Nothing worse than losing one of your grade-A cards because the random rule has unexpectedly popped up in your region.

I don't know, I could never get the better of them. I had a friend from school who beat Emerald Weapon but this was courtesy of Cait Sith's ultimate limit break! I think the main strand of the plot is pretty good (saving the planet from an evil conglomerate) but the whole Cloud/Zack tangent doesn't do much for me. I agree with you about the junctioning system in Final Fantasy VIII, certainly a lot more straightforward than stripping all the materia from one character and sticking it on another.

Clyde FC; Season 2022-23
Francesc Fabregas replied to the_bully_wee's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
The Pelé Podcasts are brilliant and I'd recommend that everyone gives them a spin! More than 50 hours of world-class lower-league content going straight into your ears, what more could you ask for! -
I'm currently making my way through the old PSOne version of Final Fantasy VII. I've just started the third disc and I'm in the process of getting the ultimate weapons and level four limit breaks. It was my favourite game for about 20 years but I don't think it stands up so well now. The story is overly complex, the dialogue is hokey, the graphics look clunky and the party organisation is a pain in the arse (for example, if the game demands you add a character to your party, swapping over materia is annoying). The two bonus baddies, Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon, are miles above anything else in the game and it takes so much grinding before you can even contemplate taking them on. Over the last two years I played VIII, IX and X and VIII and X are streets ahead of VII, X in particular. I look forward to the remake of VII, however, and hope they do a decent job of it.

"Brazilianlex"'s performance on this thread is almost as embarrassing as the Stenhousemuir FC board! Anyway, it's been a while since there was a bit of needle between Stenny and Cowdenbeath - who could forget the 2005/06 season? - so it's nice that Harvest Swan has brought both clubs together like this.

Jamie Longworth is gubbed. He was mediocre during his season at Stenhousemuir in 2017/18 and it wasn't a surprise to see him dropping into the Lowland League with East Kilbride at the end of the year. "A brilliant signing!" quipped the marks after he pitched up at K-Park but they obviously hadn't seen him over the last few seasons - slow, lacking in confidence and with a wild first touch. He's supposed to be a smashing guy away from the park so I feel bad bodying him but he's miles off it.

Mark Ferry captained the Warriors last season and featured in more than 30 games. He'll do a fine job sitting in front of the back four and keeping things ticking over - he rarely wastes a pass - but he's pretty immobile and would most definitely need legs in alongside him.

I'm sure he'll be a decent signing for Dumbarton but I don't think it really worked out for Morgyn Neill at Stenhousemuir. He was our best centre-back in the opening half of the season but when you're playing alongside Jesus Garcia Tena, that's not really saying much. He could header bricks all day but I always felt he got pulled out of position a lot and he couldn't really organise the defence or communicate well. It's no coincidence we looked far more assured at the back when Andy Munro and David Marsh joined the club in January. Over the latter part of the season, he was either used in reserve or played on the left-hand side in a back three. It was a position he seemed to struggle in - against Brechin City on the final day of the season, for example, Marsh and Munro had to talk him through the entirety of the first half. He also made two catastrophic mistakes against Raith Rovers (more or less sliced into his own net in the final seconds) and East Fife (played a blind backpass for Aaron Dunsmore to score) and was binned for the play-off games against Annan Athletic, only emerging from the bench after an injury to Munro. Good luck to him at the Rock but I can't quite understand the positivity towards his performances last season.

A View From The Terrace.
Francesc Fabregas replied to paulbrucerick's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I appreciate all the comments in this thread about the first series of A View from the Terrace - as mentioned previously, it's always good to know what works well and what we can do to improve on some things going forward (and there are already some superb ideas in the pipeline for next season). It's been tremendous fun for everyone involved and I think we bowed out on a strong note on Friday night. A new TV show about Scottish football is unlikely to please everyone, and I can accept some of the criticism in this thread and on social media, but if you think Duncan McKay's trip to Stirling Albion to work as their groundsman for the day was "pointless" then A View from the Terrace isn't for you and you should probably watch something else. To address another point raised over the weekend, I've seen one or two comments on Twitter along the lines of "this should have been given to Si and Slaney" - would Open Goal, in its current format, benefit by being on TV? In what way would that make their product better? Open Goal can do whatever they want on YouTube, and good luck to them going forward. I don't understand why some people feel it's one or the other, A View form the Terrace or Open Goal. Kevin Kyle's comments on Friday night, made seven minutes into the show, were pretty funny, right enough. He shouldn't have deleted his original tweet; I wonder if someone had a word with him about it. I hope to see you all in a couple of months, enjoy your summer! -

What a buzz, lads! We're over the moon. The last 13 weeks have been some laugh and I can't believe we're getting the chance to do it again next season. Until then, please watch the show tomorrow night - I've got a feeling it's going to be a cracker! -
Kelty Hearts lowland league quest
Francesc Fabregas replied to Kelheart's topic in Scottish League 2 General Chatter
Thomas Reilly playing in the Lowland League is a crime against nature. I don't think any part-time club in the country will make such an eye-catching series of signings this summer, yet I still fancy Barry Ferguson to make a pig's ear of it and finish in fourth. -
The Falkirk FC Thread
Francesc Fabregas replied to Kris.'s topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
You'd need to pay a fee for him as he signed a two-year contract with us a couple of months ago. Would Falkirk be prepared to entertain a hybrid squad? I'd imagine they'll stay full time and get promoted at the first attempt. I can't imagine Mark leaving - I recorded a podcast with him last May and he spoke about how part-time football suits him and how he balances it with family and his other pursuits. -
The Falkirk FC Thread
Francesc Fabregas replied to Kris.'s topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Absolutely. Given the position Falkirk are in, they're probably limited to the kind of players they're able to attract (over-the-hill duds looking for one final payday or youngsters who are never quite good enough but still cling on to being a full-time footballer) but Kyle Turner makes sense on almost every level - ambitious, knows the division well, relatively inexpensive. -
The Falkirk FC Thread
Francesc Fabregas replied to Kris.'s topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
No, you're bang on. West Brom and Aberdeen have both taken him on trial and while they were impressed with his ability on the ball, they felt he lacked the physicality to make it at either club. Nevertheless, he could just be what Falkirk are looking for - a box-to-box midfielder with a big heart and the ability to pop up with seven or eight goals a season.
