  1. We were pretty laboured in the first half and most of the time we did get forward it was down the right and amounted to nothing (our two weakest performers of the night were Kidd and Shepherd IMO). We looked a lot sharper second half with more of play in the final third going through Harris. He played on both sides at various times in the second half and looked comfortable in either. Pleased to see him get two assists for his efforts. McKee was also a positive as he was always available and trying to dictate play. From goal kicks we appeared to be letting the CBs split and him take the ball deep. Wouldn't be averse to us playing out from the back like that. Austin took his goal well and it was a good run from O'Hara for a tap-in. All in, can't complain.
  2. What sort of turnout are you expecting tonight? I see your ground has 500 covered seats and the weather hasn't been too promising so far today.
  3. Don't normally go to friendlies, but it's not far from my work and I'm choking on a bit of live football. Hoping the rain holds off as there's only 500 covered seats, although that may be an optimistic turnout.
  4. My bad, been a long day. Don't think it's a bad move as Luton should be one of the favourites for League Two given they finished 4th, but I did think League One clubs might be in for him.
  5. Their average gate in 16/17 was just over 8,000 which was worse than everyone in the Championship except Burton.
  6. The 10th best team in Scotland lost in ET to the 10th best team in the Swiss League. Disgraceful result IMO.
  7. Imagine feeling optimistic after signing a proven goalscorer who had a good relationship with the fans in a previous spell with the club. Shame on us
  8. It's been like this since 2012. They pick and choose when they're the same club to fit whatever argument they need it for.
  9. He'd get my vote. When I've exhausted all my podcasts, I sometimes fire on Clyde 1 on the way home from work for a laugh at all the delusional, slavering OF fans. He's as bad as some of the callers.
  10. You forgot about our master penalty-winner, Hippolyte. Good post otherwise.
  11. He's got 37 goals and 17 assists in 91 games in the Championship, so he's clearly proven at this level. It may be that McCann believes he can attract better for Dundee in the Premiership, so is happy to let him leave and use his wage on someone else. You'd need to ask Dee fans how he's actually performed for them, but it seems like he's been tarred with the same brush as Keatings i.e. capable at this level, but not trusted to make the step up.
  12. With McKay on the verge of joining Forest for around £500K, I thought it thought it'd be fun to re-post this. £6m FFS http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/rangers-star-barrie-mckay-6m-9656224
  13. Gate receipts (and by de facto season tickets) are a fairly significant proportion of any teams budget in this league due to the lack of prize and TV money.
  14. Anyone that would be happy with McHattie can get in the sea.
  15. Just the 5 goals and 4 assists in 13 games for St Mirren. Finished at this level IMO.
  16. Hearing chat that Devlin is signing today. Can anyone confirm?
  17. I've been an advocate of that formation for awhile now, but Houston's preferred formation is a straight 4-4-2 (unless it's a defensive 4-5-1 away to Hibs, Dundee Utd etc). There's certainly a decent amount of goals in that set-up based on last season's tallies (Sibbald 10, Hippo 7, Austin 6) and you'd hope Sibbald could bag a few more in his most effective position and Austin significantly more playing a full season. Would still like another striker though.
  18. So you're saying that, given the chance, we shouldn't re-sign our top scorer from last season? If it means we're in a strong position to challenge for the league, we should be sacrificing the compensation and keeping him IMO.
  19. If I get some time over the weekend, I'll be knocking up an email to them. I think us fans need to put as much pressure on them as possible.
  20. 1) Taylor scored 24 goals (6 against top 4) and Faird got 18 (5), so neither of them when particularly prolific against the better sides. 2) There's nothing inherently wrong with a striker who scores most of his goals against poorer sides. Those matches are worth 3 points just like the rest. FWIW, I wouldn't go as far to say he was a stand-out, but he's shown enough to suggest he can score 15+ goals if he's fit and starting for a full season.
