  1. I bought the Compeed patches, wore one to bed (no idea if I should've or not) and woke up with the fattest lip I've ever seen. My whole lip was on fire and sticking out, and I had to go to work like that. Everybody was staring at it, although too polite to comment. Dad said I might've taken an allergic reaction to the patch, so I bought blisteze tonight after work.

We have no Zovirax in store. I've never had a cold sore before, I'm not familiar with this!

You'll have them plenty times in the future

Zovirax always worked really well with me, but now you have to just get past it in a few days. The important thing is to avoid spreading it around your lips now. Since your lips are all swollen and huge, i would say it is more of an allergic reaction than the cold sore itself. I don't know how the patches work, but it may just be a very strong immuno-modulator.

  2. Yet you can still type on an internet forum?

Something not right there, i'll be reporting you to the DSS.

    Possible explanations:-

    1) The difference may not be so great that you can't read.

    2) It may be for contacts, and Rowan may have some others left before she had to get the new prescription refilled.

    3) The Glasses may not be needed for the internet.

Mabye you should get back to moaning about your friend not inviting you to the Italy game. Surely, being a Rangers fan you could go over anyway, and buy tickets to the away end. Its what Rangers fans seem to do well after all. ;)

  3. Watched the following films recently:-

Wicker Man (new one) - They watered down the whole sexual theme of the original, which made a lot of it not make any sense. was better than i originally thought it was going to be. I loved the fact they integrated Edward Woodward into the film the way they did :) 5/10

The Guardian - New Kevin Costner film with Ashton Kutcher. Coastguard theme, with the typical young stud gets trained by hero, goes through life changing moments with the Hero and in the end the end happened. Enjoyable enough film however. 6/10

Babel - Heard a lot of good things about it, equating it to Crash but was left dissapointed. It never had the storylines that Crash did, and im not a Brad Pitt fan. I also thought it jumped around storylines too quickly, and it was all disjointed time-wise (one storyline was way ahead of others etc). Should have been far far better. 4/10

The Wild - Typical Disney film, that has meshed storylines from other disney films together. 5/10.

FlyBoys - WW1 film about Americans who came to fight with the French air force before the Americans joined the war. Acting was ok in it, some of the fight scenes were pretty good, but not the best. 6/10

  4. Here's a tip, just let the lassie drive all the way, and stop holding me up.

Would you let your wife drive the car while you are in it/able to? :o If so you are braver than most

I remember driving along beside a BMW, with the woman driving and the man eating. Suddenly the car veered over and nearly ran into us. I think the man may still be shouting to his wife over that one

  5. People that walk too slow when you are bringing them somewhere.

I just had to take someone to the other side of the building, as she was lost. I am quite a tall person, and therefore have a longer stride than most, and when escorting people i have to walk slower than i normally do. However this person took the piss and took her time dilly/dallying, looking in her purse, probably doing her make up. Pisses me off so it does.

  6. Where's the need for both?

Theres none, but mummy and daddy (that better P Dave?) spoil me rotten and it means i don't have to do any exercise, i can play 2 hrs on internet, 2hrs on PS2 and 2 hrs on Xbox each day, i dont over-stimulate myself on either one, and i live to be a fat b*****d that is less fit than the 500lb americans you see.

Temporary engineering work. Just been reminded that all our computers need to be turned off as they're shutting the power down on the International Pier for 30 minutes in 15 minutes ti...

It is a ploy to get 30 minutes of work out of you instead of reading PnB. It is all lies ;)

  7. Watched 2 films last night.

Casino Royale, 8/10. I thought it was the best of the recent bond films by a LONG way. Much more character and storyline based than the special effects/ gadgets that have ruined Pierce Brosnans bond career (maybe not ruined, but overshadowed).

The Holiday. DO NOT WATCH IT. Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet swap homes and meet/fall in love with Jude Law/ Jack Black. Girly film that had very few funny parts in it. 2/10. (I hate Jude Law now. If it wasn't for him being in the film there was no way i would have been forced to watch it)

  8. Um, you say that on the day FIFA announce Scotland have reached their highest ever ranking of 16th in the world?

Still some win for Murray, especially after being broken in the very first game

We didn't play football today though did we ;)

I was more thinking of the cricket (although we could have done worse), Rangers losing and Alan Mcmanus not qualifying for the Snooker World Championships.

  9. Moronic people at health and safety.

To set the background, we work with Radioactive material, and there are important safety regulations we have to deal with. If you are a rad worker, you have to have taken a refresher course in the past year. If you do not do this the lab are not allowed to order any rad material.

Anyway, we had someone who left the lab before christmas, and were removed from dosimetry badges (and therefore, atleast we thought, any lists of rad. workers). Everyone else went on the refresher course in january, and we are up to date with everything.

We have since January ordered 2 sets of Rad material without a problem. We need some more to do work, and sent off to order on Friday. (this has to go through the department Rad safety contact, who sends it to the university rad safety office and they order it)

Anyway 10 minutes ago, i got a call from the rad. safety person saying they have to hold up our order as they have not received an email informing them that Mrs Worker left us in December. (Quite how they knew she had left, yet didn't receive an email i do not know) I explained we had done all that when she left, and she even had to get the Rad. safety office to sign off that she had left. no Radiation badges arrived for her at all since December, and as i said we have ordered rad material before last week and not had a problem.

Anyway all i had to do was send an email stating she had left. In the email i said hopefully this will ensure there is no hold up in future with our order. (basically what he had told me would happen if i didn't write the email). 2 seconds after i sent the email i got a phone-call from the guy. I was told off for the abusive email  saying that the order was not held up, that they work very hard calling people to ensure this does not happen.

The whole department is full of morons, and people to make sure they have enough ethnic minorities/females in positions of importance to fill quotas.

  10. You're obviously a smarter man than I, as I must admit that the big twist at the end came as a shock to me. In retrospect it seems blindingly obvious but I'm easily fooled.

Thought Scarlett looked rather lovely in her magicians assistant garb though.

I never got the mechanism for the twist

i.e the fact they cloned themselves, i thought Christian Bale just had a twin brother, and they swapped around)

but everything else was a little too obvious, well i thought so anyway.

As for Miss Johanson yes she looked rather lovely, but i hate her in period dramas with all the big cover-lots-of-skin clothes. Even in her underwear you didnt get a nicer view.

edited to add:- like you trenchie i have stepkids and nieces and nephews we have to watch them with. However at times they are not with us, we buy the movies and have to make sure they are not scratched up etc etc. There are also disney films that are going out of production soon........

  11. Watched the Prestige last night with an all star cast (Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johanson, Christian Bale, Michael Caine and a cameo by David Bowie. It was written by Christopher Nolan so i was looking forward to it. It was an alright film, certainly enjoyable but everything was dissapointingly pretty obvious. Scarlett Johanson was also in far too much clothes throughout.

    6/10

And trenchie, don't worry Me and the Mrs often watch Disney films and the like on our own. They can be great :) (i even have a copy of Charlottes Web that is mine and mine alone)
