  1. Reports Ive heard are that 5 Alloa fans made the trip to Cappielow, so in reality how serious was anyone taking it? Im glad the fixture was treated with the contempt it deserved. No surprise that our pal pops up on here less than an hour after full time to pile on. Knows quite a bit about the team for someone who has refused to attend games for approximately a year. Absolute red neck of a result, but give me 6 points from the next 2 games and I couldnt care a jot about it.
  2. Despite the ending I enjoyed the game. It really could have went either way and I thought Alloa looked likely to win in the closing stages. If Donnelly is fit we'll be fine I think, he was excellent when he came on. ODonnell really good and I thought Kurtis Roberts was decent before being subbed. Second half in particular was a really good performance. Really good fun at half time when all the younger fans bonded over a game of head tennis across the barrier. A much better experience than our last trip to Hamilton overall, although a bit cruel on the team that we left empty handed.
  3. Trying to get your head round Alloa68s views isn't really worth wasting your time mate. A miserable troll who only posts when Alloa lose a match as it seems to verify his existence. By his own admission doesn't go to the games rendering most of his negative views fairly null and void.
  4. A clean sheet and a win. After the last few weeks couldn't have asked for any more. I wrote in the programme I'd even have taken a 0 0 to stop the rot and give us something to build on. We played well in the first half and certainly deserved to be ahead at the interval. Second half was a tough watch sitting so deep. Obviously given recent games ot caused a bit of concern but we rarely looked in danger. Cove thankfully were pretty disappointing with Megginson in particular looking like he's lost a bit of his magic. Watching the post match interview with the manager I have to say I was pleased for him. His setups are certainly questionable and at times I am mystified by some of his decisions, but there's no doubt he knows his game and he wears his heart on his sleeve. I'm desperate for him to turn this around and get the best out of this squad.
  5. Likely no-one would bat an eyelid in Hawkhill if a crazy man was cutting about with a sword. Just another day in the estate
  6. Youd like to assume putting Luke out on loan means another striker is coming in very soon.
  7. Taggs and Andy Graham at the back I think, with Buchanan right back and Devenny left back. Put Ogayi in goals too and this game could be ridiculously entertaining. Im perversely looking forward to it. Some people may be criticising the manager for his post match tirade last week but it was a "money interview" for me- its made this game a must watch. I'm revelling in the chaos.
  8. Despite suffering through that hiding at the weekend, the graphic and caption posted on social media earlier today advertising the Cove game raised a smile. The best counter for adversity is humour. Top work.
  9. Also thought MacIver was relatively quiet overall, certainly more so than others who completely ran amok against us. The goal he scored was an absolute travesty defence wise, but he took it well. I think based on Saturdays one sided game Falkirk fans probably have plenty material to lord it- a "we told you so" about Ross MacIver I certainly wouldnt have expected to be high on their list- particularly as a lot of them thought the signing was a joke at the time and vast majority of Alloa supporters actually rated him. Very bizarre.
  10. Seem to remember plenty more "mugs" from Falkirk raging about the signing at the time. Majority opinion was that Ross had a lot of qualities, but didnt get enough goals for us. Despite scoring against us at the weekend, vast majority probably happy to see Ross do well at full time level.
  11. I actually dont have that much of a problem with his interview if I'm honest. Although I think he has to accept a degree of responsibility, nothing he said was wrong. Falkirk were a class above us but the goals we lost were indeed embarrassing. No matter how the manager sets the defence up, the individuals are way better than they showed yesterday. Manager says it will be different next week, sounds good to me. Let's see what happens. I think Waspies assessment of Rice has been pretty much right on the money all through his tenure. But he hasn't signed bad players, they just need set up in a way that gets the best out of them. This is definitely fixable, and Rice deserves the chance to do so with the squad he's just assembled. Whether he will or not we will have to see. He's certainly not lacking passion or desire which the interview shows. I'm glad he was as annoyed as we all were at time up.
  12. We also flirted with something of a front three with MacIver, Donnelly and Coulson against Edinburgh away last season and all three were terrific that day. Never saw it again though, but Donnelly being injured may have been a factor. I think printers team is exactly what I would go with against Falkirk. Be interesting to see how MacIver does against us. As stated, absolutely brilliant in the air and did score a few good headers for us, including the goal of the season vote against Queens away.
  13. Yeah he scored in the 3-1 game. Really well worked goal, albeit a tad too late as the game was over after about 15 minutes that night.
  14. Tried to save a shot with his feet instead of his hands and appears to have done his hammy. Very entertaining admittedly
  15. By all accounts someone at the club inquired about Offord early last month but appeared St Mirren wanted to loan him out to a Championship team.
  16. Zanatta was randomly in the crowd at our friendly against Livingston in pre season but pretty sure its because he's a mate of Jamie Brandon who plays for Livi. He's one who did well for us in the past on loan.
  17. Won us a late penalty against Falkirk last season with a decent wee bit of movement, but as Kev said game time limited to really see what hes capable of.
  18. Bit late to the party about Tuesday night I know. I always felt we would win the game even when we went behind. But I think the manager may have learned from it. Although Roberts played well, I wasn't convinced that the shape suited our 3 centre mids. Scougall was doing way too much running to get into the game. It was frustrating because on the ball he was obviously really good. As for the wing backs I thought they did okay. Buchanans goal was a belter, and I though Cammy did fine on the left. All three goals to be fair were excellent. Morgyn Neill already a firm favourite and his celebration with the fans behind the goal was great.
  19. He also had a look at a trialist or two and decided they werent what we are looking for. He's doing it right, no point in getting bodies in for the sake of it and if all our targets joined full time clubs not a lot he can do. He clearly knows what hes looking for. Donnelly will also make a significant contribution in the final third when he returns. League Cup section games are rarely a barometer of league prospects. Despite the reputation the manager maybe has for overly tinkering with his teams, it seemed fairly clear the lineup against St Johnstone was more about giving everyone an outing and assessing rather than picking the absolute strongest starting 11.
  20. That's the way I saw it too, though obviously when I initially saw the starting 11 I thought we were going 4 4 2.
  21. Lineup was definitely experimental yesterday and looks like manager is still assessing what he has and where they will slot in. However do agree that some of the answers should be known to the questions he's asking himself. I thought we battled away okay in the middle of the park but we gave St Johnstone keeper a very comfortable afternoon and were always up against it after the admittedly good early opener. Taggart and Donnelly clearly massively important members of the squad but based on what we've seen so far they're strolling back into the starting 11, although Buchanan was decent on the right against Stirling. Obviously would have rather not lost to Albion, but not too fussed about results on the premise that a lot of questions are answered by the opening day of the league campaign. But still think there's a lot to do with only a couple of games to assess.
  22. Club policy is that stream price is identical to admission price. When you compare it to TV market then agree the value for money maybe questionable. Taking the price aside, quality of our stream is really good and definitely up there with the best on offer.
  23. Can't obviously speak for St Johnstone, but I'd imagine Alloa will have the e-tickets up on the website tomorrow after tonight's game is over.
