  1. Suppose I meant quality in relative terms to what we have recently. I agree hard to come by and will be very lucky to get anything close to what we require. As for goals from elsewhere throughout the team, what we have at present are a mile off that. At least in terms of being close to winning the league.
  2. 100% agree squad to date is bang average. Given it’s L2 those players will cope slightly better and will draw certainly and even win more that they will lose unless out next 3/4 signings are infinitely better. No chance we will win league with present squad. Craig certainly improved second half of the season and again last month or so and at 19 I’m ok with his signing. Keeper I know nothing about but I assume he can actually touch his toes so has to be improvement on Parry. Desperately need quality in midfield and obviously a proper striker or preferably 2 of each. Not confident that will happen I’m afraid.
  3. Let’s hope so as Parry is so finished it’s unbelievable. I’m still shocked he has re-signed.
  4. He was totally unimpressive when he returned after his surgery, perhaps understandable, but in all honesty I expected much much more from him. I’d say in fact he looked really poor and contributed nothing. I may be harsh on him considering he was out for so long but I actually would have been annoyed if the club had offered a really good offer to stay, didn’t look worth it at all.
  5. I’m absolutely amazed and delighted with that one. Well done whoever brokered that one. off on holiday in an hour, that news has set me up nicely. Extra wee pint at the airport I think
  6. Don’t disagree but if we had signed him too a lot of the support would have given the Club stick for signing another Duffy / Dumbarton player.
  7. I got the impression it was more a dig at Lennon. Also alluded to Danny prepared reports on opposing teams really well but over complicated what he asked players to do to combat the opposition. I’d agree with that as Lennon changed team and game plan every week. I also got impression last night that McLean was far from impressed with last years squad mentality and attitude. Vague reference to poor changing room.
  8. So can we take it Scullion and Duthie have knocked back deals? Duthie.. Dylan Easton number 2!
  9. I only hope that these signings are first to be announced as it’s re-signed players and that they are MINIMUM standard we are getting. That said fecken Parry! Abysmal, unless he comes back pre season 3 stone lighter and with a better attitude. And is only no 2!
  10. Not exactly he said and Chairman s also that he was recommending players to Duffy. At lest 6 trialists are pitching up first day training
  11. Agreed and actually quite impressed with McLean, seems genuinely happy to be here and motivated to do well. Certainly came across as a positive guy and seems all about players with attitude, commitment and desire to win games of football. Looks like he wants fitness levels to be at optimal levels. Which was sadly lacking last year in particular
  12. I very much doubt the Community will get anywhere near a stadium at Barrowfield, it’s been there for decades and no one gets a sniff of it. If they build a new facility it will no doubt be a grass park which they will protect for the woman team(s) and the so so vitally important B team.
  13. Whilst not surprised at the appointment I’ll wait to see how it pans out. I am also willing to give him a chance. In all honesty who could we have expected? We are skint and now in L2, homeless and hardly an attractive proposition. We've been down every road possible in trying to get successful manager in: Big name; Ferguson… Failure Bomber…. Failure Henry…Failure Tried Experience: Lennon..Ultimately Failure Chapman : Failure So hopefully McLean will be more like our previous inexperienced and not big name, like Maitland or Kernaghan. Even McGovern and Peaso did their job and kept us from oblivion. I also hope those who are not renewing season ticket (while I understand the frustration) reconsider. This is a hugely precarious position we find ourselves in and we need every penny to try to get a better player in. Every season ticket will be vital..just my opinion obviously.
  14. Potentially very decent keeper. Although when he arrived he had some games but looked pretty dodgy, then had bad hamstring injury and was out for weeks. However…. On his return he looked different keeper, very confident, mobile (although in comparison to Parry that’s wasn’t hard) and played very well. He was one of only 2-3 players our supporters would have wanted to stay after this seasons car crash.
  15. The issue despite the board offering alternative proposal is that B Teams are still included. I actually think an additional league featuring ‘Lowland. And Highland league’ is appealing however not with any B team in it. That is the fundamental line in the sand for me. Pity the club never seem to be caving to the financial bribe like perhaps some others? So my vote will be a NO to conference league as long a B team is included.
  16. He’d probably think they weren’t good enough!
  17. I would have thought if it was McLean it would have been announced by now? Although who knows what’s going on?
  18. Sorry, but had no time for him. Coward of a player, spends more time out injured than playing. He will likely go on a run of scoring 4-5 in a row of games (assuming he’s fit to play 4 in a row) then disappear on the park for next dozen games. Lots of pace and decent strike but as I say won’t get involved and don’t ask him to track any runners.
  19. What may also be an issue for us and some other clubs is that signing players now results in paying contracts from now till July / August when season starts that a fair few quid for skint clubs like ours. Not saying I agree with that policy or if indeed it is a thing but would not surprise me.
  20. The danger of course in signing these players is that can they make the “jump”? Remember guys like Rodden for example were in LL team of the year was he not? Simply not as simple as going out and signing so called top ‘junior’ players, apart from the fact Juniors don’t exist anymore (but I know what folk mean). I assume the likes of Scullion was also considered a decent player at below L2 level when he was signed. We can’t afford the risk again to be in the position of blowing a budget that Lennon did last 2 years. We need to be confident that at least 7-8 of the players can compete even at L2 level. Then take a chance on other untried players.
  21. Unfortunately I can’t see Salkeld continuing to travel up for L2 away games. I’d love to be wrong though
  22. Assuming we do go down, which I believe we will; in an ideal world only Roberts, Salkeld and Mullen are worth definitely keeping, but I agree they will go elsewhere. Mullen may stay if he’s first choice. Grant I’d say offer something, like 6 months deal initially to see if he returns to fitness. Duthie I think may benefit from a season in L2 considering what he’s been through, obviously he may not want that but not sure if anyone will come in for him in current climate where teams can’t afford to take a chance on players. Unlike Dylan Easton he may feel a pang of loyalty to us for support he got from the club? As for the rest all can go and it would be great if Hynes and Docherty’s contract in particular could be “terminated” somehow. I said last year that despite Cudihay being decent player (most of the time) he is injured far too often for a club in our situation. Cunningham is a waste of space injured or not! Personally I’d try initially for a very small squad of as much quality we can afford, even if that is as low as 16 for first few months of the season (yes a gamble I know). Try to get points on the board then worry about strengthening in Jan if we can. Obviously the Manager situation also needs resolved immediately after Friday. Will it be status que? I hope not. Will it be Swift and McLean? Who knows with this Club?
