No chance part of Thistle's eternal trophy collection alongside the SFL First division trophy ;)

Oh god, I'd love to see this.

I'm perspiring profusely at the prospect.

  3. The only thing that will prevent a whitewash will be the weather. England are far too strong for this Aussie team who are hopefully going to be in the doldrums for years.
  4. This is the worst Australian side in a generation and with Clarke looking dodgier fitness wise by the week there is no reason why England shouldn't pump them 5 nil. They truly are woeful
  5. Just another knuckledragger who will be banned soon.
  6. Definitely he has a dry sense of humour and is extremely knowledgeable about the game. Some good anecdotes about him in Bumbles book.
  7. Poor old Athers. Look at some of the bowlers he had to face. McGrath & Warne, Donald & Pollock. Waqar & Wasim, Walsh & Ambrose, Murali & Vaas. He had the world on his shoulders captaining a poor side and with his long standing back trouble. Vintage Atherton was of course his magnificent innings in SA. I wonder how well Atherton would have done if he had had a decent team around him. That's cricket though. Young Root looks like a cheery sort, something that could never be said about Athers.
  8. Not if a return to the number one test side in the world is the eventual aim. It's about winning test matches and putting a marker down. The weather isn't set fair and it's a poor Kiwi side that if a correct declaration had been made would already be reflecting on a two nil defeat this evening. More refreshingly isn't it a joy to be arguing about potential victories as opposed to the barren years of the nineties.
  9. The money is on it being a washout like day one. You have to take the forecast into account as it's part of the nuances of test match cricket. Irrespective of that is the fact that setting a team like NZ 468 is unbelievable.
  10. Ridiculously late declaration is going to knacker England here. Poor captaincy and coaching on this occasion it really was. Absolutely bewildering to bat on for so long with the forecast as it was and the general ineptness of the NZ Batting line up. Poor show.
  11. No just declare. Five or six overs at least would be wasted waiting for him getting his ton. The way I see it it's Trott's own fault for not getting a ton after his efforts of yesterday evening.
  12. I think it will have to be Root opening, after all it is his regular position. I would keep Trott where he is at present. Even a KP with little cricket will be better than Compton who is quite frankly dreadful. Trott yesterday reminded me of Chris Tavare. Bell has slipped under the radar regarding his piss poor performances, though he always seems to come up with a score when the threat of the axe is hanging over him. Work to be done with the England top six
  13. Just seems a tad negative. It should be about winning test matches putting a marker down, getting a run of momentum going and having teams fearing England.
  14. Excellent bowling performance again, however really can't understand the rational in not enforcing the follow-on.
  15. This should be a 450 wicket. The England bowlers will have to be on song.
  16. I think you're spot on with your assessment. Get him opening where he belongs, and drop the pedestrian Compton for a hopefully soon to be fit KP and that's a good top six.
  17. The first time he really did it was when he ripped through the middle order of the Aussies in a test match many years ago. Prior to this match changing spell he was tipped to get the boot. There is a good article on the enigma that is Stuart Broad on Cricinfo at the moment.
  18. How many times in his career has that happened with Broad? He is either brilliant or honking.
  19. This England performance has reminded me of some of the displays of the mid nineties. Maybe the kick up the arse the squad needs ahead of a big summer.
  20. Who could have predicted it, Bell makes a nice 17 and is gone. Good luck the young lads.
  21. This is the best two performances I have seen from England in the sub continent. Absolutely tremendous, and delighted to see Finn in the wickets
