  1. That's Sevilla now just a point off Real at the top (although Madrid do have a game in hand). You'd expect them to fall away at some point, but Jovetic is a shrewd signing and their home form in the league is still imperious. They're certainly in the driving seat for the 4th Champions League place (if you assume that Barca, Real and Atletico will take the other 3).
  2. Shepherd could eat junk every night and would still be built like the side of a fiver.
  3. From the Daily Record: Loy has made less appearences for Rangers than any club he's ever been at
  4. I'm happy to give him a chance if he signs, but surely a player's previous record at this level gives you an idea of their quality. By comparison, Alston had 11 goals and 12 assists in 47 games last season (directly involved in a goal every 2nd game). It would certainly be an improvement, but using Shepherd as a reference point is setting the bar pretty low IMO.
  5. Looking at his Transfermarkt page, he was mainly used as a right winger for Rangers in their first season in this league. 2 goals and 5 assists in 22 games that season is hardly spectacular and his most prolific season was 5 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearences in League One. I remember him having decent pace, so he's the right type of player, but I think there's a question mark over his quality. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fraser-aird/leistungsdaten/spieler/198388/plus/0?saison=2014
  6. A professional footballer living off Mars bars and lucozade
  7. That'll be their 3rd game against each other in 11 days! I didn't catch them tonight, but have been impressed every time I've seen them this season. Another good away win to add to the victory against Celta last time on the road. And Barca are still the only side to have avoided defeat at the Ramon Sanchez.
  8. Not surprised that Witsel is away to China. He was capable of playing for a better side than Zenit, but stayed there for 5 years.
  9. Coulibaly has a decent YouTube reel of goals he's scored for Killie. Get him fired in at number 3 on your list.
  10. Already booked a tattooist to do the Chinese flag on his arm.
  11. Any chance of us signing someone who can hit a decent set-piece?
  12. Folk need to get away from this nostalgic idea that 'football was better back in my day' and realise that the standard now is far better due to a greater emphasis on conditioning and nutrition and a better understanding of tactics.
  13. Agree with everything above. Also, can't remember the exact adjective, but didn't Houston say we needed more physical players after we got bodied by Kilmarnock? Nobody he recruited in summer fits that mound either.
  14. Apparently they're investing heavily in the facilities and football is now on the national curriculum. It'll be awhile before they see the rewards of that, so in the short term you'd imagine this trend of throwing silly money at foreign players will continue as they try to improve the standard of the league. It'll be interesting to see if/when they reach the level of the MLS, given that they don't appear to have the same wage constraints.
  15. That was disappointingly predictible last night. Despite being a little underwhelming so far this season, Bayern turned up when it mattered and had too much for an inexperienced Leipzig. Turning point in the season?
  16. We should be aiming for a right winger and box-to-box midfielder. Basically what we should have signed in the summer to replace Vaulks and Alston
  17. They should have a match to decide once and for all who is the most remarkable IMO.
  18. According to most news outlets, he's set to be named SFA Performance Director. Not really sure what qualifies him for this position given that he's only been first team manager or assistant at previous clubs (AFAIK). There's also the murky details of fees paid on transfer deals whilst at Cardiff and the subsequent scandal over text messages which saw him miss out on the Palace job and contributed to his sacking at Wigan. All in all, it reeks of 'jobs for the boys' and the SFA choosing the cheap, available option.
  19. This does my nut in every week. We surely have someone with a better delivery.
  20. Miller has scored 6 goals from 13 shots. Cummings has 8 from 29. Think we have differing views on what clinical means.
  21. Lee Miller currently the most clinical striker in the league. What a guy http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-championship/top-scorers
  22. Gaining 6 points in 24 games isn't unthinkable, especially as Barca have already played a couple of tricky away ties at Sevilla, Bilbao and Sociedad. But you'd think they'll need a result in the return at the Bernabeau. Zidane is now 2 games from beating their all-time record of 34 games without defeat (set by Leo Beenhaker). Their next 2 fixtures are home games against Dortmund and Deportivo.
  23. Should be a good game. Schalke lost their first 5, but are unbeaten since then. RB obviously still unbeaten in the league (themselves, Hoffenheim and Real are the only sides in Europe's top 5 that haven't lost a game yet).
