some workaround to FFP.
  6. They were discussing this on Football Weekly and apparently the biggest shareholder, some Jordanian billionaire, refused to pay the license as he's unhappy about the way the club is being run. His biggest gripe seems to be that the board won't give him more than 49% control, even though it's against league rules
  7. Not as big as the 'most successful club in the world' getting 'relegated' to League 2 IMO.
  8. They're getting a lot of heat on Twitter over this and there's a screengrab doing the rounds of one of their customer advisors on the live chat saying that this offer is expensive to run and they've been selective about who gets it i.e. people who won't win.
  9. Our Betfred Cup group is ICT, Brechin, Stirling Albion and Forfar. Pretty meh IMO. We'll play two of those in the league this season and had Albion last year. Decent chance of progression this time though.
  10. Not sure I agree with this. Spurs probably should be aiming to sign ready-made players to kick on and win something, but Pochetino still seems to like projects that he can mould into his system. Jansen and Wanyama were both signed last summer and neither are the finished article, but have still made a solid number of appearances this season. I would prefer he stayed in Germany, but if he did fancy a move to the PL, Spurs would probably be the best option to develop his game and give him reasonable game time. He's certainly the type of player Spurs could do with as a plan B, though they may opt for someone more proven.
  11. Last year they gave it the best part of a week to promote their CL final offer, so it seems unlikely at this stage. Tight b*****ds.
  12. I'm in the same boat. I know an extra £25 spread over 8 payments isn't a huge amount, but I'd like to see the club show some signs of ambition before parting with it.
  13. ST prices for next season confirmed on the website: http://www.falkirkfc.co.uk/our-people-our-town-our-time-season-tickets-20172018/
  14. I would suggest it was more to do with Houston's cautious approach in the play-offs. He had the perfect opportunity to bring on Hippo at Tannadice, but chose to replace a tiring Sibbald with Taiwo and settle for the draw. And then in the second leg, he didn't bring Hippo until Utd had equalised and we were looking for a goal again.
  15. I suggested this awhile back as well. The problems you've got are 1) Houston is very rigid with his use of a 4-4-2 and 2) playing one striker is still seen as negative by a lot of fans.
  16. Is Toulon being shown on TV? I thought Eurosport usually showed these types of tournaments, but they've got blanket coverage of the French Open.
  17. Seems like a good deal for someone who was a key part of the second tightest defence in La Liga. Although, anyone that forces Paletta out the team is an improvement. 5 red cards this season
  18. McCann is a wild shout. He won 2 games to get them out of a mess which they shouldn't really have been in in the first place, then the players went into holiday mode and they lost comfortably in the last 2. Impossible to tell if he's actually a good manager or his players just got that new manager bounce in his first 2 matches.
  19. Did they not finish on one of the lowest ever points totals last time they were in Ligue 1? Seem to remember them getting humped pretty much every week and they shipped 9 to PSG in the game that clinched the title.
  20. Modern scouting is a lot more advanced than that, but I'd be amazed if a club at our level had even considered utilising analytics. Do we still have any sort of relationship with Ross Wilson? Southampton are generally considered the best in the Premier League at identifying and cultivating talent. Whilst we don't have the same resources, we could surely learn a thing or two from them. All it would cost is a plane ticket initially. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/11953368/Why-the-rest-of-the-Premier-League-have-a-lot-to-learn-from-Southampton.html
  21. Cracking weather for an away day with a bag of cans
  22. Personally think we need DU to get promoted as, regardless of their financial situation and lack of squad depth, our board will still view them in the same way as Hearts/Hibs/Rangers and be reluctant to invest.
