  1. With his penchant for show boating, there's possibly a wee touch of Cipollini in there too.
  2. I reckon Sagan will rip Milan-San Remo to shreds. He's a different kind of sprinter, because he can stick the climbs with the likes of Nibali etc. Something which Cavendish & Greipel can only dream of doing. He also celebrates in the most fantastic manner.
  3. That was a cracking couple of episodes. They were very dialogue based, but actually drove the plot onwards. I feel like series 2's quieter episodes were absolutely interminable. Nothing ever happened worth noting (I know Carl got shot, but he's annoying so that doesn't count) until the last 2 episodes. This series has consistently had something to keep you intrigued. Also, I noticed that the brick archway where the pile of burnt corpses was the exact same archway they used in Lawless. I need to get out more .
  4. It's far easier to be too warm than too cold. I'd rather be more wrapped up than try and be some sort of diddy who goes out and catches the cold every time he goes near a bike.
  5. I got out today, done 14.4 miles. Was a nice cycle, cold but I was well wrapped up. Thermal jersey, wind proof vest, cycling jersey, arm warmers, roubaix leggings, overshoes, and my ear warmer. I find as soon as my legs and feet get overly cold they just shut down and I can barely summon the energy to turn the pedals. Plus, at least if I'm too warm I can undo the zip on my jersey and cool down a bit. Would have been a lot nicer today if I wasn't being beaten half to death by a headwind on Castlemilk bypass.
  6. Well if he's the world's best stage racer, he rode like a coo today. That last climb looked absolutely savage, it went from a slight incline to a 30% incline within about 10 feet. Saw a photo on twitter earlier of the folk towards the back getting off to push their bikes up the hill. I'd liken Sky's race style to that of Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan team. Absolutely fucking dreadful to watch for entertainment, but they sure as shit knew how to win things.
  7. It'll be rear-wheel drive. Which in the snow is absolutely and utterly useless. My old boss couldn't get out the car park in my work in her big engined fancy BMW, my wee 1.2 Clio was out no bother at all.
  8. They were apparently putting everything behind Flecha last year at Paris-Roubaix and only managed to get fourth. I don't think Sky have the grit to beat the classic specialists like Boonen, Cancellara and Gilbert. I'd also be gobsmacked if JTL got anywhere near winning Liege-Bastogne-Liege.
  9. The worst offender for losing it completely is Heroes. After a superb first series and a good second series they ripped the arse well and truly out of it. I still have episodes 11 & 12 to catch up on. I shall take care of that after work tonight .
  10. I wouldn't say it's as straight cut as that. Chavanel isn't too far back from Porte, and Chavanel is the French TT Champion. I can see it coming down to the wire.
  11. I put slightly broader tires on my road bike after suffering a couple of pinch flats from bumpy roads. It's basically just to give a bit more room for you to go over bumpy parts of road without getting a flat. I'd rather have a slightly heavier tire than have to stop 15 miles from home to sort a puncture.
  12. If you've got a spare hour, you should give this a watch. It's a fan made film following last year's Tour of Britain. Very atmospheric. http://vimeo.com/60635430
  13. What a day for cycling today was. Glorious sunshine, barely a breath of wind and only a wee bit chilly. Had one of those days where you feel like there is absolutely no effort involved in getting up to a fair pace. Was out with a guy I work with and we were absolutely cranking the pace out to Eaglesham.
  14. Just watching episode 10. Good to see Lori can still destroy my enjoyment of the show despite being dead.
  15. To break the subject matter of doping, I'd just like to show my appreciation for Peter Sagan. The guy is an absolute hero. There's definitely room for daft celebrations and all round larking around in the world of cycling. Yes, he is smiling for the camera while descending in the Tour de San Luis. Well played, Peter. Top patter.
  16. I wish I had the time to put in the miles you seem to batter through. Sadly, with the shifts I get in work it's near enough impossible . I done 9.9 miles in 39 minutes according to Strava there. Had to cram it in between going to Ikea this morning and starting work at 4. Feel fresh though I've not been out on the bike in a while, but I have been knocking lumps out the turbo. I was thinking while I was out, would there be scope for a P&B run? Alright, we're from all over the place but I'm sure we could all meet in a central location like Glasgow Green type of place and go from there. Not for a hammer and tongs tear up, but a sociable run type of thing.
  17. Michael Rasmussen admitting to doping is like admitting that water is wet. I still mind the Tour he got kicked off of by his team. Was dying on his arse, then was suddenly flying up Alps like a man possessed.
  18. I ended up on the turbo tonight. I had my kit looked out last night thinking I could get out to Eaglesham today, but seeing as in a 45 minute spell this afternoon we had blinding sun, heavy sleet, driving rain and hailstones as well as a howling wind I decided against it.
  19. Lovely day for a cycle. Sadly, the front brake on my bike has decided to spit the dummy and won't disengage. So instead of enjoying being out on my bike, I shall need to spend some time trying to fix it.
  20. "Ex-pro arrested in dope ring sting in Spain" Must have been some hoorna spicy chorizo.
  21. I went for it in white & silver. Purely for vanity reasons, cause it then matches up with my silver cycling shoes.
  22. Picked my team, is anyone else joining this league?
  23. It snowed a wee bit last night here. It was shite snow though, just ice. If it's going to snow, I want proper snow.
