  1. I wouldn't object to keeping Jimmy Scott but I wouldn't be too fussed if he left.
  2. I've just seen the news on his Twitter page; I imagine we'll find out about the rest just soon. Eddie Ferns was occasionally handy and he did play his hand in some important goals but he was just too goddamn frustrating and when he was bad he was really bad. Still, all the best to him. For someone so limited, he's actually had a pretty successful career.
  3. EFTV is excellent, it's arguably the best highlights service in the lower leagues. It would be a goddamn shame to see it go under. As "Tom Hagen" above me writes, would it not be more straightforward to reduce the service to a basic highlights package? How many people are actually streaming the games?
  4. Alright troops, here's podcast with Mr Goals himself - CLICK. The big man was on tremendous form here. The second part will be released tomorrow.
  5. Alright lads, I recorded a podcast with erstwhile Thistle striker Mark McGuigan - CLICK. There's tonnes of good stuff in here about his time at the club and winning the First Division in 2013.
  6. I will make no comment on this album until I hear "Savage Henry"'s thoughts on it.
  7. He's dealing with family issues. Ah, sorry to hear that. Hope he and his family work through them.
  8. I don't think Sandy Cunningham is with the club anymore. He must have packed it in a couple of weeks ago. I can't imagine Rangers would be interested in lending us Andy Dallas for another season - if he does go out on loan next term, it'll probably be at an upward-looking League 1 club. He's done quite well for us, right enough. He got a big lesson against Sean Dillon on Saturday but he has the potential to be a good player.
  9. Here's a question for the good online Warriors: who would you want to keep hold of for next season and who would you want to release? I know there's still a couple of games left and we're still in the race for promotion but regardless, I think changes are required for next term. KEEP Mark McGuigan The big striker has been generally excellent over the course of the season and our only true source of goals. Keeping him must be a priority, although I can imagine other teams will have taken an interest in him. Mark Ferry An underwhelming signing last summer, Mark Ferry's probably been our most consistent player this season, someone who's good at retaining possession and keeping things ticking over. He needs someone with energy to play alongside him in the middle of the park but I'd be disappointed to see him elsewhere next year. Ruaridh Donaldson Although his form's dipped a little over the last few months, Ruaridh Donaldson's had a good debut season in the senior leagues. There's tonnes of potential there and, for the first time in ages, we have a young player capable of progressing further up the foodchain. Like McGuigan, I reckon other clubs might be keen on him. Ross Meechan Having established himself at right-back after spending so long filling in for others, Ross Meechan's had a decent season. He does need to improve his crossing but he's a very solid lower-league full-back. Ross Dunlop Ross Dunlop hasn't been too hot over the last few weeks (hey, who has!) but when he's at his best he's a classy ball-playing defender and there aren't too many of them around. I'd definitely keep him. Mick Dunlop You can more or less apply what I've written about Ross Dunlop and apply it to his brother. He hasn't been to great recently but he's proven himself to be decent this year, even if he is advancing in years. Harry Paton There is no way in a million years that Harry Paton will be at Stenhousemuir next term but it's nice to dream all the same. I'm ambivalent on the rest of the squad. Players like Jamie Longworth and Jimmy Scott have not delivered what's been expected of them. At 37, Colin McMenamin might have an eye on retirement. Chris Smith hasn't been as steadfast as I would have hoped. Alan Cook has disappointed since returning to the club on loan. Eddie Ferns is too damn inconsistent. David Marsh can't bee happy with his bit-part role this season.
  10. Harry Paton has been released by Heart of Midlothian. A damn shame as he probably had something to offer them but when the club took their loanees to their winter training camp in Valencia and sent him back to Stenhousemuir, it was unlikely he'd be kept on. Still, he has a decent career ahead of him somewhere else.
  11. I bought the remastered version of the game from the PS Store for a couple of quid a couple of weeks ago and completed it today. A sensational story, brilliantly told. Great characters, great arcs, and the ending is out of this world. Some truly terrifying moments in it too - the scene in the hotel basement when you restart the generator and a bloater suddenly appears is frightening. The pacing is tremendous and I don't think I've ever felt so vulnerable in a video game when you start playing as Ellie during the winter episode. I'm going to give Left Behind a whirl. I know what happens in it, but still.
  12. East Stirlingshire will be leaving Ochilview and playing their games at the Falkirk Stadium next season. What will this mean for Stenhousemuir and their finances?
  13. It must mean Chris Smith will be absent for longer than expected. I don't see any reason to drop Lewis McMinn in the meantime, so hopefully Foden will serve as back-up for the time being.
  14. Stenhousemuir have signed Mark Foden on an emergency loan from Ross County. Having watched him playing for Stirling Albion earlier in the season, I'm a little worried!
  15. Fair play to him, I always quite liked him at Stirling Albion, always thought he was a wee livewire, especially around the period Rangers were looking at him. If I remember correctly, he wasn't too hot during his final years at Forthbank and his move to London probably came at the right time. We've been needing a striker for a while - Mark McGuigan's really needed support - so I hope turns out to be a worthwhile signing.
  16. Just back in from a supporters meeting at Ochilview and I'm pleased to report the Stenhousemuir FC board will reject the proposal for colt teams. While they're broadly in favour of B-teams and trying something new, the current proposals don't make a lick of sense and, other than the £15,000 payment, there is not a single benefit to the club of the rest of the division. We spent most of the evening picking the whole thing apart - when you strip down the proposal, it really is a load of crap.
  17. While I fully expected us to be in the top four by this point, I am a little disappointed we're not really challenging for the title and are so adrift from Montrose and Peterhead. A lot of that will come down to our inability to kill off teams at the start of the season - we would take the lead, miss several good chances to extend it, and then get punished - and I reckon we'd about nine or 10 points better off had this not been the case. We've got some good players but there's been an over-reliance on Mark McGuigan's goals and the other forwards really need to pull their weight (I was hoping to see another forward brought in during the window, but alas). We'll be watching over our shoulders for Stirling Albion and Elgin City but I reckon we'll have enough about us to finish in the play-offs. On the whole: good, but could be doing better.
  18. Sensational news, delighted to hear that. This gives us a massive chance of doing well in the play-offs. What a player!
  19. Are you Lewis McMinn or related to Lewis McMinn? Because all your posts on Pie and Bovril have been about Lewis McMinn.
  20. The good brothers at Annan Athletic have rejected the proposal - CLICK.
  21. They play in different positions - Harry Paton is a central midfielder, Innes Murray plays on the wing - but, now that he's finally getting a run of games in the starting XI, I hope Murray can have a similar impact. We started the season stringing four central midfielders across the middle of the park - now we have two very fine wingers. I do hope Paton can return because he gives the team so much drive. Paton and another striker (and maybe a goalkeeper, although that's very unlikely) and we have a good squad going into the latter half of the season.
  22. I'm praying, literally praying Harry Paton spends the rest of the season at Stenhousemuir. He's the best player in the division and one of the differences between us challenging for the title and jobbing for the top four.
