  1. Who the hell bothers with Hogmanay any more. Don't think I've seen a light on in this street beyond 12.30 on Hogmanay in years nor do I know anyone who hosts any sort of gatheringor party. A long dead tradition in these parts.
  2. I thought it was supposed to be a 4 nations approach ie the same set of lesser restrictions across the UK and loads of families will be cross border so that creates confusion.
  3. And Scotland announce a current support bubble will count as two households whereas in England an existing support bubble will be regarded as one household. Confusing shite already.
  4. See NI have broken the "4 nation approach" already by announcing they are extending by two days to a week, that lasted well !
  5. Damned if they do damned if the don't. It really is a no win situation and hence the 4 nations joint approach.
  6. Customers should have been fined too. Absolute morons all round.
  7. BBC News - Covid-19: Bradford salon fined £27,000 for lockdown opening https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-55057700
  8. Phew good thing you remembered that full stop before arseholes !
  9. All Gary "Bez" Locke is missing are the maracas. What a complete and utter waste of a wage.
  10. It's not that straight forward. It's max 4k in T1 and 2K in T2 or 50% of max capacity if less than those ceilings. So a non league club with a safety cert for 3000 would only be permitted a max of 1500 at the min Tier
  11. Like the Christmas loosening surely that's mad this close to a vaccine roll out.
  12. Beth Rigby on Sky news whilst filling before Bozo speaks just called the Christmas relaxations "much needed and hard earned" so there's your MSM take on it right there.
  13. No she cares for her own mother who's well into her 90s and not mobile enough to get out and about hence the dilemma, her extended household is with her mum. It's a real risk in my eyes and nothing to do with "rules"
  14. Witty, she would be tough as old boots I suspect.
  15. Never mind HK that's the current rules for Tenerife and the other Canary islands.
  16. I think the reaction of the press even on the back of trickled down rumours pretty much shows the mood of the nation for millions. Governments are damned if they do, damned if they don't here. What the should be doing however is in no way sugar coating the risks and potential consequences. Highlight that if families choose to mix (and at the end of the day it will boil down to a personal choice) then undoubtedly it is going to lead to folk dying, explain fully the potential risk thus people can make their own choices. Personally I am under pressure to have the mother in law for Christmas dinner. I have highlighted the risks to both her and my wife and also said I don't think it's a great idea but she is alone and especially lonely at that time of year. Very difficult balancing act for everyone.
  17. Very mild, one frost here so far so nothing to really kill off anything too tall. Salt spray does for anything taller here. Will monitor the bulb situation as it's not really ideal. Hopefully it was the insulation from the leaf fall forcing them and they will lay dormant now. Lovely big toad too hibernating in the leaves but we have a "hide" for them in an old pot at the back of the garage filled with leaves and leaf mould that they bury into, happens every year.
  18. Was out removing leaves today and noticed daffodil bulbs poking through, that us at least 4 weeks earlier than I have ever seen in over 20 years gardening on the Ayrshire coast. That said I still marigolds, fuscia and geranium going strong so obviously an odd year.
  19. It was Majestic wine that seemed to be a magnet to their seethe. 100% essential in my book, top boiz.
  20. The local facebook pages are awash with moans about how few shops are actually closed, basically they are demanding those THEY deem non essential are shut down. People are strange !
  21. That's a total misnomer. All Non Domestic Rates collected are pooled so which authority collects them has no bearing on revenue as they all get their share regardless of what they collect. Council tax on the other hand is income to the collecting authority hence there is pressure to collect it way more than NDR.
  22. I'd love these managers to elaborate and tell us exactly what measures were out the window. It's all a bit Trump like with unsubstantiated innuendo and evidence less accusations.
  23. So your only previous experience of Ayrshire was Nardinis then !
  24. C'mon surely the clapping on the doorsteps was worth more than any cold hard cash ?
