  1. Would love another purple number. I'm probably in the minority but, that was my favourite kit by far.
  2. Waiting to see the other offering first then will decide which to go for, unless I've miss the away top being announced somehow?
  3. The people climbing onto makeshift rafts to travel across the channel are not migrants. They are refugees fleeing persecution and war. I hate the normalisation of the word migrant by the media to try dehumanise the people who feel they need to do this, as if it is the same as someone in Glasgow deciding they want to start a new life in Canada. There are refugee settlements throughout the world including in places like Uganda (where there are a number of settlements, Kyaka 2 for example houses around 140,000). Uganda is housing refugees from almost all directions - DRC, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan being the main fleeing points. A direct consequence of the war in Ukraine has been the shifting of donor funding to support efforts there. UNHCR only have a limited reserve of funding and rely heavily on donors pointing money into certain pots. The life of the average refugee has been completely changed over the past year, they have regularly been paid a stipend which amounts to a few pounds a month per person in the household. This has been slashed to roughly 40%, in Kyaka 2 when I converted it, it was around £2.70 against the backdrop of rising costs for everything. On arrival into the settlement they are given some building materials and a tarp to use as a roof for the houses. Given the length of time alot of people have now lived in these settlements (10+ years for some) their houses are breaking down. Not being citizens in Uganda they also cannot access any government support. It doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes of driving into the camp to understand why people are moving on, that is before you speak to anyone and hear their experiences. To quote one gentleman, "I'd rather go back to Congo because I'll have food and at least I can dig a hole to hide under the bullets." So you will no doubt find alot of Congolese appearing in France (fellow francophones) in the not so distant future, as their life in the refugee settlement has become far harsher in recent months. Most the refugees from East Africa will speak English as their first language, hence why it is far easier for them to try seek shelter in the UK rather than say Spain or Italy where they may have initially landed. It isn't unusual for 10s of thousands of people to cross a border into a neighbouring country over a weekend seeking refuge, so the flow we have in reality is chicken feed. Sorry for the long ramble, the usage of "migrant" triggered me and its only 9am.
  4. Wednesday away would be superb, would assume we'd have heard at the end of last season though to give people a chance of getting down there. Also (and probably shouldn't be) surprised nothing has came from the Burnley and co link friendly wise. The youth teams seem to have had the opportunity to go down but, it would have been good for a wee pre season tournament or something between all the sides. Even if Burnley were a heavily U23/fringe augmented side.
  5. The link the put out on facebook earlier appears to be broken, but I think most members should have received a leaflet with a QR code to sign up to the new site. Haven't done it yet as waiting till I'm paid, which will tie in nicely with it kicking off online. Will miss the random £10 cheques appearing roughly once a year.
  6. Take a couple of weeks out and come back to this. Might fire the out of office back on
  7. Way too early for worrying about lack of news, if we get to July without hearing a peep it'll be concerning. If we get to the second league cup game I'll be knicker wetting.
  8. If he starts well in the Premiership there is no reason why he couldn't punch his ticket to be part of the Qatar squad, which would feel genuinely surreal (obviously once we scud Ukraine and Wales).
  9. Reckon it'll be something like a roof for the NT and new hospitality suite along it, hopefully not fully seated
  10. Disappointing to lose the away team trudging down the terrace, but it was always going to be a holiday romance.
  11. Media, energy and oil companies. Would like us to turn into some form of banana republic as that looks more fun (plus better weather) than the Victorian era path we're tumbling down.
  12. Falkirk are really hard to judge as they seem to be a mess on and off the field. Dowds somehow managed to look scunnered in the celebration pictures after scoring a hat trick when they recalled him from Arbroath.
  13. This. Positionally awful and when he shares the flank with Mackenzie we'd be as well just not playing anyone there. No idea what happened to the lad on loan from Rangers, that early promise has long gone.
  14. Glad the chairman ruled him out early doors. Bullet dodged so far.
  15. Queens park so we can see what they've done to Lesser Hampden for me.
  16. I quite liked him, was absolutely a squad player at this level but couldn't fault his efforts. Hope the move works out well for him and he can get back into full time football once his degree is done.
  17. The problem with the defence is when it goes wrong it tends to be an enormous brain fart moment that sticks in the back of the mind. So no matter how well they do, that is what is remembered by most.
  18. Possibly be an "offer on the table for x amount of time" type scenario. Do they not normally give a couple of weeks for players to decide as the real movement starts once the playoffs are over?
  19. Get the feeling Griffiths is done in the top 4 tiers, could genuinely see him turning up at that mess Broomhill have been turning into over the past few years.
  20. To be honest the self indulgent stuff the club posts doesn't really bother me. I'd rather they were talking themselves up than being doom merchants. It is impossible to please everybody, I'm just glad there is a sign of life from the social media side considering where it was just before the turn of the year.
  21. I don't think anyone could foresee the turnaround with McGinty to be fair. The right side needs a serious overhaul, Houston and McKenzie starting together should never happen again. Both of them were absolutely stinking in a positional sense when defending. With Houston we've seen his purple patches and know what he's capable of, however they have been few and far between in recent times. It may all be down to confidence, but he needs to wake up before he sleepwalks into a career in the juniors.
  22. Pretty certain they are part time but pay very well to attract the best of the part timers. Arbroath have proven that model works in this league so far, so not sure if they'd consider trying to go full time even with the higher prize money on offer.
  23. At this point and time I'd be delighted next season with challenging for 4th, will get a better feel for where we are once bodies start arriving and we know who we'll be playing against. Initial thoughts from me are that Morton will be stronger next season, they've looked better under Imrie. I wouldn't be shocked if they are also looking at the playoffs as a target. No idea what to expect from Cove, losing Milne to Partick will hurt them for sure. Raith are a bit of a mystery, they've been rancid since we beat them at Christmas and McGlynn is out of contract now. Hamilton will probably just job about the middle.
