  1. Says the man whose Australian church hierarchy is point blank refusing to comply with recently-introduced state laws demanding that information on paedophilic behaviour disclosed during the confessional be reported to the authorities. What is it about god-botherers, and the catholic church in particular, that they frequently consider themselves to be above civil law, yet have no problem lecturing the rest of us on matters of conscience ?
  2. Yes, I saw that, Reading University Conservative Club. It seems to me that whilst Scotland is basically content to have the one w****r per classroom, the English require about six or seven. The only person who looked and sounded 'normal' was the one female.
  3. No it would be down to the Tory membership whose mostly elderly, white, right-wing males, in the absence of Sid James, Bobby Moore, Douglas Bader and Bruce Forsyth, would gleefully back him.
  4. You don't speak for me mate, let me assure you of that, and I suspect that you write as someone who has never had to worry over a gas bill or fret about your child's leaking shoes. Bizarre as it may seem to yourself, the measure of a nation' strength is not GDP but how it looks after its weak.
  5. Indeed, I mean who has the time to draw that stuff ?
  6. Snap. The polling clerk had three black pens, none of which worked, whilst the ballot paper pad hadn't been perforated properly. Anyone would think that they hadn't prepared for these elections.
  7. I see where you are coming from but it's all about the bigger picture here. First, get ownership of the hoose and then we can decorate it to our heart's content [emoji6]
  8. It's astonishing that the Tory right-wing thinks that be removing May the Brexit process will suddenly gain some traction. It matters not one jot who takes over, the problems will remain at least as insurmountable, and possibly worse if the EU decides to play serious hardball with a more belligerent and arrogant individual than the hapless May. Bring it on, I've been saying for months that the whole farrago may have all been worthwhile if it results in the Tory Party being smashed into splinters. And I'm also willing to bet that the national mood is becoming more Remain-centric as realities like British Steel begin to stack up - you only have to look daily at how the pendulum has swung on the BBC's HYS. The Brexiteers know this and their desperation to try and rush the outcome will be their undoing. Tomorrow's electoral outcome will be interesting.
  9. ....herself to being ugly ? Are we playing HIGNFY ?
  10. Well we can only hope so, but we need the People's Friend to endorse independence and destroy the Umionist vote.
  11. This should cheer you up, fellow auld-yin.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-48354692
  12. In my ignorance I would say this. The Chairman of the DFC Board is a lawyer by profession and that is to be welcomed. However, if Brabco decide they are off via a sale of their shareholding (unlikely), or by just putting a padlock on the front door, I don't consider that in the UK of 2019 there aren't ways for a clever legal advocate for Brabco to enable the latter, Companies Act or not. From where I'm sitting the DFC Board may hold the moral high ground but Brabco hold most of the meaningful cards, and whilst the Golden Share was designed to protect the club I can't imagine where the money would come from to prove its legal worth.
  13. Oh I don't know, Nicholas Clegg is still up there. Not to mention one David Cameron.
  14. I won't attempt to add to the debate on the legal aspects of all of this, simply because I can't, but I would hazard that anyone viewing affairs at DFC may find that they don't always conform to the conventional norms.
  15. As the good thickos folk of Scunthorpe are perhaps about to find out, as what's left of British Steel peers into a 'Brexit-related' abyss. Lincolnshire, one of the highest Brexit-voting areas in the UK.
  16. Not a great deal there to be honest, it's a holding statement until the meeting referred to takes place. Even then, that may not be definitive, as I get the feeling that there are all sorts of things going on in the background which are interlinked and could have significant outcomes for DFC. I have no hard evidence, but having been thwarted in their intentions I cannot believe that Brabco will be looking to hang around any longer than it takes them to extract enough money to exit the scene. And therein lies the worry.
  17. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/local-news/scottish-football-club-warns-need-11824504 The Planning Application was refused by the local authority, so if we are to believe the headline in the link above the 'cycle of decline' may be about to slip thro the gears.
  18. Yes, good article save for gaffe of changing Donalda McKinnon's gender in the closing paragraph.
  19. Yes indeed, but I'll raise you by pointing out that as far back as the George Bush Jnr presidency Bolton was fabricating evidence and dissembling to justify war - this guy has serial form. What we need to remember is that Trump is a political ventriloquist's dummy, incapable of original thought. We all need to hope that the Pentagon puts the crazies like Bolton back in their box; I honestly don't think the US military wants war with Iran, especially given their close relationship with Russia
  20. Two words - John Bolton. Read David Pratt's excellent article in yesterday's National.
  21. I buy the Sunday edition but it is on the whole a very poor offering, saved only by the contributions of David Pratt, Andrew Tickell and Stuart Cosgrove with occasional input from The Ferret.
