  1. In fairness truly elite teams moved onto "hybrid grass"
  2. I know you've had some different site hostings over the years. So I thought best to include as may have slipped through the cracks. Plus it was easier copy & pasting something When I noticed the couple of discrepancies I figured you may have been looking for a 3rd source. Since yourself and SNLR are the common touchstones. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful if that's the case. Late 2000s might have been around for social media and archive.org but couldn't find anything to make it 2-1. I suppose after eliminating most of the results it would be easier to chase up with the clubs involved for specific answers.
  3. This I found online with some notes from the 2007-08 Scottish Non-League Review. SNLR doesn't provide any dates. https://www.oocities.org/br1anmccoll/sfachallengecup.htm 2007-08 North Region Challenge Cup First Round - Aug 11 Buckie Thistle 1-4 Deveronvale Fraserburgh 2-0 Clachnacuddin Huntly 2-0 Wick Academy (Scottish Non-League Review has this as 3-0) Inverurie Loco Works 6-1 Fort William Keith 2-1 Cove Rangers Nairn County 1-0 Forres Mech Rothes 2-2 Brora Rangers (Scottish Non-League Review has this as 5-3 with no notes of an aet or pens that may have led to the 5-3) Golspie Sutherland 1-4 Lossiemouth Quarter Finals - Aug 25 Inverurie Loco Works 1-2 Fraserburgh Keith 3-1 Nairn County aet, 90 mins 1-1 Lossiemouth 0-4 Huntly Rothes 2-4 Deveronvale Semi Final - Sep 8 Huntly 1-0 Fraserburgh Keith 0-4 Deveronvale Final - Oct 20 Huntly 1-0 Deveronvale
  4. Both WoSFL Cup and Strathclyde have that in their rules.
  5. You misunderstand the nature of a pyramid system if you think that a Tier 6 division is meant to be improved by it. Don't think many will look back with rose tinted specs on 2018-19. East exodus, endless pyramid discussions, 1st year of the 16 region wide divisions and the teething problems that come with the transition. Can we go back 10 years when Darvel were a middling Ayrshire District team that didn't have delusions of grandeur?
  6. The great traditions can continue if they pull the trophy out of a shopping bag before the presentation.
  7. It has no major commercial tenant after Clyde left. It's a stadium that knows how to handle crowds lucky to break 100 into the thousands. Broadwood suddenly becoming the primary venue for finals for the SJC, SCC, and WOSFL has nothing to do with them being nice. It ticks all the boxes required and relatively cheap.
  8. Before this it didn't seem like there was a stampede of clubs willing to host. They've been able to fix a venue that they know can host. Probably got a deal on it. Now don't have to go cap in hand scrounging for a venue. Where inevitably the same sort of clubs end up hosting and it gets seen as favouritism.
  9. Got to do something to help pay for all that prize money, now they don't do guarantees.
  10. No.There's 3 different play-off rules kicking about: SPFL2, HL, LL. Highland Pyramid Play-off (NCL, Midlands, North Region) has a deadline of January 31st. https://www.scottishjuniorfa.com/media/2950/ersjfa-handbook-202324.pdf The one Brechin City have to worry about in the SPFL2 Play-offs. Is March 1st. https://slfl.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/211031-Revised-Pyramid-Play-Off-Competition-Rules-31-October-2021.pdf
  11. At the time the North Juniors had a 1st and 2nd Division. Both had a strong Moray presence. Having been decent in the NCL. I doubt they thought they would breeze past all that to keep banging their head against the Superleague for years.
  12. Not much to negotiate. The West Region had failed to enter the pyramid through the SJFA. Those putting together the WoSFL didn't have much to do except accept what was on offer. Otherwise clubs would be left with the SoSFL/EoSFL application option. Everyone was well aware it would have to be a licensed champion to gain entry the LL Play-off. Why should another league's champion compete against a lower ranked team. There's no promotion for the WoS Premier champion. Try again next season.
  13. Been in the pyramid for a couple of years with access to Newtown. Yet haven't bothered getting their SFA license. Even the Syngenta sideshow were able to tick that box pretty quickly. A vanity project with mysterious backing lucky to get a 100 through the gate. Enjoying life skooshing the lower divisions and then...
  14. Neither one really works in reality, as you can never take anything for granted. Earlier in the season before cups become a real issue. They were getting knocked out by St Andrews in the Scottish Cup, contemplating the possibility of a relegation battle and moving on from their most successful manager. Here they are months later still with a realisitic shot at the title, Semis of the Junior Cup and into the Quarters of the WoSFL Cup. The Talbot mentality seems simple "try and win the game that's in front of them."
  15. Linlithgow Thistle in the ams. Moved to the Juniors as Bo'ness United Juniors and started playing at Newtown Park. A condition on joining the EoSFL was the name change to differentiate themselves with Bo'ness United. Which led to the Bo'ness Athletic name.
  16. Athletic 2022 EoS Conference X = 145 / 15 games 2023 EoS Third Division = 122 / 18 games 2024 EoS Second Division = 96 / 8 games (135 + 101 only ones over a 100 so far) United 2019 EoS Conference B = 261 / 12 games 2020 EoS Premier = 370 / 14 games 2022 Lowland = 285 / 17 games 2023 Lowland = 298 / 18 games 2024 Lowland = 408 / 7 games (small sample size & Linlithgow 906 skews higher) BU have seemed pretty consistent with the 300+ crowds. Even with many missing figures this season i'd expect them to be a higher on average than the previous Lowland seasons. Looks like Athletic benefited from the heavy West Lothian presence in the lowest tier. Should tick up a bit as they've still to host Armadale and the title run might bring some interest.
  17. They've been participating in these headcount attempts for 4-5 years now. Don't think i've seen as poor a participation as this.
  18. You would think. All the original reasons that may have fixed the Lowland League at 16 are gone. More than enough clubs in the area. Floodlights are a requirement of licensing. The league has shown it can finish the season in time for play-offs. The only reason it still exists is that allows space for the B teams to enter instead. EDIT: If the league really believed in it. They would have a vote. If it passes, present the rule change to the SFA and have them reject a democratic vote on the record. Rather than the backroom dealings that have gone on.
  19. Turns out the most recent update was posted by the EoS Twitter feed the other week. Upto 14/02/2024. Premier Division First Division Second Division Third Division
  20. Maybe? It's not the first time they've had a sponsor: SoccerShopDirect and TradeRadiators.com don't think any prize money came with it.
  21. A majority passed it. Said to be 8-7 at the time. There can't be 7 for and 2 abstentions.
  22. The last updates I can see were from January 1st.
  23. His name was supposedly in the mix for the Clyde job. If can find another club willing to sign up for the circus he brings that's in the SPFL he'd take it. There's no guarantee EK will run away with the league next year if they're in it, certiainly not in the Sep/Oct when jobs start to open up. One of the few (only?) in the LL that can claim a sell-out in the league. With League Two clubs typically averaging over 500+, EKFC would be turning away fans. K Park isn't going to be good enough for their long-term ambitions. Something they know as they've tried to get something done in the past.
  24. Same was said after Darvel won the West Premier but failed in promotion. The wheels fell off and MK was looking for a job further up the pyramid.
