  1. Possibly. A Partick Thistle fan started the St Mirren (Championship) Relegation Express thread in 16-17. Remember Partick Thistle?
  2. The job was too big for him. I don't mean that we are massive, (though, of course, we are...) more that we were an absolute basket case at that point. Just relegated from the prem, divisions in the dressing room, senior pros who were about the same age as Murray who were never going to respect him, no recruitment strategy, the players he did bring in were shite, came into a strong league with Hibs and Rangers... he was just miles out his depth to the point that Alex Rae represented a brief improvement. Obviously the above is the 'doing him some credit' view. Others will point out his terrible tactics and lack of leadership, etc. I think he was 34 when he took that job and it was just too much for him. It took a change of club ownership and, eventually, an inspired 18 months under Jack Ross to turn us around.
  3. We've all been there: pissing around on your phone during a teams call when someone suddenly asks for your opinion. In fact that's what I'm doing right now. Thank f**k I don't have the combined social media whining of Liverpool FC after me every time I fudge out a blagged response. All that said, I do wish we, as a club, were doing a bit more complaining about this. Unless we are and it's happening behind the scenes. But holy f**k it's getting ridiculous now.
  4. Yeah, and that reaction got us over the line that season. Weirdly, Rae is still only the fourth-worst manager we've had in the past decade, which is remarkable really. You could make a reasonable argument for fifth worst* depending on how harsh you want to be on Gary Teale. All this sounds like I'm defending him: I'm not. He's the worst c**t. *Worst in order of ineptitude: Stubbs Craig Murray Rae/Teale
  5. Thread going so amicably and someone mentions the fucking shop debacle. I hope you're proud of yourself.
  6. If at some point this week you could loudly point out that Beale is a decent coach and will turn things around, that'd be grand, thanks.
  7. Yesterday was clearly what happens when two well-drilled, organised teams come up against each other. This league would be absolutely gubbed if every team decided to be well organised.
  8. Hibs was ok as well. I knew it wasn't Saints fans' faults. Just needed to find non-maniac opposition fans.
  9. Didn't see a single second of that. Shite all round. Ah well. I hope Hibs win it now.
  10. 100% Walsh has fucked up his handling of the Mandron goal. He almost did so well: let play continue, then blew after ball went in. In his head there, he thinks VAR will correct his mistake. But he needs to award the goal for that to happen. If he does that, there's a clear review of the incident and if they decide there's a foul, then fair enough. Instead, he says it was a free kick and play continues, so VAR doesn't get involved. He's hugely mishandled it. I really hope the club is (quietly, without issuing a statement) kicking off about this.
  11. The fact is, based on the footage we have available, the ball was over the line by a bigger margin than Grieve was offside, yet here were are and they're both chalked off.
  12. Focus now moves to the League Cup. In the event that we don't win, can any of the Motherwell fans reading our thread give any tips on pretending we don't care about that competition?
  13. Newcastle there, showing what can happen when decisions aren't unilaterally going against you.
  14. Why is the line drawn apparently underneath the defender's boot but to the right of Greive's sleeve? Genuine question btw.
  15. Because the quality of the footage available - the angle, the frame rate, the resolution - means they're basically guessing. You say that the decision is automatic once the lines are placed, but the placement of those lines is utter guesswork. I don't believe that they have applied the 't-shirt line' to the Hearts players in the same way they have to Greive. The whole thing is a farce and the inconsistency with this Vs other decisions that have gone against us is bewildering. As I've mentioned on Twitter, we have to complain about this while we're winning because soon this is going to f**k us when we lose, and at that point nobody pays attention because it looks like sour grapes.
  16. It's the purpose of it that gets me. Like, it's broadly very offensive, but not specifically offensive in that context ie to Saints fans. Not like Mark Bosnich doing it to Spurs fans on the basis of their large Jewish support, for example. So all he's done is out himself as being a thick-as-pigshit bigot.
  17. I don't think he did. He had put his whistle to his mouth but it looked like he was waiting to see how it panned out.
  18. f**k right off. If they couldn't award the goal Vs Dundee because it wasn't conclusive, and they couldn't overrule the Aberdeen penalty because it was inconclusive, then how the actual f**k are they claiming they can conclude something meaningful here? It's a fucking joke. And don't get me started on that Mandron goal.
  19. Scottish football is still reeling from the withdrawal of the Maroon pound in the 20-21 season, so anxiety will be high tonight in anticipation of what could possibly come next.
